  1. I understood it as being ok, so long as you didn't own the actual stock attachment. I'd rather own a B&T TP-9, or the Kris's Vector pistol... Or even a pistol version of that new Sig SMG.
  2. This is exactly why the prices are what they are right now. The demand is so high, that those who are in the right place at the right time completely deplete any supply. Leaving others to buy the random scraps at extraordinary prices. Then the real gougers come out, selling the ammo they just bought at reasonable prices for the same stupid prices. Some sell for profit, some sell just enough to cover their costs and still maintain their own supply. I'm not accusing you of gouging anyone. Nor am I saying that is wasn't a good idea to get what you could when you did. I'm just pointing out that we are all victims of eachother. When we stop taking advantage of eachother, and refuse to pay the prices listed, this will be an ongoing issue that will never be remedied.
  3. I like it, I just hate 99% of the stuff CAA makes. They use cheap Hasbro plastic in most of their products. That doesn't mean I don't own their products. You just have to be cautious on which ones you get. Sig Sauer makes a version called the ACP. I'd trust a Sig product loooooong before a CAA. Plus, the Sig version has a detachable stock, so no need to worry about SBR laws. I always wanted to try to affix one of these to a FN Five-Seven. No other pistols really made it appealing to me to attempt this.
  4. Web, whereabout in MT are you? Two of my favorite firearm companies are in northern MT, in or around Kalispell. Welcome to our spot. It's kinda like the dive bar of forums. We have some of the ugliest and cantankerous patrons around, but you can't beat the level of experience. Once you're in, you're family.... Not because we treat you better, but because we try to spend your money. Lol
  5. Barely noticeable. I'm very satisfied with Apex.
  6. It doesn't get more hi-viz than stainless. Thanks again Rog!
  7. If the LAR-8 is threaded like the AR-10, you just need to know if the LAR-8 uses the same barrel nut for the delta ring assembly. If it does, then you have everything you need. Just order the AR10 APEX. If the barrel nut is different, since it already has the correct threads, you just need to order an AR10 simple barrel nut. It's about a $15 part. Ps. +1 on the Apex decision. I have the 12.5" on my .308 now. It's solid as a tank. I'm putting the 15" on a new build soon.
  8. I just ordered the 15" rail. I have it in my hands right now. If you can find the outer diameter of a LAR-8 barrel nut, I'll measure to see if it'd fit. I have a DPMS barrel nut to compare it to.
  9. 20 years!?!? I have a 15 year plan. That will put me at 50. Plenty young enough to still cause hell in whatever state I move to!
  10. That's pretty sweet!
  11. The only AR-15 handguard that will fit on a .308 varient, is the Magpul MOE handguard... and that requires a little bit of modification to work. The 308AR has a unique barrel nut that does not allow the smaller AR15 handguards to fit. What are you looking for? Perhaps we can point you in the right direction...
  12. Stay safe and hurry home in one piece. Once you get the bug, it's only satisfied by spending more $$$.
  13. I'm tempted to grab a Sig Scorpion Carry. I heard that the guy who designed the Sig Scorpion 1911 series pistols is the same guy who designed the Kimber TLE/RL Custom and Pro models.
  14. I bought two sets of scope rings last year, and never ended up using them. Both are brand new, still in their pack. Set #1 - $50 Warne steel "Maxima" series 1" rings QD levers Medium height for 36mm to 42mm Matte finish Set #2 - $30 Warne steel "Maxima" series 1" rings Perminant mount High height for 42mm to 52mm Matte finish
  15. :laughing4: You're VERY right though... My typo. It is HER truck. She picked it out and bought it. I just suffer the cost of repairs and diesel. :'(
  16. I couldn't stop playing with it long enough to post about it.
  17. I feel your pain. I have 37" Toyo M/T's on my truck. Even when I can find a "good deal" it costs me near $1,500 to replace my tires. The wife cracked a 20" (Gear) rim last year, playing in the sand. I replaced the wheels and tires with 18" XD Rockstar's (much better ride) and new 37" Toyo's, for about $3200.
  18. 2.5-10×32 NXS COMPACT RIFLESCOPE I totally forgot I ordered this scope last year. After talking to a LEO rep on the phone, he advised me that this scope was made to order and the waiting list was over 4 months long. I was truely torn between this scope and the IOR Valdada "Spartan". Originally I wanted the original NF 2.5-10x24, but the rep advised that that scope was only available to military orders, and even if he could sell them to me I would have to make a bulk order of atleast 25 scopes. Not being MIL, or having $50k for a bulk order, I went through with this scope. Out of sight, out of mind, I put the order behind me (forgot about it) until recently. I got a call out of the blue saying that my scope was ready and they were shipping it to me ASAP. You guys don't even want to know what I spent on it. It's funny how some would be jealous of the price tag, yet if my wife new the final cost her reaction would be a LOT different. <lmao> Originally they offfered to sell me a mount as well. Their price on the mount was rediculously high, and I knew I could find a better price on my own. I thought I was going to end up with an ADM or LaRue mount, but eventually ended back up with the Nightforce Ultralite Unimount. It was just too lightweight to pass up. Plus the idea of a titanium mounting system was very appealing to me. It's not a quick release, but a simple wrench in my MIAD grip can fix that. I scored a sweeeet deal on GunBroker for less than half the price of a NIB piece. The mount looks like it was never used <thumbsup> I wanted to make sure I had everything in order before I showed it off to you guys. (Sorry for the iPhone picture quality) I decided on the [Low] Velocity 600 reticle. This reticle is optimized for the 168gr .308 bullet, out to 600 yards. (The scope isn't crooked on the rifle. I just suck at photography) Now I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet (New baby is taking up all the play time)... But I have hunted invisible aliens around my house for a few days now (the wife just shakes her head). I am in love with this thing! I especially like the throw lever. I installed that piece immediately, and with no problems. No more looking to add those bulky "pig tail" throw levers. I thought that a company like NF would have popped for a better eye piece cover?? I guess the rubber ones work ok, but there is nothing "high speed, low drag" about them. A set of Butler Creek lids might be in my future?? NF has something to learn about battery life too (only 200 hours)... I already forgot to turn off my battery once :-[. They are FAAAAR from Aimpoint battery life, but that's ok for me too. The batteries are cheap, at about $1 each online. They are also easy to replace in just a few seconds. I hope to sight this baby in in the next few weeks. Then I'll really start to lay some lead to paper!
  19. Jon, that's true about Cali sourdough. In San Francisco, at the Boudin bakery, they have been using the same yeasts since they started their company. They mix up a full batch, let the yeast reproduce, then use half. Then they repeat the process. My wife and I wen to one of their bakery's a while back and did a tour.
  20. 98 and Edge are right. The 18.5" vs 20" is less than a 100 fps difference. From 18" to 20" you really only gain 50-60 fps per barrel inch. So your debate is over a measly 75-90 fps?!? After 20" the gain in speed drops to about 40fps per barrel inch and after 22" the gain in speed drops to about 30fps per barrel inch. If you shot a Sierra Match HPBT 168gr out of a 20" barrel, you'd likely achieve a muzzel velocity of approximately 2,650-2700 fps. That same bullet in a 18.5" barrel will travel about 2,575-2,625 fps. This is especially true with the 1:10 twist stainless steel barrels. The high pressure barrels really secure muzzle velocity. You want accuracy? Remember the analogy of breaking a bunch of sticks vs breaking one stick? In that same thought, think of breaking a stick in half, then breaking it in half again, and again, and again. Everytime you break the stick it gets harder and harder to do. Barrel harmonics are the same. If you have two barrels of matching thickness, contour and design, yet one is longer than the other... The shorter barrel will be more rigid when shot. The longer barrel will slightly vibrate more, causing a difference in the barrel harmonics. The purpose of a bull barrel is to make longer barrels more rigid. An 18.5" barrel is inherently more accurate than a 20" barrel of matching statistics. For a 20" barrel to surpass the 18.5" barrel in accuracy, it must be considerably thicker and heavier. Faster bullets don't necessarily mean more accurate.
  21. Yeah, I've replaced the front sight with a Trijicon and a fiber optic. It's mainly the rear I'm want to change.
  22. I have one set of $300 Troy DiOptic tritium micro sights and have purhased at least five sets of $75 Magpul MBUS (Gen1 and Gen2). I swear by the MBUS sights. They hold a zero. They deploy instantly at the press of a button. And they go back into storage just as fast. They are built a LOT stronger than people give them credit for. My only gripe with Magpul, is their aperture. I wish they'd make a thinner front post too.
  23. WTF are you talkin about, "just a mound of flab"?!?!?!?!? You're lookin at the wrong kind of titties my friend.
