Nope, not in the least. Any scope with at least 3x magnification will already be focused further out than the front sight post. In short, the magnified optic blows right past it, and you don't even see it. This happens in some brands of scopes, at even lower magnification. Fear not. Mount up your magnified optic.

NOW you went and did it, Shib!... <lmao> IMHO, they're both stock triggers that are SUPPOSED to be mil-spec patterned. Lots to be desired in that trigger system. it wouldn't matter if one brand felt smoother in your rifle than the other, because someone else could buy those same two brands and find the opposite result. Because? They are both mass-produced, made from a minimum standard on materials, and produced in mass quantity with machine bits that wear - thus you won't wind up with two that are exactly, in every dimension, the complete same. In a nutshell, they suck. They have their battlefield place, but they suck.

OP, your receiver extension is the right depth for the recoil system you have. So is your buffer. That last pic of your BCG, and it's distance to the bolt catch - that's where you want to be. If that's 2 quarters, run it. If it's 6 quarters - run it. whatever that is, that's what you're stuck with. What this comes down to is machining. Not good, but workable. Just have to live with it. EDIT - this is the reason you're seeing the issues that you are. No need to look any further, test any other components, etc. This is the issue, and it happens more often than you think.

Ever plan on needing to take it off? if so, there are several good one-piece mounts out there. One of the most affordable (and tough as hell) is the Armalite. No kidding. You can go up in price from there. I have one Bobro mount, and that thing is just pure sweet. I have a few ADM mounts, and love 'em. It's up to you, really. If you never intend to (or foresee the need to) take the scope off, then one of the best values is the Warne Maxima steel rings. You can get those in a QD version as well.

There are no military specifications for 308 ARs, like there are for M16s and M4s. The material might be the same as spec'd for the smaller rifles, though.

Welcome. Please list your preferences, besides "under 1 inch groups at 100 yards..." What's the purpose of the weapon? Barrel length? Desired weight? Example: If you want a 5lb 14"-barreled weapon for hog hunting - then we might have a hard time getting you there.

At the 0:20 point in the vid - I have no idea how that guy downrange didn't get shot with those shots... :eek: Those had to have impacted very, very damn close to him...

Next step after that will be: Measure how far back the front of the bolt face is from the rear edge of the bolt catch - you need to determine how much over travel there is with this setup. The greater the amount of over travel, the higher the chances are of breaking the bolt catch on the last round. You'll need to fine tune that gap, and reduce that distance with - yep, you guessed it - stacking quarters. Or, buying new parts. Excessive over travel is the entire reason your BCG is slamming into your lower receiver.

Nobody's gonna give you grief, man. You don't have enough receiver extension to install a longer buffer. Something significantly longer than the 2.5" shorty buffer isn't going to work with your setup. Best thing to do is measure that receiver extension's internal depth, and see where it's at. let us know what you come up with. <thumbsup>

I think the internal depth is off. For rhe components you're using, you should be using a receiver extension that has an internal depth of 7". If that 7.25" measurement you got is the internal depth, that's your problem. To verify, stack quarters in the end of the receiver extension until you close that internal depth to 7", then insert spring and buffer, and try it out with live ammo.
