  1. I'm pretty positive that your groups would shift - if this is the 16" handguard that you were talking about moving and flexing... Think about how that scope would move.
  2. Measure the inside of the receiver extension, brother - that's what counts. Alot of times, a mil-spec AR-15 carbine receiver extension (7" internal depth) will have an external length of 7.25". Check the inside.... shove the tape measure down there to the bottom, and read it at the top of the lower receiver, where the extension ends... Your target measurement, with the buffer you have (3.250" length) needs to be 7 5/8". If you hit 7 5/8" internal depth, you have the correct length buffer - but the weight is off. H isn't H3. Better than a standard carbine buffer, but it's light for a 308AR. If you have a 7" internal depth - wrong buffer completely. Surprised it would function. It's certainly not gonna bottom out and have the BCG crashing into the ears on the lower, though.
  3. THere's good land available down here in AZ, brother. I'm just sayin'...
  4. I'm a big fan of face shooting. Doesn't matter what it is, man or beast. It will stop what it's doing when it take one in the grape. Doesn't have to die, doesn't have to be a T-Zone shot. Even if it's a non-lethal shot, in the face, man or beast reconsiders their actions, quickly.
  5. The Olympic Arms 22-250 has been out about 2 years, if I remember right. I think they accomplished it by (literally) lengthening AR-15 receivers, to account for the longer loaded-bullet length. It still uses all AR-15 parts, but I can't remember on the BCG setup. Theres something in their 22-250 rifle information that states you can still use it for .223, by swapping a few parts. Yep, it's right on that link I posted: The following features are used in addtion to standard features on the UMAR lower receiver: 1. Modified UMAR AR-15 lower receiver magazine well. Designed specifically for the UMAR magazines to accept the venerable .22-250 caliber and long WSSM loads. 2. Threaded bolt catch hole: designed for a quick and easy change of your bolt catch between standard 5.56 magazine and the UMAR magazines, (Which use different bolt catches). Swap back and forth in seconds! 3. All modified UMAR lower receivers can also readily accept every standard AR-15 upper and caliber option. The UMAR lower is applicable to all AR-15 calibers from .22 LR and 5.56 NATO, to the WSSM and .22-250 calibers. Just swap the upper, the magazine and the bolt catch (if needed). 4. UMAR magazines come in two vatieties: .22-250 or WSSM/OSSM
  6. Did someone say that shepp was looking for land, so he can host some .308AR Shootfests?...
  7. Here's how Olympic Arms accomplished it - something to think about... http://www.olyarms.com/shop/rifles/umar-rifles/umar-22250.html
  8. Gettin' close on this one. At least in a "shooting configuration." More details to follow...
  9. Am I seeing the forming of the first ever Midwest "Spring Thaw" Shootfest?!!? YES!!!
  10. Damn, that sucks - that was a helluva deal.
  11. That is exactly what I stated earlier. the 5.900" rifle buffer is for an AR-15, not a 308AR. The 308AR rifle buffers are 5.200" long (not RRA). Exactly what I said. Good to see you buying quality components, though - seriously.
  12. Damn good scope, men.
  13. Can I have my magnified optic bridge the upper and the 16" rail? Even if the rail flexes alot?
  14. Where did you buy it? The buffer, in your Big AR, where did it come from, and what brand is it?
  15. Excellent, Doc!!!
  16. My bet is on some FB censoring, for firearms-related media... Bastards...
  17. Because stainless barrels are neither chrome-lined, nor nitrided... Stainless barrels, by their very nature, are unlined barrels - and this article is about two different methods for lining the barrel...
  18. ISSUE #1 is taht you have an AR-15 rifle buffer in there. ISSUE #2 is just pure bullpoopy. 3 of the big ARs I have are Aero M5 sets. Not one single one of them is running any special mag release, at all. They're all running regular run-of-the-mill AR-15 mag releases, and buttons. All of them. You are mistakenly thinking that you need to bury that mag release button on the threaded stud until it's flush - and you don't. There's PLENTY of engagement on a standard release, and a standard, non-fancy button. What you're not understanding here is this - for many, many years, the large-frame ARs have been around. For all those years, there was never a special mag release assembly for these large ARs, and everything worked fine - for all those years. Now, companies are cropping up everywhere, customers are asking questions, and companies are either making new parts to satisfy customers that don't know the difference - or the companies don't know the difference. Now, as far as Aero goes - I don't care who you spoke to, what they told you, etc. That doesn't make what they told you accurate, or unarguable. How many of those guys built a large frame AR 10 years ago? What mag release setup did they use then?... I'm telling you, plain and simple, that my Aero M5 lower receivers all have regular AR-15 mag releases and buttons in them, and they all function just fine. Now, please explain to me how you can't install a regular AR-15 mag release asembly in an Aero M5 lower receiver. Please, explain to me that it doesn't fit, and doesn't work.-
  19. I'd vote .260 Remington, all day long.
  20. I wish I had a ton of readily spendable loot, brother. The simple truth is...
  21. I watched it a couple days ago - it was there, I swear!... Somebody hacked the Matrix!...
  22. OB, your wife is cool, awesome present... yada yada yada... ...but no pics of this pistol yet?!!?
  23. This is part of my point here - the AR-15 mag release isn't too short. It doesn't need to be longer, to fully install and function fine. I have 4 of these things as living proof. You stated your buffer was 6" long. Something's wrong with the buffer, for absolute certain. AR-15 rifle buffers are 5.900" long, and .308AR rifle buffers are 5.200" long (if they're not RRA LAR-series).
  24. I think you might be fibbing to me...
  25. Ordered!!! Thank you, Dion!!!
