Just as a reference, I figured that I'd throw this up here to show the can on my HK. Granted.....different piston in the can....and a different barrel that it's being threaded onto (not really an apples to apples comparison). But the square lines of the HK show everything as straight. Where as the Sig has a slight angle from the rear of the slide to the ejection port area. Not trying to make excuses. Could be the miller genuine draft. <laughs>
I'm guessing that it must be the shitty picture that I took there Trip. Holding it out in front of me, it looks fine. Might be the angles of the slide or the slight cant in the pic. But I thought the same thing after I posted that pic. You're right Matt. But I only have 3 of the branches on hand........thus the reference. I'll work on the 4th. <laughs>
Ok. I've been fingering this thing for a while now. So I figured that I'd throw up a couple simple pics. 1st.......without. 2nd..........well.......you see. I'd have some better ones, but 1.......it's already well past sundown here on the east coast. And 2.........I started vacation this afternoon and have already been kickin em back (while fingering a gun with a smoke in my mouth.......yep.....all 3 branches of the ATF. I'll try to get better one's tomorrow.
Well fella's. Just picked up my present to myself. A brand-spanking new Sig P220 dark elite w/factory threaded barrel. First impressions......well....it's a Sig. Sig = Quality. Nice feel, nice weight to it and I'm looking forward to getting out and taking her for a spin. Also got the piston for it so she'll be right at home on my AAC Ti-rant. Now on another note. The gun store was F-ing crazy. It looked like a grocery store right before a snow storm. Anyone who's ever been even near the Washington DC metro area knows what I mean by that. From what had been a wall full of "evil and scary" looking black rifles (and others) just a week before, it was now completely bare except for a few shotguns and bolt guns. Talk about being raped and pillaged! The line (never stood in one before) was at least 15 to 20 people deep. Sheesh.....what a pain in the ass. Anyway....pics are soon to follow (play time first). With.......and without the can on it. I know you guys will be on my ass with no eye candy to go along the "just got my new toy" story. See ya'
Welcome aboard Bigp. Feel comfortable knowing that Armalite make quality rifles. I believe that I have a "few" of them......somewhere.....not sure. <laughs> And ammo will always come down to what your trying to with the rifle. Wide variety out there. Ron
Hey man. We all have other hobbies than weapons. This is just the place that we concentrate talking about weapons. Hell....I used to be involved in a model train shop. Just imagine................ Oh....you don't like how I fixed your train? Then you sure as hell won't like it when I "mist" it with my AR-10. <lmao> Ron
I find it kinda funny though. It only seems to be in the AR world. FAL mags (20's and 30's from DSA) are still available. In stock. No big run happening. Oh....but FAL's are not assault rifles......unless you try to buy one. It's crazy, but not surprising, how mags have dried up so fast for the "AR" platform. THIS SUCKS! :rant2:
I agree with that too. Unfortunately it's the one's that are in office that get to vote on it. And they're already there. And they could cave in to the left by the time the next round of elections come around. That's all I meant. Believe me.....I'm trying to stay positive throuh all of this. Ron
Matt put it right earlier. This IS gonna get ugly. But the speed at which it is gaining pace is mind-numbing. Shocker that Armalite is limiting thier mag sales....and pmags (308) seem to be "sold-out" damn near everywhere. I think that we're looking at some dark times ahead of us here fella's. The powers that be have been waiting for something like this, just so that they could push for another assault weapons ban. And for that matter......who knows where they'll stop? Just my own thoughts and opinion. Ron
I know all about the not being cheap part my brother. I believe that nothing from Noveske is cheap. But......the words quality and cheap never go together in this world. I also thought that they (Noveske) were stepping back from the 7.62 market for a while to focus on other projects. Though they did say in a email to me a while back, that they were probably gonna be re-entering the 7.62 market sometime next year. Either way. I like thier stuff.
This makes sense. I'm not surprised that they've been swamped. And I can't say that I blame them for limiting individual sales to make sure that they have enough for currrent production rifles. But, that being said.........I've been buying the 5-packs of mags, on and off, for the last couple of years. And times like these is why I'm glad that I did.
So where did you find the Noveske 16" barrel with the switchblock? Just curious, because I like the 1 Noveske barrel that I have already (12" Leonidas barrel). And I would definitely consider them for my next carbine style build. Especially with the switchblock supplied with it for cans. Ron
