Malig8r
I'll leave all of that facebook crap to the rest of you guys. I see no purpose for it (for me) in life.I'm of the same opinion. I find it tedious and trivial. My family give me crap about not having a "facepalm book" account but have come to accept my position on it. Charlie
I've been on Facebook a while, and I have learned a couple of things about itI'm a founding member and past president of the local homebrew club. The previous prez and I maintained a facebook page, but only to drive potential members to our website and forum. The guy who succeeded me was a technology dumb butt, and didn't delve into on-line media. For six years the club website and forum thrived, and the forum was teeming with new posts and information. There were recipes, experiments, equipment and ingredient info, a newbie help forum, and all sorts of stuff. Then we got a president who was gaga over facebook and pretty much migrated all business to it. Then he took a powder and left me holding the sack. All of a sudden I have a dead forum and no data about membership, events or business that has been conducted and contemplated. The problem with trying to operate a club off a facebook page is that all posts are not categorized and organized into topics like they are on a forum (we use phpBB). I found that nobody was keeping records, and what little information there was was scattered all over multiple facebook pages some of which I could not access! I'm playing catch up, and it's happening, but it's a slow process. The other thing about facebook is that potential employers might not like it that you're active in certain areas, or have opinions that are contrary to theirs. I am active in shooting, collecting and appreciating firearms, and a strong supporter of The Constitution and the 2nd Ammendment (this gives some people hives). I like cars and trucks, and playing with them (he's not green!). I'm an avid homebrewer (he's probably a drunk). I am a strong believer in taking responsibility for your actions and paying your own way (ooooh! He's racist!).You get the picture.Charlie

Like I said before Facebook meters what you see eventually we disappeared off people's news feeds unless you were liking posts everyday or going to the page. I noticed this greatly between the likes we got on topics and what showed up in my own feeds. I had a lot of local restaurants on in my feeds I loved it because I could see what the specials were what events they were having and so on. after a few months of not seening their posts I thought wtf why am I not seeing their posts, are they not posting?!? Nope face book was limiting what I saw, and that was just one example.
imschur
All social media is necessary today. FB plays games I cant stand though.Instagram is my personal favorite social media. I actually enjoy that.
blue109
After I got married my wife changer her last name. My last name isn't common, and pretty soon people started messaging her asking if she was my wife. She got tired of that and added my name to her page, so now I have Facebook. I will say the troll potential is epic. I wreck vice news several times a day, along with local news pages. Its very entertaining. The down side is all my family members who I never see in real life get to see what an awful human I am. Also reconnected with some army bros I would have never heard from again. Charlie
Also reconnected with some army bros I would have never heard from again. FB definitely has a plus side. I have reconnected with friends from high school, old bands I was in (I play music too), and jobs I had when I was in high school! It's a cool tool, but I need to watch my mouth if I'm going to ever get a job. And I hate that!Charlie (retired, bored, and looking)
Sisco
Every time I go in a gun store, I start thinking it is time to go back to work and earn some money.
survivalshop
I have seen enough of FB to know it would be a waste of my time & since the owners are friends of the Commies & have no problem sharing all your info to them , I have no use for it . It is good to keep up on the Family gossip ( the wife keeps me informed , which is another thing I could care less of ).

blue109
On the plus side...they may watch it, and they may be able to influence it, but it's too big to control. If it wasn't for social media, few would know or care who Edward snowden is. Few would know about benhazi. It is what you make of it. I push my foil hard every chance I get.
