Yeah I don't suggest picking out that type of meat at Walmart. lol.
  3. "Never Forget" My only regret is I live so far away from all those I served with and lost touch with many. But there is no greater bond than the one created as bullets fly by your heads and your only thought is doing your duty same as the man next to you, with no thought that this could be your brother's or your last action. My unit came through without a scratch. I didn't come home with PTSD, a battle wound, or missing a friend; but rather guilt and sorrow as I will never forget every flag draped casket I ever stood at attention for, saluting, while weeping for their far to early sacrifice and the what could have beens they left behind. I will never forget the men and women that volunteered or were chosen by their country to protect what it stands for. Whether they did it because of duty, the draft, college, adventure, family legacy, benefits, or a new beginning; they all served our great country and found the biggest thing worth fighting for was those beside them. I am proud to be a veteran not because of my own accomplishments, but because of the accomplishments of my unit and those I was surrounded by. May God grant all warriors peace from physical conflict and from within, in time. But may he never let any of us forget each other and those who stood with us at home.

blasphemy! I like the gaminess, otherwise I would get my meat from a fcking Walmart. lol.
  6. We can Monday morning quarter back this and most life events all day long. But the fact is, the guy defended himself from an animal that meant him harm. he went home to his family and the moose ended up being a meal for someone or something. circle of life/survival. Nothing in those few high stress seconds while you are full of adrenaline is ever perfect.
  7. The guy yelling and a big loud machine often times is enough to move animals off a trail. Most snowmobiles don't go in reverse. And warning shots are a joke when it comes to dangerous game.
  8. Welcome from Wisconsin, you got a good start with the builders set from a good brand. That is a huge chunk down. keep in mind that black Friday is coming up and some places might have some great deals! also a few places are still running Veteran's Day deals for today I know.

hmmmm was probably going to do a squirrel stew in the crockpot if nobody else had any other ideas. maybe I'll use one of their recipes. but stews are usually what I do with squirrel as it has tasted the best to me and goes a longer way, still interested in other ideas instead of stews.
  10. I know... but I drink summer beers all year if I can find them. lol. then you sit in front of a heat vent with your eyes closed. and as the warm air takes away the winter chill and the cold citrus beer passes over your taste buds, you imagine the sun warming you while you sit lakeside with a pole next to you. ☀️
  11. Can I ask why you think he was looking for a reason to shoot the moose? the thing charged him not once, but twice. the second time making contact with him. the guy was lucky it was a small one that didn't just run him right over. And if you are one of the people thinking the snowmobiles could go around the moose, that might not be possible. often times snowmobiles can cat stuck in thick powder if they go off the trails and then the guys would of been in a worse situation. When looking at deadly force situations in a law enforcement situation, we look at 3 things. Intent, ability, and means. The moose had the intent to inflict death or great bodily harm by charging twice and appearing to prepare for a 3rd charge. It had the ability to inflict death or great bodily harm by its size and strength, not to mention the hooves and strong head. and finally the moose had the means to inflict death or great bodily harm due to its close proximity to the people. Another thing we look at in law enforcement is, would a reasonable person in a similar situation react in the same or similar way. now we can't compare someone who lives in a city and has never seen a moose. we would need apples to apples, not apples to oranges. I for one have never seen a moose in the wild. but I know from what I have seen in Wisconsin that a 120 to 200 pound deer can be deadly. so based on my experience I could argue that if I encountered a 600-1000 pound moose or more, I would react in the same way, probably sooner than the guy in the video did.

anyone have some good squirrel recipes? On or off the grill. I just spent my Veteran's Day afternoon finding dinner in the woods since places around here no longer want to show their appreciation with a single full meal once a year. So I have 4 nice sized squirrels and 1 little one (annoyed me to its death) to cook.
  13. drinking is one way to stay warm in the cold winters, so of coarse we make a lot of good beer. ?
  14. I like my minimalist on my .300 blk but I lean far forward into the rifle that the cheek riser would be poking me in the back of the jaw line. lol.
  15. https://www.odmp.org/search/year I just found this website, I'm gonna favorite it and try and keep this thread more up to date on the losses. Also has statistics at the side which can be a real eye opener. The most recent though happened on Saturday. Hey

    Welcome from western Wisconsin
  19. My brother is a huge knife guy. He bought me a nice Kershaw years ago for my birthday. I love the knife and it has stood up to my abuse. He told me that Kershaw has decent knives as long as you don't buy them from Walmart. apparently they make a lower quality ones just for Walmart so they can sell them cheaper. idk how true that is, but I wouldn't be surprised.
  20. oh boy, someone is really in trouble now. something that may have been swept under the rug before is now for all the world to see.
  21. idk, but I bet you looked again just to be sure. ?
  22. That will change, about two weeks ago I was in a pursuit and spiked a vehicle. a week later a citizen reported running over my spikes and getting a flat tire (mine were the only ones deployed). Why did he wait a week? and also why did we not see a broken down vehicle on the shoulder after the pursuit? hmmmm. Also I had video proof that the subject vehicle was the only vehicle that hit the spikes and no citizen vehicles were around before, during, or after the deployment into the roadway. could the citizen have hit some debris from my spikes... possibly, but still the questions above remain unanswered and he would have to have proof that it was from the spikes and not just wear and tear or your average road debris. so yeah... long story short, there is still plenty of time to call up and say their car was shot or cat killed or something else stupid as people look for handouts. On another note... how many officer's shot through their windshields? I know if in my area we had that many do that, the county, cities, and state wouldn't have enough spare vehicles to get coverage on the road for at least a week. lol. badass, but I just thought it was funny when thinking about my small area with few officers.
  23. so easy! now if I can only remember that a couple of weeks from now. lol
  24. fornicate special forces! The fighting tigers part is my favorite lol. I tried to post the thing here like Tom did, but all the time I have been here I still can't figure out the basics of computers... and I am supposed to be one of the young ones. haha
