  1. I'm rockin' 405gr lead over 50 grains of 3031 - let's shoot 'em! <lmao> it doesn't kick like a pissed off mule - it's like getting run over by a hippo.
  2. Nope, I'm not gonna do it. Not this time. It doesn't matter that the post is TWO YEARS OLD when it was replied to!!! I'm not gonna say it this time...
  3. Now, see - for some reason, I thought you were from the El Paso, Texas area. I had no idea you were from kalifornia. I have NO IDEA why I thought that... <lmao>
  4. Then it's not a tight chamber. You need to start looking at other things that can be causing this. Can one of the Mods change the thread title, now?
  5. Ever plan on needing to take it off? if so, there are several good one-piece mounts out there. One of the most affordable (and tough as hell) is the Armalite. No kidding. You can go up in price from there. I have one Bobro mount, and that thing is just pure sweet. I have a few ADM mounts, and love 'em. It's up to you, really. If you never intend to (or foresee the need to) take the scope off, then one of the best values is the Warne Maxima steel rings. You can get those in a QD version as well.
  6. Pull up your Big Girl Panties and deal with it. You're going to build another rifle anyway, so just stop bitching already... <lmao>
  7. There are no military specifications for 308 ARs, like there are for M16s and M4s. The material might be the same as spec'd for the smaller rifles, though.
  8. Can you seat a round in the chamber, all the way up to the case shoulder? No BCG - just put the round in the chamber...
  9. ^^^ Bigtime. :hail:
  10. beachmaster also has a G II, and that thing has zero issues. Post up what's happening, and why you might need to send it back.
  11. Mike, let's just get to it already... :wtf: are you planning on building?!...
  12. Kinda seems like you're laying this build on us - like it's OUR responsibility or something. How about this - let's see what YOUR WALLET can do?... Deal?... <dontknow> We can recommend any build you want. the question is whether you can afford what we recommend. It's in your hands now. In your initial post here, you kinda come off like a dick. Now's your chance to amend that. Might be just me, but i don't think so.
  13. Mike, I hope it doesn't rain that weekend - we may not make it out there... <lmao>
  14. Welcome. Please list your preferences, besides "under 1 inch groups at 100 yards..." What's the purpose of the weapon? Barrel length? Desired weight? Example: If you want a 5lb 14"-barreled weapon for hog hunting - then we might have a hard time getting you there.
  15. At the 0:20 point in the vid - I have no idea how that guy downrange didn't get shot with those shots... Those had to have impacted very, very damn close to him...
  16. Next step after that will be: Measure how far back the front of the bolt face is from the rear edge of the bolt catch - you need to determine how much over travel there is with this setup. The greater the amount of over travel, the higher the chances are of breaking the bolt catch on the last round. You'll need to fine tune that gap, and reduce that distance with - yep, you guessed it - stacking quarters. Or, buying new parts. Excessive over travel is the entire reason your BCG is slamming into your lower receiver.
  17. Nobody's gonna give you grief, man. You don't have enough receiver extension to install a longer buffer. Something significantly longer than the 2.5" shorty buffer isn't going to work with your setup. Best thing to do is measure that receiver extension's internal depth, and see where it's at. let us know what you come up with. <thumbsup>
  18. I think the internal depth is off. For rhe components you're using, you should be using a receiver extension that has an internal depth of 7". If that 7.25" measurement you got is the internal depth, that's your problem. To verify, stack quarters in the end of the receiver extension until you close that internal depth to 7", then insert spring and buffer, and try it out with live ammo.
  19. Damn, that is awesome on several different levels. fast, inexpensive, high quality - it violates ALL the machinist's rules! <lmao>
  20. Probably not - that's the "you snooze you lose' rule. Don't really expect a high-hard-fast run on these things - they'll be on the shelves for years, for the "recoil sensitive" people. How much recoil do you really have to eat in a 5.56 or .308 AR rifle, anyway?... As soon as they make one that chops down the recoil on the Marlin 1895 45-70, I'll scoop it up in a heartbeat. Until then, though... It's just another group of moving parts that you don't need. Man up, lift weights, push cars for PT, and don't be recoil sensitive. Eat more spotted owl. Makes your dick bigger, too. <thumbsup>
  21. It's another moving part, and all moving parts have the potential for failure over time. Limit the amount of moving parts that you have, and you limit the potential for failure. My opinion is: Don't complicate schit with Complicated Schit. Stick with a solid buffer body. The "Sproing and Twang Boys" will be along shortly.
  22. ^^^^ AAAAAAND DEN! That thing runs like a swiss watch, too. I can vouch for the brake he uses. <thumbsup>
  23. And some 5FDP. :hail:
  24. I'm always on the lookout for them, too - for the same reason. :hethan: <hump>
