  1. Excellent advice above, all of it. <thumbsup> The hogs down there can get pretty big. Barnes 168gr TSX is what I'd recommend. ;D
  2. Forgot - the foam/rubber receiver extension covers on both are from Exile Machine. The 11.5" is wearing the CAA Stock Saddle. Another one of those is on the way for the 7.5".
  3. These will both get SBRd in the future - if we have a firearms ownership future, that is. I've been putting off getting my trust together for a very long time. Specs on these two: Both are Aero Precision lowers, sequential serial numbers, and SAA stripped uppers. Both running RRA pistol receiver extensions with Armalite CAR spings and LMT H buffers. Lower parts kits consist of KNS Precision turned lower parts kits (precision ground pins and bits) with all Armalite springs, and ALG ACT triggers. Standard safeties right now, but they'll be BAD-ASS safeties by the time the guys get here. Both have BCM BCGs, and BCM Gunfighter large-latch charging handles, and YHM lo-pro gas blocks. The differences: The 11.5" barrel is a BCM "standard" barrel, running carbine gas, Magpul Gen 1 MBUS sights, Midwest Industries T-10 rail, and an A2 flash hider. The 7.5" is an American Spirit Arms heavy barrel, running pistol gas, Magpul Gen 2 MBUS sights, Noveske KX-3 muzzle device, and I had a spare Midwest Industries SS-10 freefloat setup that I couldn't really put on anything, previously. I cut it down to clear the end of the Pig, and left some of the top rail longer, to get the front sight out there further (increase sight radius). That's about it for them. <thumbsup>
  4. Best time for them to travel - too damn hot in the summer. I'll get you up in the mountains here sometime. poop everywhere from them.
  5. Another Border Agent killed. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/10/02/2-us-border-agents-shot-1-killed-near-major-drug-cooridor-in-arizona/?test=latestnews 33 miles away from where I am. >:(
  6. Makes me happy, Roger, seeing this stuff. You deserve the recognition for what this really is - the absolute finest safety there is. <thumbsup>
  7. These guys here are about the best ones out there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiHmYsyVniE
  8. What BCG are you running? This is in the JD build, right?
  9. Yep, you have to have a buttstock on there to make it a rifle, and since it's a pistol, technically, it doesn't need a tax stamp even though it's got a short barrel. Pistol barrel length is not regulated. That buffer tube is a pistol-specific tube. It's slightly larger in diameter, and will not accept a buttstock. Kind of a "safety item" on a pistol build, so it's not even possible for someone else to imply that you could quickly change it into an illegal SBR by slapping on a stock. One word of caution Two words of caution on pistol builds: 1) They MUST be built/assembled from a lower receiver that has NEVER been built/assembled as a rifle... If it's built initially as a rifle, then it's ALWAYS a rifle, in the eyes of the BATFE. If it's assembled as a pistol, on a virgin lower, it can be converted to a rifle at a later date. If it started as a pistol initially, then converted to a rifle later, it can be reconverted back to a pistol again. 2) They're a metric poop-ton of fun to shoot. <laughs> EDIT - Please not that this post is not legal advice to any individual in any specific state, in any way. Check with your state, county, city, and regional LEOs and consult your own firearms laws in your area... <thumbsup>
  10. Don't need to run that one through the press to deprime it... <lmao> Any pressure signs on any of the other primers?

    Stuck Brass

Damn! :o Check something for me, with a spent case... Remove the complete BCG, hook the rim of the spent case into the extractor, and use it to push down the ejector until the spent case is seated on the bolt, fully. Slowly ease up on it, and see what the ejector feels like. Do that a few time, to get a feel for it. You're looking for the ejector to stick, or be rough in movement... You also have a new round moving up in the mag at the same time, and that's normal, but complicating things - with the previous spent case not getting out of the way...
  12. Looks exactly like C.F. Phelps WMA range, in VA. <thumbsup>
  13. I'll bring home the calipers tomorrow and measure my DPMS receiver. <thumbsup>
  14. Shot timers are worth their weight in gold, I'll tell ya. <thumbsup> I have a PACT Club Timer III, and love the thing. Rob and Greg are gonna hate the thing, come the October trip... <laughs>
  15. I know that feeling, man, all too well... <thumbsup> <laughs> <lmao>
  16. Not "Black Rifles." I started a pistol build a hell of a long time ago, and it never went anywhere. I actually built it, fired and sighted it, and the damn thing was never a priority - it kept getting ripped apart, and the parts used for other builds. Here was the original thread: http://308ar.com/forum/black-rifles/the-sbr-process-begins/ Well, the 11.5" was finally built and complete, and I just never mentioned it. After recent conversations here on the board, and my strong desire to corrupt my LEO brother Rob, I said I'd build another pistola - a 7.5". That one is done now, too. In time to compare the differences in total length when firing from a vehicle, during the Oct Range Fest 2012, down here in the Great SouthWest. ;D I present you with Dos Pistolas...
  17. Just couldn't help myself with another one. Found my way into another surplus bolt rifle, and this time it's the 8mm Mauser M48. It was shipped to the owner packed in cosmoline, and he got most of it out of everywhere, and did some light finish work on the stock. I got it with everything - bayonet and sheath, a little ammo, ammo pouches, oil can in case, sling, and literature. It's never, ever been fired... :o This thing is gonna kick like a pissed-off mule... ;D <thumbsup>
  18. It the tube is tight to the barrel nut, then the barrel nut is what's loose.
  19. RJ, how the hell did you find that?!... <thumbsup>
  20. It's the RSASS. I guess they finally released it for sale, after releasing the prototype almost two years ago. It was the cover weapon on the March 2011 issue of Tactical Weapons. Remember this thread?... <laughs> http://308ar.com/forum/firearm-industry-news-and-gossip/remington-rsass-7-62/msg4237/#msg4237 In retrospect, I guess the real secret here is that there might finally be FDE LR-20 Pmags... <laughs>
  21. Robert Blake. Baretta. <thumbsup>
  22. ipsick, you can have the best (combination) of both worlds, in a way. Go heavier on the buffer, to help with the recoil - heavier buffers DO help with that. After that, you can run the AAC Blackout flash hider, and almost eliminate all the flash.
  23. If you live around any military installation, then you know contractors are getting dropped left and right, en masse... O just doesn't want the numbers to kick him in his nuts, in the labor count, which will be updated days before the election...
  24. Awesome update! <thumbsup> :happydrunks:
  25. If I ever get to visit you, I'm positive that we can turn that around for ya... <thumbsup> <laughs> <lmao> <lmao>
