So I guess I might be hanging around the forum for a little while and be able to catch up on what Iv'e been missing. Any of you guy's gone through the procedure?

My wife likes shooting in fact I was getting ready to start a similar topic but this will do <thumbsup>. We went to the range yesterday and she wanted to shoot the Beast (DPMS LR308) for once and I was like cool lets go. She shoots hand guns all the time but very little on the rifles she really doesn't like heavy recoil and never shoots my 1911, well maybe now and then but she defiantly favers her 9mm over the .45. So we get the range and I get everything sat up and start showing and explaining the controls on the rifle and had her dry fire a few times to get a feel for the trigger. Now its time for her have some live ammo and the first problem came up the charging handle was a little to stiff for her so I took care of that by charging it for her. The seconded problem she had was getting a good cheek weld, the earmuffs she was using hitting the stock messing with her getting a good feel for rifle but we managed. Now she is settled behind the rifle but having trouble locating our target at the 100 yard mark so I dialed the power back from 10 to 6 so she could locate the target and had her take her first shot. When the shot broke you can tell it startled her a little but she's a trooper and got right back behind the rifle and tried a 2nd shot and got on paper this time <thumbsup>. Now that she's had a couple of shots behind her I turned the scope back up to 10 and had her refocus the scope and try again. After the 3rd shot she was like why didn't you do this before ( remember you were about to shot the target one lane over) oh ya she recalled. Her 5th shot was 1 inch from the bull and the smile on her face said enough (I may need more .308 ammo) Kathy's comments were the recoil not that bad so I may have a new shooting buddy at the rifle range now <thumbsup>. After that her hands got cold and wanted to go and warm up so all in all it was a good day at the range.

Case tumbling with brasso cleaner media mixed ??
seasprite replied to KS Shooter's topic in Reloading
Looking good <thumbsup> Looks like 1 hour should do the job? Do you think the difference between the 1 and 2 hour run times is worth it I mean it doesn't look like its that much better than the 1 hour run time in the pic? Looking forward for your tips and I need to check into this media your using ( shot and pins). Are you going to be able to run just as many cases in your polisher with the new media as you would with walnut or cob media? Sorry for so many questions but you peaked my interest :yup: -

So how did it turn out shibiwan I've been waiting since 12:30 am  -
I do the same thing and I know what your saying about the flier now and then. I came across a statement on shooters forum that stated for every 1.5 gr heavier your case is to reduce your charge weight by .1 gr or the opposite for lighter cases. The reason for this is to keep barrel timing the same. I have yet to try this to see it pans out but the theory behind it sounds good to me. would like to try it but until supplies get back to a more normal state if they ever do then I might take this on and test it.

Since I shoot left handed the only requirement my upper had to have was the brass deflector the FA was there with it and have never used it. I do push it now and then to see if it still works ::) .

So you give a man a fishing pole and he eats for life but the .gov wants to restrict you to just the fish so you stay on .gov tit and don't bitch about it or the IRS will visit with a few audits. I don't know how much more this country can take of this admin. just wish it was 2016 but then with the voter base the way it is we'll end up with Hillary at the helm and then it just doesn't matter anymore the country will be lost.

Yep his eyes tell all don't they

I have never de-primed a crimped live primer before so I don't know if the crimp would cause the primer to go bang with extra force required to remove it but its something to think about. I've de-primed a lot of non crimped live primers with no problems just have to go slow. If you try it use some safety glasses.

Just did another 20 .30-30 rounds. Now we get dumped on by 5"-9" of snow so I won't be going to the range for a while. :'(

Hodgdon Main office is about 30min away I may have to make a special trip and see if they'll let me score a pound to try. Shibiwan let me know what weight and profile your running on your 9mm and I'll tell you what Hodgdon has listed in there manual. Good luck Montana, hopefully you'll score fairly quick and let us know how performs. <thumbsup>

Where in the ---- is New England they don't seem to be at Denver <dontknow>

You know bro if I come across a pound of this powder I'm picking it up its just what are the chances of coming across any powder right now let alone a new one with the speeds like there claiming.
-
I've been using Unique been great in my .45 and 9mm the only complaint that I have is its a little dirtier than other powders but the plus side is good case fill and able to produce factory velocity on the ammo I run. Now there is a new powder out that you might want to try see how it shoots called CFE pistol the velocities are suppose to be higher than factory loads but still within safe pressures.
-
Found out that Hodgdon has a new powder for pistols out and I would like to give it try but still have 2.5 lbs of Unique to use up for my .45 and 9 mm first but still might grab a pound to build some hunting rounds 1911. I found the info in Hodgdon 2014 reloading manual. I highlighted the 200 gr lswc load because I use this the most in my 1911 and with Unique I'm only able to get 955 fps and this is showing over 1100 fps which means it should make a great hunting load for the 1911. As far as the burn rate goes its a lot slower than Unique which they list at 31 on their chart and CFE Pistol at 44 http://www.hodgdon.com/images/CFE%20Pistol.jpg So if any of you score some of this before I do be sure to do a write up on it so we know how you like or dislike it <thumbsup>

Today I decided to reload 12 confirmation for my .30-30 and decided to document about every measurement I could think of  :evil5: Only took 4 hours :ifly:
