Gawdam. I'm glad I love you guys... otherwise I'd REALLY hate you all.
-
I always loved Dissy rifles.
-
Hmmm.... if this were the case for me, I'd only buy NCstar... cheap.... and made in Taiwan!!!
-
If I could afford it, I'd fly to AZ and stay with TomAss 5-8 days a month. After the last batch of runts, hormones are off the charts. When can we live in a society where hormones can be substituted with "whore moans"... it's not cheating. It's survival.

I kinda did the DIY. I know a guy with a mill and he did it for me. I put an AA piston in my ASA.
-
It's the same style the mil originally used on the old CAR handguards. At one point I had 5 or 6 of them laying around. The steel is soft enough to work with yet still do its job well. I have this exact stud on my .308 APEX HG.

Sooooo unpopular that a google search for his rifle didn't get a single return.

Beggars can't be choosers

Look out for Hurricane Robocop... it'll be raining scotch and hookers.

I don't know this company, but this is the style I buy and modify to work. http://www.johnmasen.com/AR15-Handguard-Swivel-Stud-Bipod-Adapter-p/tar231.htm

Low Profile BUIS Heights Needed
Robocop1051 replied to jtallen83's topic in Optics & Mounts, BUIS,Sights
I have a rear FDE Troy sight I grabbed to match up with a VLTOR CASV. I wish more companies offered colored sights. I'm not one to invest $$$ on BACKUP sights. Magpul MBUS sights are usually $50-$75 per set. I have more expensive, fixed sights on a NM rifle I built... but those are the primary sights. -
In regards to barrels and heat; heat travels at the same speed. It doesn't stop. A barrel that gets hot fast gets cool fast too. Big heavy barrels take a long time to heat up due to their mass, but then you're stuck waiting several minutes till it's even safe to touch. Picture it like foil in the oven. The foil is ok to touch only seconds after you remove your dish, while the thicker dish is hot for several minutes. A fluted barrel will not cool faster than a pencil barrel. The thicker areas will take longer to heat and the flutes will heat up fast... Then reverse to cool. The thick areas will take longer to cool and the flutes will cool off. Fluting doesn't make metal more rigid. It doesn't make the metal stronger. It doesn't cool the fastest. Flutes are for cutting weight... and only minimally at that. Flutes are for creating a "medium" between two barrel weights. Pencil barrels are great for 5-10 shot strings. Then they open up due to heat. Heavy barrels can mag dump with little effect. Get that lightweight barrel, with a 1:7 twist, and shoot heavies. A 1:8 or 1:9 shooting <55gr will heat a pencil barrel like a furnace.

Farkle (hasn't been on in a while) built 16" rifle that was 4.9 lbs with an Aimpoint H1 on top. I believe he uses a KSP receiver set: https://www.kaiserus.com/x-7-fusion-stripped-receiver-set/ I know he had a Ti BCG too. Last I heard he was selling the Ti BCG to invest in one of those new adjustable BCGs. With a polymer receiver, 14.5 pencil barrel, and lightweight handguard (BCM or Midwest Ind), you should be right on target for your 5 lbs build. Definitely take advantage of N7's TI parts list. Watch out for some of the polymer receivers. They may only cost $40-$50 but they weigh more than a standard aluminum version. Taccom3G makes a delrin buffer too. If you're adjusting the gas, no need for the extra weight there.

I too have dropped away from BUIS. Rifles I have to trust my life too, get the security of >$1k glass. Rifles that I don't have to trust my life on, can go back in the case till I get the optic fixed/replaced. The only rifle I have with iron sights, don't have an optic. I do believe in having two optics though. My ultimate mating of optics would be a 3-18x scope with a 45° MRDS... AND a 12 o'clock AN/PEQ would put a visible laser alongside the red dot... wishful dreaming.

She got a Zev Tech Tactical trigger for her G19MOS... pics coming. -
Honestly just had this "live chat" with a rep from Optics Planet. David: Thank you! Your order number is xxxxxx. You should be receiving an email confirmation with invoice. Instructions to complete the order with PayPal will be included. David: Is there anything else I can help you with today? Rob: You rock. I really wasn't planning on buying anything today... but I couldn't pass this up Rob: My wife will be a bit mad with you David: Thank you for chatting with us! If you need anything in the future, do not hesitate to contact us. We are always available to help. Have a great day! David: We have women's shoes and apparel. I can cut a good deal on those. Rob: Lol. You're the man! Much appreciated! David: Thank you and have a great day! THIS IS THE BEST SALES RESPONSE EVER!!! I was "window shopping" online and I saw the tab at the top of Optics Planet saying "ask our live staff about how to get a discount" (or something similar to that). So I get a wild hair up my ass and I ask the live tech what kind of discount I can get on a Trijicon RMR RM08 with a green triangle. It was posted for $491, and the best used deal I found was $400 +shipping... The tech comes back with, "How about $413, with free shipping and no tax?" WELL FUCKME!! Am I right?? Now I'm $400 poorer... But my dishwasher-safe pistola has a new hat!!! (Pics coming soon)

Lol... It's been known to happen... Here's my Robo-360 rotation. Faster to draw another gun than to reload. -
S&W Eliminated From Mod Pistol Testing
Robocop1051 replied to planeflyer21's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
OK OK ok... jokers. I fought buying a Glock for as long as possible. The first pistol I ever spent my hard earned cash on was my SA TRP Operator... I proudly carried my PPK/s, my Maverick .357 and my TRP everyday. Then I had my P220 on duty. I was fine for nearly 15 years with that... then fuckwads started picking off cops like doves in an almond orchard. I wanted more ammo and more options. I wanted more firepower. I'm stuck on a motorcycle for 12 hour shifts with only 1/10th the equipment everyone else carries. My downfall was selling my P220 for a P227.... for some reason Winchester ammo was jamming in my 10rd P220 mags. I wanted more rounds than the stock 8 and switched to the P227. Same ammo jammed in the P227.... FML! Put the ammo in my TRP and it rocks... but no 1911's allowed on duty... because my dept is run by idiots. I went shopping for features, not for a gun; 1. Must be 45ACP 2. More than 10 rounds in a standard magazine, (option for extended mags is a plus) 3. No safety 4. Upgradable to use a MRDS 5. Tac/light rail 6. Able to fit a a threat lvl 3 holster (dept req) I was torn between several, and my final two were the SA XD series and the Glock. What ultimately made my decision was that Glock was already a dept approved pistol, and I was going to have to suck off a lot of fat people to get SA pistols added. Now I have a G41 with 17+1 rounds of 45ACP, or 28 if I break out a Kriss mag. She'll soon get fit with a RMR and a couple custom ego booster pieces. What the bombs drop and the dust settles, there are only two automatics you'll want to keep. A 1911 and a Glock 9mm... anything else, and good luck finding parts or magazines. The 1911 and the G17/G19 are the two most abundant pistols in the world, and I'll bet together they make up half of the pistols owned... Now I own several of both. -
Newbie Question on DPMS G2 Hunter .308
Robocop1051 replied to TexMex1959's topic in General Discussion
Even after rereading the other thread, I don't think the "fix" was the most appropriate one that could have been done, despite it working for the OP. I'd remove the bolt catch and examine it vs another 308AR bolt catch. I suggest the AR-10A bolt catch as an inexpensive baseline to compare against. -

Yes they do. When I started riding motors in 2006, they sent a contingency out for a DUI/OUI event. I have a picture of the guy somehwere. I'll look for it. -

hey hey hey... Just because we like getting paid for the work, doesn't mean we have to like our lavender uniforms. -
I'm working on a proposal to add 110gr TAP .308 to our armory for patrol use (primarily to get out of the small format AR15's). Do you think the COL was just a handload issue, or could possibly be a factory load issue as well. http://www.hornadyle.com/products/rifle-ammunition/308-win-tap/110-gr-tap-urban I think a .30cal flying at nearly 3k fps is an awesome plan! Just don't want to lose function

I built an 18" Mega/SI-D rifle for a buddy. He banged steel at 1k with it.

Are you looking for a molle chest rig or bag with 308 pouches?
