  1. Up and running now... Intro vid posted:
  2. S&W isn't owned by Cerberus/Freedom Group, which does/did own DPMS (does anyone know the status of the selling of FG yet, and who they still own?). Even though I originally said this thing looks to be DPMS based, it's not made by DPMS - unless S&W somehow contracted them into it, for them, outside of Cerberus/FG. I don't see that happening. It's more "KAC SR-25" based, with it's ambi controls. In a sense, it should share many of the DPMS-based parts, but it could have some KAC-ish qualities that nobody knows about, yet. Time will tell.
  3. Could you charge it? Would the bolt carrier come all the way back, and into the receiver extension? If so, upper and lower center bore were okay, which would mean that it was okay. I can get light to come through any upper and lower combo, even a couple maatched sets. It's gonna be there, to some extent. I guess the only real test of it would be long-term testing. If the upper and lower center bore were off, you'd have some weird buffer face wear. At a minimum. Maybe even receiver extension wear, on the inside. Kinda like what you'd see with carrier tilt on a piston gun.
  4. That's the ONLY buffer to use on a .308 AR, with the UBR. MagPul recommends it, straight from them.
  5. ^^^ I'm with you, Terry. But, this does look good in my paw. :))
  6. ^^^ Yep.
  7. There can be a change in accuracy, based on bolt lock time. Buffer weight does play into that. If you're way overgassed, and your bolt is unlocking too soon, your accuracy will be poop. That was the whole basis for the Tubb CWS, in the first place - increase bolt lock time to increase potential accuracy - recoil reduction was a secondary (if that) design consideration.
  8. The CWS is a shell and two differently-weighted inserts. You can run just the shell, and no weights. What you're after is the 0.080" added onto the length of the carrier. <thumbsup>
  9. Flat rate UPS? Maybe shipping + insurance, combined? I'd have to check my last order with them, which wasn't long ago, but the shipping wasn't bad.
  10. I knew it. The back of the BCG isn't pushing the buffer off it's retaining pin when you close the upper and lower together. That's what is chewing up your buffer face. This is very, very similar to the early issues with the IRA sets. There's something off in the machining, with the upper receiver, lower receiver, or bolt carrier length. One of those three. I'd be very hesitant to find the fault with the Quentin Defense lower - those guys have been putting out very high quality parts for a very long time, and really know what they're doing. Short answer in all this - you can solve this problem for about $60. Insert a Tubb CWS into the bolt carrier, as it adds 0.080" to the length of the carrier. That should be enough to push the buffer off it's retaining pin, when upper and lower are closed.
  11. Staying with a "true" 1911, or anything semiauto in ,45ACP? If you're after the .45, I'd say FNP/FNX 45, man.
  12. 1. Having the gas block loosen up on you is not normal. However, only having one recess drilled in the barrel, for the rear-most set screw is normal. Using red loc-tite on those set screws is routine - should be done. 2. Get pics of that old buffer face - I know where this is going, already. Get some pics of it up, man. What upper and lower did you use on this build, again?
  13. Meprolight does a nice set for the XD pistols - would work like the Ledge setups.
  14. Welcome here - looking forward to watching this one progress. <thumbsup>
  15. Sorry if I sounded frustrated - I see a bunch of guys trying to help you, and not much to go on... My apologies...
  16. Post a pic of your actual poop man, and maybe we can figure it out. Pics-of-pics-from-somwhere-else dont really help much. Don't throw up a pic of someone else's ad, and ask what the hell it is - damn near impossible, when you're relying n thieir GB ad. At that point, you should have asked the seller what it was, ans not us... <dontknow>
  17. You baited it, like I bait Drew with 'em... <thumbsup> <laughs>
  18. I nailed that poop...
  19. You guys are truculent. Look that up - I KNOW that you do not know what it means... <laughs>
  20. ^^^ That's what sh... nevermind... <laughs>
  21. The new Pmag in there?...
  22. The you probablty realize, already, how cool the 5.56, 300BLK, .45 ACP, 9mm and .22LR are? Don't you?... <munch>
  23. I just want to see your Action Tits, man... <thumbsup> <laughs>
