  1. In the NV and CA shows; All guns must be zip tied to be inoperable. All handguns must be cable locked to the tables. Most use a segmented electronic cable that makes a high pitch sound when taken apart.
  2. So far I have owned the Magpul MIAD, the Magpul MOE+, Troy Battleaxe, TangoDown Battlegrip, Ergo grip.... I just ordered the BCM Gunfighter Mod-0 and Mod-1 from a friend... I stopped using the TangoDown and Ergo due to personal preferences. The MOE+ so far is my favorite, but I'm not sure on the lifespan of the product. I have heard 3rd hand rumors of the rubber degrading quickly. I'm also debated on trying out the Pearce 1911 style grip adapter. One thing I do not have a shortage of, is 1911 grip panels. I'm waiting for a slightly more "1911" styled adapter before I make the transition.
  3. If it works, it ain't broke. :auto:You know what they say... And if it ain't broke.... <thumbsup>
  4. I ran into a similar issue with my SI-Defense when I installed a BAD Inc Short Throw Ambi Selector Switch. I put the lever to a rotary tool and took off the corner. It works just fine now! If you don't do something about it, it will make a divot on the lower receiver and eventually go through the finish.
  5. Ahhh, the famous Greek phrase, pronounced molṑn labé. Molon is an Ancient Greek (masculine, singular) verb meaning "to come". Labe is a Ancient Greek (2nd person singular, from the root verb lambanō) verb meaning "take them" Translating Ancient Greek to English is not an exact science. The basic gist of the phrase means "Come and take them" or just "Come take them" This phrase has built up a fiery popularity with the 2nd Amendment crowd in reference to the possibility of the Government attempting to issue more gun control. It stands for a strong sense of "personal freedom and the individual right to self-protection"
  6. Food for thought... When Colt supplied the local SWAT here with 11.5" M4 Commando's, they gave implicit instructions NOT to lubricate the weapons. They said run the DI M4 dry, with the occasional barrel brush to keep out the oddities. If they got a malfunction of any sort (not contributed to operator error) they were to send the rifle back, no questions asked. After several days of training, firing full auto, all the rifles were put into service without error. The Galil is no doubt a tough weapon, but look at the trade off. Loss of adaptability, accuracy and increased weight. How tough does a weapon need to be? If the weapon is tough enough to do the job consistently, does it need to be tougher??
  7. If the price is right, I might know "someone" who may be in the market for 10-15 of these... http://www.knightarmco.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=42
  8. While shopping for my Roger Kung-fu Grip action figure... I found a relic Tom "the gorilla ninja" action figure <thumbsup>
  9. Glad you found enough use on the site to want to join us. I hope you share you build with us sometime.
  10. I get email updates from another machinist (some would say he's "Mad") who is very close to finishing a DI 10mm using Uzi mags. The difference between the RMW and the Olympic is that RMW is direct impingement and the Oly is blowback (like a semi auto pistol). The DI rifles chambered in pistol calibers are supposed to shoot a little softer.
  11. Sounds like you need to build him an AR45 <thumbsup> Check out RMW Xtreme. Ron Williams has a great little machine that is built to your individual order. Olympic arms also makes one, although the options are a little slim pickings
  12. My newest lever guns are a set of Browning mod 94's in 22lr, 357mag and 44mag. They all have brass dot front sights with standard buckhorn rear sights. I have several Winchesters, in just about every size and caliber imaginable. All original. The newest mod 94 is mfg pre 1950. All those old sights (buckhorn and adj peep) shoot circles around modern gun sights. I've been very tempted to try out a cheap Rossi as a "truck gun". I'm specifically interested in their "Mare's Leg" repro in 357mag!
  13. If you wanted to run a piston system (keeping the heat out of the receiver) you could 3D print both the upper and lower, then use standard parts to complete the build. Y'all know it's just a matter of time before a company releases spools of ABS in Magpul colors. Better yet... How many companies will buy a heavy duty 3D printer, with top end products, then rent time on those machines to be used by customers to print "what ever they want". Hell, I'm thinking of starting a company right now!!!
  14. I agree 100%. Anyone who uses a .308 for home defense either lives way out in the sticks, or hates his neighbors and maybe even his family. A .308 (of any weight) is WAAAAY to heavy to be stopped with just a wall or two. Close range with that bullet into a soft target (like a person) won't even give a hollow point enough time to expand, thus slowing it down. Unless your ides of "home defense" is manning a tower and maintaining a perimeter, go back to a smaller caliber. Why is it that people think the .223 is an anemic caliber? Have people forgotten that the US has ruled the world for 40 years using the .223? There are a LOT of dead people out there that will tell you the .223 is plenty effective. There is a reason why every NATO country uses the round. There is a reason why every LE agency uses it. The bullet works!
  15. When he's quietest is when you have to worry.
  16. Don't doubt for a minute that I won't be checking out property and researching school systems.
  17. I'm coming down! Next year we need to plan this trip around/near a gun show.
  18. Sooooo tempted.... :o
  19. Cz has a similar stock, but it's only on their .22lr
  20. I always load my mags up before I store them. I remember when this was advised against. I think with new metals and technology, springs hold up a lot better. I have been carrying the same Sig P226 .40 for nearly 10 years. I keep those mags loaded 24/7. I have never had a problem with any of them. As long as you buy quality mags, I think you'll be ok. If you're worried just load -1 round to keep the spring from full compression.
  21. The stiffness is most likely the gas rings. They'll wear in after some shooting. Better that they're stiff rather than too loose. As long as the bolt doesn't get stuck in either position you should be fine. Since you said you can work the bolt with your bare hands I think you're fine.
  22. OK, damnit... Why can't I find this model? The FV-SR's that I found all have different stocks. Did you modify this rifle?
  23. That is a really good looking set-up
  24. I know it's OK to shoot Rem in a NATO chamber, but not to shoot NATO in a Rem chamber... But I don't understand the danger? Will it damage the gun or just fail to function properly (like shown above)? or is there a chance of KABOOM? I understand NATO is chambered for higher pressure... But I don't exactly understand what physical difference that is from the Remington chamber. My 14.5" is chambered in .233 Wyld... I eat NATO and Remington with zero issues, all day long.
