DPMS Barrell Gas Tube Alignment
98Z5V replied to Fishco's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
That is awesome - I'm jealous of your machinery. <laughs> <thumbsup> I wish I had my own shop, but the damn thing would have to be HUGE, to fit everything I want to be able to do... :o -
Uncle Armalite, I swear by your one-piece mount anyway, as the best deal out there. It's not heavy, it's very well made, it's repeatable when you remove/remount, and it doesn't break the bank. It was already good. I like the new one, and I'll find something to try it out on - even it I have to build another. <laughs>

Great feeling, ain't it? <thumbsup> Welcome aboard!

Yuma. ISDRA, in the Ogilby area. Have to hit a dealer demo on Sunday/Monday up north near the beach store, but the rest of the time will all be Ogilby, Gordon's Well, that general section. <thumbsup>

MIL/LEO discounted pricing through DSG Arms. Their prices are great, and are automatically displayed when you sign in (after verification and account changes).

I'll be doing this on Thursday, and for the whole next week. <thumbsup> ;D

Takes a little while, with the red dots, but once you get used to it, you'll find it's much, much faster to get on target for the initial round, and in the transitions from target to target. <thumbsup>

Do all Titan barrels have a threaded muzzle?
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Fulton Armory Titan
Pretty sure it's a 11 degree target crown. -
I think I already posted something like this before - a list of short action rounds that have been applied to semi-auto rifles. It's somewhere here... <dontknow> Found it...

Also, for common range guns that see routine maintenance, I always carry spare batteries for powered optics in the MagPul pistol grips. I have a small tackle box with all kinds of springs, detents, tools (allens, Torx, etc.) in the truck or cooler-filled-with-range supplies, with me. Spare batteries for powered optics are always on the gun. <thumbsup>

You're doing it wrong, brother - don't water it, sprinkle it with CLP twice a week. It only takes about 2 weeks for it to turn into something... Unless you add a few extra parts here and there, it'll turn into something that scares the hell out of you, though. :o Trust me on this. <thumbsup> ;D I agree with SS on this - keep parts on hand that, should they fail, will stop you from shooting. Gas rings. Extractor and Extractor springs (and inserts), even the o-rings that go around the springs. A spare bolt and cam pin. Firing pin retaining pin. Hell, firing pin, if necessary (with the bolt). Trigger and Hammer springs aren't a bad idea, as well as a disconnect spring (if that thing fails, you're doubling, or auto firing). Things that won't stop you from firing really aren't that important - detents and their springs typically won't fail, including the safety detent and spring. The bolt catch isn't going to fail, but if it does, it's not a quick-fix anyway. You're outta the fight, or competition, with that one. If the Bolt Carrier has an issue, something tells me you have some HUGE issues going on, and blew the upper and magazine apart - Suspect Foul Play. If you're going to a high round-count shooting course, carry a complete extra BCG with you, and a complete extra trigger assembly - you just never know. Taking a complete spare rifle is the best way, and the fastest way to get back on the range. Spare optics, whatever they may be, is a good idea, too. My $0.02. <dontknow>

Oh, Sweet Mary, Mother of... :o It's the .45 ACP on steroids. I just had to look this one up, and I found some scary stuff. I think I want one, too... :P

Since references were made to ITAR and the State Department, I just figured I'd toss this up there for those that have never heard of this stuff: International Traffic in Arms Regulations Items that fall under the export jurisdiction of the Office of Defense Trade Controls (ODTC), U.S. Department of State, are subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). These products cannot be transferred, trans-shipped on a non-continuous voyage, or otherwise be disposed of in any other country, either in its original form or after being incorporated into other end items, without the prior written consent of the U.S. Department of State as evidenced through the issuance of a valid permanent export license. That's what those references were about... <thumbsup>

Excellent choice on the front sling adapters, my good man! <thumbsup> I didn't want to be so bold as to suggest that item, especially after mentioning the sling to use, but I'm glad you found that one. <laughs>

Depends entirely on how many you order. <thumbsup> I've reached the minimum limit on my own order, to have it considered a "group buy..." <lmao> Call Roger with your numbers, and it might make the limit. <dontknow>

Just put that same trigger in ym 20" wood 5.56 gun. Wonderful trigger. <thumbsup> I'm up to: S3G, SSA, and SSA-E. They all do great for what they're in. I'll be picking up more SSAs based on the price I can get them for, and probably some more SSA-Es, too.

That gas block will seal itself, as you shoot a few more - doesn't take much, in normal circumstances, but it is common to see the carbon signs like that around the tube, at the block. Worry not. Once that is sealed, it might solve the last-round hold open. If it doesn't, let's dig into it some more. <thumbsup>

The URX has a proprietary barrel nut, which requires a special barrel nut wrench for installation. That barrel nut wrench is only made by... KAC. It will cost you more than $250 for the barrel nut wrench. Example: http://www.operationparts.com/KAC_Knight_s_Armament_URX_Barrel_Nut_Wrench_p/20495.htm Since you specified "or something similar," I'd start looking at what looks similar in your eyes - it's all up to you. Another option, if you're set on the URX, is to buy it from a vendor that will install it for free, for you. You'd have to ship them the upper, but they install your rail. One company that I can think of that does that is The Gun Gallery, in Florida. I like that look, too, but I went a different route - Troy MRF-308, with the KAC panels on it. Had bags of those panels stored away, anyway. Here's how mine ended up looking: Thread: http://308ar.com/forum/dpms-lr-308-general-technical-discussion/lr308-self-build/

The one from CDNN? Reports so far are that it's a pretty great gun. <thumbsup>

I'm seeing these for sale for under $1,100. I'm getting tempted. :o
