  1. @98Z5V This is the 243? BTW best wishes for the OP. What would it cost to cut down a barrel and have it crowned? Maybe why I have a .243 Win bolt gun on the way right now - GunPusher found it for me, after I pestered the shiit out of him for it... It's just a .308 Win round necked down to 6mm. I'm in. After this one, I need to build 2 more, and they'll be ARs. There are 6 cartridges made from .308 Winchester. I'll own them all. .308 Win, .338 Fed, .260 Rem. I have those. .243 Win is on the way. I'll need 7mm-08 and .358 Win, to complete the whole family. Wilson Combat makes both those barrels for ARs, so that's what I'll go with. This will happen. I will complete the .308 Win Family.
  2. Best of luck to you. Aero is a terrific company.
  3. I'll take it Cliff.
  4. I worked Manhattan as a window cleaner in my youth. My whole family was in the business. Dangerous work. They thought my fear was funny, well after avoiding the Wolf Packs as Merchant seamen, D-Day, Murmansk, and Malta, hanging out a window on the 65th floor was a joke. Watching this video made my legs shake and my balls are somewhere near my belly button trying to get further in. Damn, heights always made me shaky. Walked the pearling with the Iron Workers in NYC, another wacky job. It's a wonder I'm still here. I'm glad the guy is safe and hope he gets another J O B.
  5. Very Cool ^^^ Stand up guy.
  6. Nice find and thanks for posting. That's a reasonable price. I've seen some prices waaaay above that.
  7. I like 98. Just do. No affiliation or business ties. Offers terrific advice and doesn't charge, but probably could. I pay for professional advice all the time. As far as the free thinkers go, where the Universe will after some time create all the answers, is fluff. Don't smoke and don't drink, you'll die healthy. Every body deserves a swift kick in the ass sometimes including myself. Being a gentleman is an art, and most of us are not artists in this regard. Just fact. We're gun people and have enough enemies, real enemies right where we live. Remember "... swear to protect the Constitution both here and abroad." Well the f'kers done moved in next door. Troll you threw the first punch, don't expect any favor.
  8. Good hunting round. I want a 1000 yard rifle. I was looking at a 1853 Enfield. 39” barrel. ,
  9. Went back to range today, will report after coffee tomorrow morn.
  10. 80 gr. 243 sailed on through.
  11. It’s worth the effort and contributing to the sight helps us all. Pics are a PITA for some. Anyhow best of luck to you. .,.
  12. Might be surprised at the cal other than the .50. Interesting.
  13. Talk is cheap. Be careful who you listen to, they may just be regurgitating some other folks words. Most manufacturers won't give the proper info on the phone for a couple of reasons. They don't want you to be able to build their model, think Sig at this point, and they want you to buy their goods, i.e.the whole rifle. Most of my friends, my life long friends anyhow became friends after having fights, mostly with fists and later with words. This could become a terrific learning thread or some bs thread, I'm hoping for the former.
  14. When clothing is right the 1911 sits in a Milt Sparks horsehide IWB. Confidence is not lacking with the 45. Arguably of course, but the 1911 is the best hand filling grip to date for me. It just fits. The 22 is not staying in the stable. I'll shoot it again, and figure it out, but the experience is not good. I used the CCI quiet-22. I have some Aguila .22 Super Extra, it says 1,225 FPS and copper plated. I'll give that a go and reconsider. Sisco, I went to Shoot Straight, nice folks there. I just looked at the CCI box, 710 FPS, my bad. I should and will use the high speed stuff for break-in. BTW I bought the reloads so the older gentleman had food for him and his pup that day Really tough spot the guy was in. I know that feeling. I'll work those bad loads through the 1911 one at a time. If they don't fire it's oil can time. I haven't pulled any rounds yet, but do have a bullet puller hmm perhaps the Lord has offered me a new lesson? Thank you all for the advice and caring offered, it is appreciated.
  15. Went to the range with a few pistols and one revolver that I acquired recently. Let's try the S&W M&P 22 compact. Fire, jam, eject manually, jam. Case was stick in the chamber and removed with a cleaning rod. Ditto, case gets stuck. I did clean and lube this pistol beforehand. I'll call S&W today. Next up S&W Thunder Ranch all steel 45 revolver moon clips. Fire, boom thwack, thwack, thwack, thwack, boom. Two moon clips with identical performance. Four rounds ignite and two do not. Put that away in the case. The ammo was bought from a guy I felt sorry for. Dude ran his business into the ground and I bought a bag of reloads from him for $25. Guessing it's the reloads. The mainspring may have been loosened a bit much as well causing light strikes, not sure. Picked up the 1911 and it shot everything I asked of it. Had a new used Glock 26 and it did the same, boom boom boom. Point of the post, that empty feeling is caused when I pulled the trigger and nothing... Just wanted to say I'll never carry an untested firearm again. I did carry the 22 a couple of times at night while walking the pup. We do have some huge snakes in my area and ... Thankfully I did not need that 22 as a rock would have been better protection. It's not the first time a firearm did not ignite for me but my confidence took a hammering.

  17. Salt water fisherman here, I mostly just hauled fish in. The reel may not be as small as I think, but I never learned to finesse fish. 20lb Ande line was minimum I used. A six pound bass is a terrorista in a Lake I'm sure. I know MI. has some real monsters in the lakes. Saber toothed type giant Pike? or similar named fish, only saw pictures of them. I have a fresh water rig that seems like it's flimsy, gotta try it out soon. Best to you.
  18. Nice, I could never figure how those teeny reels were capable of landing that fighter.
  19. Welcome.
  20. That is just plain bad that could have gotten worse quick. I've seen three houses go up in flames from one bad gas water heater explosion. Multiple deaths and a lifetime of grief followed. Glad you and yours are merely uncomfortable for now. The guy didn't run away, that's a plus in a terrible situation. I usually run the gas connection with 3/4" black then tee off 1/2", with a drip leg. All rigid connections. Never liked seeing those flex connectors exposed, think they are too fragile. God bless you and yours, and the pups of course.
  21. Do make the phone call, the folks are pleasant to deal with. They had a fellow there several years ago who was a bit abrupt. He is gone. How do I know? I dealt with him once and was chided for returning some mags that unknown to me at the time were proprietary. " You should know what you're ordering." Fair enough, but not really conducive to more business from me. Fast forward a few years, I called to place an order on parts that were listed as 'out of stock', and the fellow said he'd ship the parts out quickly. BTW I mentioned the reason I didn't want to call Armalite too quickly and he said Armalite was aware of the " bad press " the former employee caused. Plus the fact that they were producing in-house once again. Give them a shout.
  22. Already notified my order has shipped. NICE!!!
