  1. I may need to further educate myself on this, but if I'm not mistaken, you can apply for an FFL w/ SOT status on your initial application. I could very well be wrong, so don't take that as an absolute statement.
  2. It's clear that changing minds is difficult, I'm not counting on doing that. However, it does give me hope to see that when this type of meeting is called, the majority represented are pro-gun. This is exactly what the whole country needs, for gun owners to get off their asses and represent themselves, not count on someone else to do it.
  3. I've got an e-mail in to the station to see if I can get you a DVD brother. Come on out to the great state of NC any time you like, I'd love to meet anyone here from the forum.
  4. Not yet. <thumbsup>
  5. I agree 100% with your assessments. The reason I posted this video is because it reflects the attitude of communities all across my state, and most of our country. When you listen to how the audience reacts to the polls, the questions, and the statements of the panelists, it makes two things painfully clear; #1. Nobody wants any more legislation regulating guns. It's not enforceable, just like most of the current laws on the books, and not even (currently) law abiding gun owners are going to subject themselves to such laws. The answer lays in dealing with the people who commit these crimes, not the accessories to the act. #2. The answers being proposed in all seriousness by the anti legislation crowd, aren't even passable as anything other than a joke. Gun insurance? You've got to be kidding me, purchasing weapons is already enough of a hassle without having to try to find a company that won't rip me a new one just so they can deem me fit to own a firearm. NOT HAPPENING. Non-lethal firearms? That's just what I want in my hand when some mall shooter shows up in armor... "Please hold your fire Mr. Psychopath while I swap to my mag with the UNFRIENDLY BULLETS!" This by the way, is representative of one of the most notoriously leftist liberal cities in the whole state. When you get your truck packed, come on out here and see us Tom, we'd love to have more people of your caliber out here. We'll call up alelks, telluwhat, DrDover, and anybody else I can find and go ride ATVs and ya'll can have some plants, animals, and beverages all on my tab. It'll be like the NC 308AR meet and greet. :happydrunks: Consider that a standing offer, you are welcome any time. <thumbsup> I'd like to hear feedback from anybody else who watched it. I think it's a pretty good cross section of what both sides of the discussion are thinking and saying right now.
  6. I'm thinking about registering for it. It would make transferring NFA items much more quick, whether on my SOT or personal trust, it's still mine on either side of the transfer. Seriously thinking about it brother, I've got a lot of friends who could give a personal FFL buddy a lot of business.
  7. You're just now seeing that? Somewhere around your 400 post mark you made some comment about not being an enabler like the rest of us... You gotta watch these mods and admins around here, they like shennanigans with the profile text.
  8. Check out the video and let me know what you think. I'm still rewatching this, but check out the lazy-eyed psychologist, he looks like one of his patients, but he's pretty cool. http://wlos.com/news/features/featured/stories/town-hall-guns-america-115.shtml
  9. Anything with a battery? What about a lit reticle? That kind of thinking seems a little extreme.
  10. Amen to that, brother. I've got one on my bucket list as well, they are as fine a handgun as anyone could want.
  11. Yep, see their website for their BS explanation of why they didn't have it. http://www.easternsportshow.com/ Rather than admit that they made a stupid decision in the face of current events, they put it all down to what the atmosphere of the show would be. I think we should take special care to try to patronize those businesses that boycotted the show.
  12. So far I'm liking it too! Come on out here anytime brother. I'm happy to show some southern hospitality to any of my friends here from the forum.
  13. Well, he is the "Pooper Scooper"... <munch>
  14. Does it take the FAL mags or SR25 style mags?
  15. He should have been dead at the "wielding a pistol inside a school" logic level. Talking is for when the gun being held is more vertical than horizontal.
  16. Glad to hear you got it resolved. <thumbsup>
  17. I used to carry concealed exclusively. Recent events have changed my thinking, I'm open carrying more and more these days. I think it's high time it becomes common to see open carrying.
  18. We need lots and lots more people to do this: http://news.yahoo.com/video/photo-man-jc-penney-shopper-230414356.html It's time for the American people to get used to seeing someone besides law enforcement carrying openly and regularly. We've gotta take this country back.
  19. I don't think you'll have to worry about it, so far the standard twists I've seen for large ARs is 11.25, 11, and 10. I think there are some 12s floating around in some of the less known AR barrel makers, but the three I mentioned are the ones I see most commonly.
  20. I would laugh my butt off if someone went crazy and started offing these traitors with pepperbox pistols.
  21. Good to have you back with us!
  22. Somehow I don't think confiscation would be that cut and dried to be perfectly honest. The same policemen who feel so strongly about confiscation, won't hesitate to raid a stash that is purported to belong to the local drug kingpin, or an underground weapons ring they've caught wind of... It is my personal opinion that confiscation could be achieved by well meaning officers who are intentionally misinformed as to what they are really doing. I'm not saying it WILL happen, but I can see how it would be possible.
  23. It's a very easy question to answer. When both my kids were born, I was asked if I had guns in the house. The only thing they were told is "That's not something I'd tell my doctor." My wife was instructed to answer the same.
  24. Wow! Never seen a finer demonstration of cop drop and roll.
  25. RIA has a few models that were made with metals inferior to their initial line of pistols. Probably as result of a lower cost supplier, but they've since improved on that front. Before that wear starts translating into slop, send that sweet thang off for some NiB coating in on the frame rails and corresponding slide grooves, bye bye wear, hello lubricity.
