That's a very dangerous article - and I'm sure that the WaPo planned it that way. Details on this "suppressor" that the guy had need to come out, and fast. No way he just got that .45, and no way he had time to buy a real suppressor in that timeframe - not with the lead times on NFA shiit right now. This situation is so completely fucked, it's not even funny. This is some scary shiit that the MSM will jump all over - and has already, by that bullshiit article. You can tell that was very finely thought about and crafted - for a specific purpose. WaPo knew exactly what they were doing with that article. We're fucked, men, if the details on that "suppressor" don't come out.

Yep, it's gonna change the harmonics of that barrel, and exactly why you stated - stress relief. Stress relief is an important aspect of barrel manufacturing, and when it occurs in the machining process. You can't just cut a barrel down like that, and do nothing else. At a minimum, your zero will change. At the maximum, the accuracy of that barrel goes to shiit. I'd love to hear from @308kiwi on this, because I know he's a barrel-machining Ninja.

Avoid the DPMS GII if you can - it's cool, at almost-AR15 sized, but there's a shiit-ton of proprietary parts in there, and the aftermarket doesn't support that 100%. On the other hand - there's no way in the world that you'd be disappointed with that LaRue, and you wouldn't have to change a single thing on it. Welcome aboard...

Fuk yeah, they can... They're good people, though, too. In 2010 I ordered a gen-u-wine Armalite 16" midlength gas 5.56 barrel from them - to be for a birthday-present build. The barrel that came in was a 20" rifle gas barrel... I called them immediately, and explained that I got the wrong barrel shipped, and had 4 days to get this gun built. They told me not to worry about it, and they'd take care of it. They overnighted me the correct barrel, and and included the shipping tag for the return of the other barrel. They didn't even need the other barrel back first... "Just put it in the box that this next one comes in, same packaging and padding, tape it up and stick that label on it..." Fuk yeah! They fuckin' rock, and that solidified my expensive relationship with them, right then. They hooked my up with magazines after Sandy Hook, too. Spent 30 minutes with me on the phone, to gather them up for me. I could go on and on about them, and the stories - they're just great people...

I just found this info - did a little re-research on Quarter Circle 10. I've had a 9mm Colt-mag/UZI mag lower from them since 2012 - back when they were making all of DDLES stuff for them. They're recommending the Sprinco RED spring as the preferred spring for PCCs. The Sprinco Orange spring is a heavy duty .308AR spring, for .308ARs using the 7.000" extension and a 2.500" buffer length. The Sprinco Red spring is a heavy duty .308AR spring for use with 7 5/8" extensions and a 3.250" H3 buffer.
