  1. ALG Defense did one very, very similar a few years ago, the EMR V2. They discontinued the thing in 12", and that's what I need for this barrel. The only AP ATLAS version not released yet is the damn 12"... Figures...
  2. THAT is some dedication, right there!!!
  3. I'm still trying to save up enough for my Craddock Precision .260 Rem barrel, man... I keep ambushing myself with other projects...
  4. Next, I'm bit by the Grendel Bug pretty bad, already. I'll turn that Faxon 18" Gunner barrel into a lightweight hunter, but before I do that... I GOTTA BUILD A 12.7" GRENDEL PISTOL!!! This is killin' me, lookin' at this. It's gotta happen... It'll get shot up with some Patriot Brown, of course.
  5. So Aero Precision just released a Service Edition builder set for the 5th branch of the service - the US Coast Guard. I gotta say, I loved that Air Force set, and this one is a close runner up. This looks damn good. https://aeroprecisionusa.com/m4e1-em15-coast-guard-builder-set.html

First, you ask a supposed safety question, then inform us that you've already shot it, adverse to the safety question that you asked. Then, you report back that you already know everything about it (your post above). So, you asked a question and advice on something that you already knew everything about, and didn't really need an answer at all, because you already did the very thing that's against what you were asking about in the first place... Was I married to you? Didn't we get divorced in 1999?...
  7. That's just like commercial receiver extension or mil-spec receiver extension! Cut threads or rolled threads... Damn it, man...
  8. I'm thinking that the chicken is starting to work out here...
  9. That would have sucked...
  10. They put one hell of a primer pocket crimp on that stuff - that's gonna be hell to cut out. I don't even think the RCBS Swager 2 tool would take that whole thing out, unless it was a couple passes with the ram.
  11. Swimming with a gun sucks. I can tell you that from firsthand experience. It just sucks.
  12. Keep that trigger, man - it's a good one, and you can "tweak it" more if you need to. Here's a writeup I did on one:
  13. LaRue, hands down. Reason = 2-stage. I have several of both, and the Velocity is a sweet single stage - but it won't beat a LaRue MBT2S.
  14. See. Those guys knew that the firing pin hole in the bolt face was too big...
  15. I just picked up one of these yesterday - I'd be pissed if it was stuck on someone else's rifle, and I couldn't get it back... I'd be after it with the sawzall!... By the way, it's a seriously badass armorer's wrench.
  16. This will fix it...
  17. Brother, did you notice the fine layer of AZ dust all over the stuff? It survived the whole Fall Shootfest without being given away, and was covered in dust - I just couldn't bring myself to wipe it all off, before sending it to you...
  18. Told you guys that the .260 Remington was getting big in SOF - I didn't know that Bill Geissele made this rifle, until I got this magazine issue yesterday... http://www.recoilweb.com/geissele-project-joy-133176.html
  19. Or, the scope isn't level with the rifle. Verify that your scope is level, first.
  20. SureFire 123 battery, brother.
  21. Back at the Grendel news... Stiffer recoil than the 5.56 stuff. Between 5.56, 300BLK and 25-45, they all feel the same. Well, for some reason, the 25-45 recoil feels a little bit less than regular 5.56. Weird. Anyway, the Grendel has more of a kick to it, but I still wouldn't call it anything near "heavy recoil..." No way... You can tell there's a difference, though. Built the recoil system from the parts box - regular carbine buffer spring, mil-spec carbine receiver extension, and a standard-weight carbine buffer (3.0 oz). I figured that would be the first thing to change now, but instead of just going to a heavier carbine buffer, I picked up a VLTOR A5 recoil system. They have a receiver extension with either 6 positions or 7 positions - so I grabbed the 7 position. Did the A5 H1 buffer, which is 4.56oz - damn near the same as a carbine H2 buffer, which would be 4.7oz. Armalite M16 rifle spring. Probably won't get it out until next weekend, but we'll see what kind of difference it makes. I've got some buffer options in the future, if I want to go heavier. Weights for the A5 buffers A5 H0: 3.80oz A5 H1: 4.56oz A5 H2: 5.33oz A5 H3: 6.08oz A5 H4: 6.83oz Compared to these: AR15 Carbine Buffer Weights Carbine Buffer (Avg 3.0 oz) Heavy (H) Buffer (Avg 3.8 oz) H2 Buffer (Avg 4.7 oz) H3 Buffer (Avg 5.6 oz) Rifle Buffer (Avg 5.0 oz)
  22. Right on, man. Keep it hidden.
  23. Well, I've got 4 or 5 of these things now. None of them have adjustable gas blocks, just standard gas blocks. None of them have fancy recoil systems - one is a DPMS rifle recoil system, but with an Armalite EA1095 spring. The others all run Armalite AR-10 Carbine recoil systems. Regular gas tubes, one rifle length gas system, the others are mid. They run, no issues, no tuning required. Bought decent barrels, and haven't even had to drill a gas port in any of them.
  24. Damn, that was quick!
  25. I was just getting ready to say that, when I saw that picture. It looks like half the fucking hardware section at Ace... That shiit's gonna fly apart at the most inopportune time... Yeah, they do... they speak of me in none other than reverent tone...
