  1. Nice lookin' rig, brother! <thumbsup>
  2. Brother, I'd love to have that 4-monocular setup. The damn thing is SIXTY GRAND!!! Yep, $60,000. That's SIXTY THOUSAND DOLL-HAIRS!!!
  3. Been kicking around the idea of building a version of a Squad Designated Marksman Rifle, the SDM-R. I'd stay very true to the design, and just change a few things that I like to run. This long little bastard could get very expensive, very quickly, so that leaves me up in the air on it. I've already got a badass 20" 5.56 precision rifle, the YHM upper, lower and 1:7 heavy barrel - one of the most accurate 5.56 rifles I have. Then there's the Woody, 20" .223 Wylde rifle. Love that thing. Then the Mk12. 'Nuff said on that. I'm just feeling the need for a SDM-R, for some reason. Changes I'd make would include the Rainier Arms UltraMatch SDM-R barrel, DD Lite 12.0 rail, and a few other things, but it would be damn close. I'd paint the $hit out of it, too, but tastefully. Barrel: What say you? Toss some input in here and let me know.
  4. GS, in relation to bolt travel, and how much of a gap you should have between the bolt face and bolt stop - there's no set in stone dimension for that, but there are some practical answers/info on it. Take a look at the blowback-operated pistol calibers, when running through the AR platform - there are special, longer buffers out there to limit the bcg/bolt travel. Blowbacks have so much bolt travel that they'll break bolt stops - too much over travel. That's the reason for the longer buffers - limit bcg travel in order to prevent broken parts. In a nutshell - the less overtravel you have, the easier it is on parts. As long as it travels enough to lock the bolt back. The more overtravel, the harder it's gonna be on parts. Doesn't necessarily mean you'll start snapping parts, but the parts in your rifle will suffer from fatigue or breakage long before an identical rifle with less bolt travel - this "assumes" that both rifles function fine, too. P.S. On a blowback pistol cal AR, if you don't run the special longer buffers, stack $1.75 in quarters inside the back of the receiver extension before you put the spring in there. That stacked thickness is the equivalent distance of overtravel that the pistol cal blowbacks have.
  5. Hadn't heard of that until you mentioned it - good info. Like we can even FIND some M22, though - man, I haven't seen that stuff on the shelves since last Jan. I wish I could find it, but when I do I'll be looking for those lots and stay away. <thumbsup> Here's the Winchester info on it, for others: http://www.winchester.com/library/news/Pages/s22lrt-recall.aspx
  6. Internal depth on the receiver extension should be 7", unless it's an Armalite AR-10 carbine receiver extension. The AR-15 stuff is all 7" internal depth. Get another receiver extension, brother. That one's too short. <thumbsup>
  7. ^^^ Full-length size it, in the case of those?
  8. I'd be curious to see the chamber condition of the rifle that stuff was shot out of. Too much headspace. Case head separation, looks like.
  9. N Jensen, the one thing I saw in this thread - and it's not a dig on you, in the least - there are options out there, and others are stating those options. Then I see you, stating that it must be one way, one way only, and there are no other options. Brother, when we stop listening, we stop learning. If we don't learn, we don't progress. We never get better. I kinda think you are refusing to accept any other way - when there are other ways. On another note - very awesome accomplishments. I have no idea why you haven't talked about those before, because those accomplishments are topics (very good ones) all by themselves. Hell, MANY topics! <thumbsup>
  10. That was such an awesome Redbull setup - they put on some good shows, with crazy action, but this one was the best. <thumbsup> This one was pretty good, and comes close...

    Need some tips

Gotta find a way to manage that $hit, man - only shake during your Natural Respiratory Pause, or something... <laughs>
  12. Did you get one yet? Post up any info on how it's working for you? <thumbsup> What I posted isn't "old news." What I posted in an example of what's in my hands, man. Haven't seen anybody else here on this site post what I did... Thought that might be helpful, and maybe help someone that was on the fence about buying one - "Do I do it, or not? Haven't seen one work yet, so I don't know..."
  13. They took a pretty serious ass-whoopin'. I'm just sayin'... First off, I'm in a boat, in the middle of the lake. Trained EYE-talian Attack Ninjas can't swim - it's not in their training manual... I quickly dispatched about 350 of them, just by letting them know that information. Had they not known that, and it not been pointed out, things could have gone WAY differently for me that night. <dontknow>
  14. I've already been looking at the Carry Nightmare. Snatch that, and I get this for free?! Serious?!
  15. Oh, make no mistake - I know what you're talking about, brother. <thumbsup> I myself, in my own way, am putting the pressure on Jon, too - since I'll be funding Dawn Marie's build. With this next check, I just might have a whole 300BLK. Which means Dawn Marie might get her 300BLK pretty damn quick. Jon, I said, Dawn Marie might be getting her 300BLK pretty damn quick.
  16. It was the idea - and proof - of these guys right here. I posted this article here, originally. They didn't use a hacksaw - they used a sawzall. http://web.archive.org/web/20080705023514/http://www.sniperschool.com/sniper-rifle-barrel-length/ http://web.archive.org/web/20080705023736/http://www.sniperschool.com/barrel-length-revisited/
  17. Okay, now here's how it all went down... No $hit, there I was, in a boat in the middle of the lake. I was surrounded by 400 trained EYE-talian Attack Ninjas, and all I was armed with was 2 Soju caps and a box of 20 peppermint toothpicks... :bat: I chopped up some brass tonight. Now, I didn't go about it stoopid - I weighed them out first, just to see if this was going to be worth my time. When the numbers came up different, I got curious. .308 Winchester brass, with primer still in it, weighed 168.0 grains even. 7.62x51 NATO brass, with primer still in it, weighed out at 190.3 grains... I suspect Foul Play. Out came the cut-off wheel. As a general rule, the 7.62x51 NATO is on the left. The .308 Winchester is on the right. In all pics below. I can get macro-stupid with these, if you guys want to see more - the original pics are about 4000 wide, and 5mb in size.
  18. We can only go so far with the 550 as a base, brother. We can make it mean, but if we start with something in the 700~800 range as a base, it'll blow your socks off. :hethan: Now, if we start with a 1000cc engine... You have over 200Hp to the tires.  :hail:
  19. I am getting a BIG paycheck this next one... I'm just sayin'... <dontknow>
  20. I'd let you short-bus-drivin', window-lickin' bastards drive me anywhere... <lmao>
  21. Damn. Got me looking at this now: http://www.stainlesstumblingmedia.com/products/package-kits/stm-complete-package.html
  22. Guy Tal had them all out on the table, brother - 4 different .308 versions. <thumbsup> * DPMS/SR-25 version * Armalite AR-10 version * SCAR 17 version * H&K G3 version
  23. 98Z5V

    Ruger SR-762

There will be a real good hands-on writeup right here within a couple weeks. <thumbsup>
  24. Those are Wolff springs - which are good, too.
  25. Wow!!! That is sweet - but I'll bet it's like firing that damn hand-cannon .460 Smith & Wesson! If I had $5k laying around... well, I wouldn't. I'd blow it on the MRAD... <lmao>
