  1. I know this has come up a few times, and I mentioned using a 1 1/4" 4d nail to hold the forward assist in place, while you start the roll pin. Last time I put one in, I snapped a few pics. It's always easier to follow pics, than try to understand what someone is describing with written words. <thumbsup> Here are the necessary things that you'll need: The whole reason for the use of the 1 1/4" 4d nail is simple - you'd need 3 hands to try this on your own, and two people crowded over an upper receiver is, well, crowded. The size of that hole for the rollpin is about 0.080". You can try using a punch to hold everything in place, but most punch sets that you find will have shank diameters of 0.060" (very loose, and doesn't work well) and 0.090" (won't go in the hole). Those are just the two punches that are closest. The 4d nail is just under 0.080", and works great. The recessed area below (the area at the red lines), in the forward assist, is what the rollpin has to clear, and it holds the forward assist in the upper, as well as limits it's travel. 4d nail goes up through from the bottom - insert the forward assist and it's srping - flat area on the forward assist (from the above pic) faces in towards the center of the upper. Push it in there, insert the 4d nail to hold it in place. Start the rollpin from the top - it'll go right down over the top of the nail. Once you get the rollpin started on it's way, you can remove the nail, push in on the forward assist with one hand, and strike the rollpin directly with your hammer. Seldom will the nail be in place, and the rolllpin catch the forward assist just right - most of the time, you have to push in on it a little to clear that area where the rollpin holds it in place. Sometimes, you get lucky, though. Once the rollpin is holding the forward assist in the upper, in that recess in the forward assist, you can go back to the rollpin punch and set the pin fully. Happy pounding! <thumbsup>
  2. I just gave one away last week. I glady would have sent it off to you. <dontknow>
  3. I like the 1:11.25 twist on that one - very nice. <thumbsup> D'oh! :o No you didn't... :bitchslap:
  4. Sorry, Rob - I never answered the OAL question. The 7.5" gun is exactly 25" right now. There's a way to get that down to about 18.25". That's what you'll shoot down here. <thumbsup>
  5. Bastage... :fawkdance:
  6. Come down to the Great SouthWest. Get deep in Southern Arizona - which is really Mexi-Zona. I do alot of contracts for service on vehicles that these guys use, almost daily, between all the divisions, departments, agencies, etc. BLM Law Enforcement, National Forest Service (Law Enforcement), Border (obviously),... these guys are armed, and armored. It's no joke down here, doesn't matter what the agency, and there are alot of them. Sadly, their basic job is the same, despite jurisdiction - the problem south of us. I actually work on their vehicles, and also on getting them up-armored, for themselves. I know more about what comes up, and what's out there as options, than alot of them do.
  7. That was only a matter of time. They don't know what to do with the technology, but they don't have any laws against that technology. They can't limit that technology, in any way, but they can't prosecute against that technology with the current laws about "manufacturing your own." They're clueless right now, and scrambling. For anything. What's happenning, on and individual basis, with 3d printers and firearms, is not illegal (state-by-state, of course, but not on a national BATFE level). They don't know what to do... :o
  8. Such a serious topic, but I'm cryin' over here... <laughs> <lmao>
  9. Yeah, that's across my right fingers, when I ball that hand up - it's the last thing you'll remember... <laughs> <lmao> WTF WAS THAT?!!? :o <laughs>
  10. I'ma big fan of the Barnes TSX bullet. There are technical reasons for that, but it's a badass bullet for hunting. Number of legs doesn't matter. <thumbsup>
  11. ^^^ Exactly... <thumbsup> I skipped finishing another tattoo so I could watch this. :o <laughs>
  12. I have a new trick up my sleeve, that I won't disclose until you get here. It's pretty slick. It'll help you put that 7.5" almost in your pocket... <munch> It'll DEFINITELY fit into a motor side saddlebag, brother. <thumbsup>
  13. Those things are nothing but straight NASTY. That's alot of rotors, and power, beating the air into submission... :o
  14. Rob's Pink Bunny Slippers pics MUST go on the BAD Facebook page, after these shenanigans. I'm just sayin'... <laughs> <lmao> I'm gonna make him famous... ;D <thumbsup> We're two weeks and counting, man. I can't wait. I honestly have NO idea how this is gonna turn out, but it's gonna be a riot. Are you busy in two weeks, Roger? Can you travel?... ;D You could extend that HoneyMoon, and visit the Great SouthWest. I'm just sayin'... <munch>
  15. IMHO, it's just the opposite, brother. <thumbsup> ;D Some ass was whipped, though.
  16. I probably need to call you tomorrow, so I can get another group-buy in before the festivities. I'll need that shipped before you take off. Call inbound in the morning... :o <thumbsup>
  17. That means there's gonna be a Mini-Roger! <thumbsup> That's like a mini-John Connor!!! ;D
  18. Don't sweat that, brother - you're gonna look HAWT in the Pink Bunny Slippers... <lmao>
  19. It's over. What did you guys think? Yes, this is a leading question. <munch>
  20. Aerial gunnery from a helicopter is not easy. It's been a long, long time since I've totally failed at that ( :o ), in practical application, but rotor wash has a serious affect on your round placement and sighting, depending on which side of the helicopter you're firing from. The gunner in the vid I posted was always firing from the left side in that bird, and he's adapted to that, as far as rotor wash goes - he's adapted quite well. He'd miss everything in a different chopper (with different wash), or firing from the other side, unless he's done a whole lot of that. <thumbsup> Example of extreme rotor wash - MH-53, hovering at 60 feet AGL. Rotor wash on the ground is 100mph. Fast Rope off the back of that thing, and you know... <lmao> F U C K that aircraft, for Fast Rope purposes.
  21. I run all the service on the ATVs and motorcycles at that station - I know alot of those guys. :-[ I didn't know the agent that was killed, or the agent that was shot, but I bet I'm gonna hear about it (and ask about it) the next time the guys are in for ATV service. Shitty situation.
  22. I want the video... <laughs> I LOVE Pugil Sticks - you can seriously Fornicate people up with thick broomsticks with pads on them... <thumbsup> <laughs>
  23. Congrats, Roger!!! <thumbsup> :ecs:
  24. Great point, about the common design - seeing your photos, that's exactly what they're doing. I'll dig up some of my pics from Phelps and get them in here. The chickenwire and clothes pins for hanging targets - brilliant. The shooting positions are great. One thing I noticed about your pics - I was wondering when they put the swing-down doors and stop signs up at Phelps... <laughs> That wasn't there (at Phelps) when I moved outta VA state in late 2010. That's another good idea, considering how the places are run (come and go, no dedicated range safety). <thumbsup>
