  1. I've been wanting one of those rifles for years and years, brother - very nice, and congrats.
  2. Yep. About 9 months out of the year, too.

    Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you, too, Ron, and a high hearty Fuk You, you filthy animal... I know you well. You're alot like me.
  4. Damn, that is one nice blade, brother.
  5. It was easily 80 degrees warmer than that here today. 80 degrees...
  6. You have the right buffer length, then, for that receiver extension. 2.5" buffer is the correct one for a 7" internal-depth carbine receiver extension. I was thinking that spring was too short - even AR15 carbine buffer springs are longer than that. Don't be nervous about drilling that gas port up - just go slow. You don't need that drill turning 10-million RPM. Stick a 1/4" wooden dowel down the barrel, like wash said, and you'll be alright. Use light pressure on the drill - you don't need your bodyweight on the drill to get a larger bit through that gas port.
  7. Also, collapsible stock or fixed stock? Had to ask... EDIT - Disregard, we posted at the same time. Internal depth on that receiver extension should be either 7.000" or 7 5/8".
  8. There's no way that gas port is large enough, but you might have some recoil system issues as well. Need to get measurements on the following: Receiver extension internal depth/length inside. Buffer length Relaxed length of the buffer spring, and how many coils it is.
  9. Welcome, Donkey - from your intro post, it looks like you'll fit in fine here...
  10. This made my Christmas, right here...
  11. New pair of Altama boots. Wore them all day working them in. Very comfy so far. https://originalfootwear.com/collections/altama/products/vengeance-sr-8-side-zip?variant=42541720773
  12. I've used one of their rail sections - mounts to M-Lok AND Keymod, one rail section, doesn't matter what your pattern. It works well. Also have their trigger jig, and it's good.
  13. I feel your pain - in general. I'll be 50 next spring... I don't like slowing down, not one bit...
  14. When we look at the cost of mags - it doesn't matter. Look at mag-fed bolt guns. AI mags are $100 each. Accurate Mags are $80 each. MagPul bolt action mags are around $30 each. For another bolt gun, Ruger GSR poly mags are $40 each. For the 308ARs, Lancer mags are $35 each. I'll be dropping about $60 each for the mags for my 300 Win Mag. Mag cost isn't as significant as it might seem. It's minor, really.
  15. Would have been alot faster to change mags, than what she was doing. Also looks like she dropped one or two with every "fistfull" she tried to load.
  16. For Hornady 30-cal projos, you can load everything up to 208gr to 2.800", which should work in a PMag. You CANNOT load the 212gr ELD-X to that, it gets a COL of 3.000". Oddly, you CAN load the 220gr ELD-X to 2.800". I'm loading some of those long, skinny bitches up and testing them out at distance.
  17. "AR10" is pretty commonly used, and shouldn't be, for a very specific reason. What's the pattern on your extension?
  18. We're going bigger than that, brother - my 178s will be the bare minimum. 195s, 208s, and 220s coming up. These bitches: 195 BTHP Match, sectional density 0.294 with a .550 G1 BC: https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/30-cal-308-195-gr-bthp#!/ 195 ELD Match, sectional density 0.294 with a .584 G1 BC: https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/30-cal-308-195-gr-bthp#!/ 208 ELD Match, sectional density 0.313 with a .690 G1 BC!!!: https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/30-cal-308-208-gr-eld-match#!/ 220 ELD-X, sectional density 0.331 with a .650 G1 BC: https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/30-cal-308-208-gr-eld-match#!/ I know I can load .308 Win with that 220 above, but I don't know if I can get this 225 in a .308 case - but I can get it in the Win Mag case! 225 ELD Match, sectional density 0.339 with a .777 G1 BC!!! Holy shiit!!! https://www.hornady.com/bullets/rifle/30-cal-.308-225-gr-eld-match#!/
  19. Why Sectional Density is so important... (wait for the "Part 2"...) http://abesguncave.com/sectional-density-all-important-and-almost-ignored/ ...and... "Why the .308 Sucks"... Seriously, this is good info. We need to shoot heavier .308 bullets. I've been doing it for awhile now, and I'll go even heavier, now... http://abesguncave.com/why-the-308-sucks-and-the-military-knew-it/
  20. Here's a great write-up on it all from Clint McKee: http://fulton-armory.com/faqs/M1C-FAQs/M1Carbine.htm
  21. And a little more to that - all these manufacturing companies were contracted to complete xxxx numbers of M1 Carbines per allotted timeframe. There was a HUGE push to rapidly field the M1 Carbine. Rockola might have had a thousand receivers and no barrels or bolts. IBM is sitting on SOME bolts, but no receivers or barrels. Winchester would have barrels, and need bolts. Singer might have receivers (only thing they produced)... They would trade. Seriously. Deals left and right with the other companies, to make the quota, and get those carbines produced. Here's a list of the companies that made M1 Carbines: Over 6 million carbines in 38 months... M1 Carbine Production Inland Manufacturing Division, G.M.C...... 2,632,097 43.0% Winchester Repeating Arms Co................ 828,059 13.5% Underwood-Elliot-Fisher Co.................. 545,616 8.9% *=right> Saginaw Steering Gear Div., G.M.C........... 517,212 8.5% **=right> National Postal Meter Co.................... 413,017 6.8% ***=right> Quality Hardware & Machine Co............... 359,666 5.9% International Business Machines Corp (IBM).. 346,500 5.7% Standard Products Co........................ 247,160 4.0% Rock-Ola Co................................. 228,500 3.7% --------- Total: 6,221,220
  22. Damn women...
  23. I feel for ya, FreQ. That sucks to have to do that, man.
  24. 98Z5V

    New guy here.

If you were any further southwest, you'd have to be a mermaid, brother...
  25. I want another one, Rob. Mine is all IBM, matching. That's a strong indication that it wasn't original, and someone actually searched out the parts and put it together from the IBM parts. I'll never, ever get rid of it, as it was a gift from my dad - it was actually HIS retirement present when he got out of the Army. I'd love to have a Rockola or a Singer. Something iconic like the M1 Carbine, made by a jukebox company and a sewing machine company. I think my typewriter carbine is pretty badass. That's what makes these things so damn cool.
