  1. Welcome from Wisconsin
  2. I usually just use the Lee preset cutter system by caliber with a cordless drill. $8-$12 for each new caliber.
  3. Try this: Today my local Wal Mart has a price on a box of 20 7.62x51 ZQ1 of $7.67 regular, non sale price. That is 38.35 cents per round. I don't care if it isn't that accurate, I would have trouble getting unfired brass at that price, and this is good brass for reloading.

  5. Never had much luck with my .223 laser boresighter. Gave up and do it now the old fashioned way. lets me shoot off more ammo!
  6. Your right, I am guilty of the equivalent of asking about rules in a knife fight.
  7. This thread has no social or educational redeeming value, but I am chuckling anyway.

  10. It dates from the Cold War and is famous for breaking down and having to get towed. Plus it's air group is minuscule Has about the capability of the old British Hermes jump jet carrier..
  11. Prayers for your wife and you it turns out OK.
  12. Stopped today, picked up two 100 lumen cheapos for $9.99 for both. Got a 150lumen spot for $14.99 and they also had a 250 lumen spot headband for $29. Already have a couple of those so I didn't buy. The 150 is going in my ATV box for Deer Season, and the other two are going in my wife's car and the Vette. They also have a ton of LED flashlights. Can you tell I am a flashlight junkie?
  13. The next war with Russia or China, we are going to need all the M-1's we can muster. Don't think it is that far away.
  14. What the hell are we giving them equipment like that for.
  15. During the Holidays take a look at the promotional aisles in the front of a Home Depot. They have a ton of different LED types in the 2 for $8 up to the $25 dollar range. Some of them are really powerful! I buy three or four a year there and give a pack to my son and distribute the others to my cars, hunting pack, etc. Replace the batteries they come with though, they are crap! I probably have 10 or 15 floating around here now. When they break, I just find another.
  16. Is the BDC scope a Nikon, by chance. I have a 4x16 Monarch on my AR10 rifle and like it a lot. Don't have the BDC though.
  17. A lot of questions to be answered. What Abrams model? Was the Halon Extinguishing system or modern day equivalent, working? Rear of turret is one of the most vulnerable spots. I will defer to Blue, and our other armor vets. But time catches up with any model. I don't know if the newer upgrades include an active defense system. I know they are looking at a bunch of upgrades.
  18. Although I am not planning for a scope yet, I am interested how that Basset performs. They have some good press and would be on my short list. When I am at the range, a camera is usually an afterthought. Can you still use the iron sights with it?
  19. I found an Apple 4 was no match for a 240 grain Hollowpoint 44 Magnum.
  20. Guess we have a thread already, courtesy of Mr. Toolndie! This is a Springfield M1A "loaded" with a stainless barrel. I am going to shoot it for a while before I decide whether to glass bed it. Has the medium weight match barrel, but just the standard sights for now. Best group the first day out, with 175 gr SMK BTHP's, 39.6gr RL15, M-80 Brass and Winchester primers. Been too long since I worked a peep. I had to relearn the importance of a consistent sight picture. 80 rounds later, I finally started to score some nice groups. These were the two best 3 shot groups of the day, but I was shooting at 75 yards, not 100. Need to work back up to distance shooting with iron sights, been a scope and red dot baby for too long. Just picked up a nice 1907 leather sling for it. Goes on tonight.
  21. You the Man.
  22. What say we just start an Service rifle thread under "Rifles"? Any of us can start that, and it won't be real prominent and we can keep the conversation a little less high profile. As far as keeping the trolls out, we got some masters at doing that, so I won't be too worried about that problem.

    Big Trouble

I shouldn't be, I should have guessed that first. You recommended me to Primary Arms a couple of years ago for a Red Dot and I ended up getting a Lucid from them which I liked a lot. You have always said they have good stuff. For what it is worth, I couldn't out shoot that scope in a hundred years. But I have 68 year old eyes and nothing can change that. When you get it put together that is gonna be a long distance tack driver.

With the distance you can cover with that, any thoughts on the glass? Guessing Leopold or Night Force.
