In the stan I was a saw gunner, I learned to drive those bipod legs in the ground or against whatever I could to keep a more steady position to keep my shots from opening up. when they passed on my saw to someone else, I applied the same logic to my m4. with my harris bipod I mounted it backwards so when closed the legs pointed forward. with this setup I shot my m4 similar to my saw, digging in and leaning in, so that when shooting it was like shooting a pellet gun. And the legs did extend past my muzzle, but I saw no ill effect on accuracy when legs were forward.

The other benefit I found to having the legs pointed forward, though this shouldn't have much affect on a bench shooter, I used a vertical grip and found with the legs pointing towards me, they got in the way of the vertical grip. Having the legs pointed forward I was able to have much more freedom with the vertical grip and other attachments I put on my rifle.

To this day, any rifle I put a harris bipod on, I have the legs usually forward.

Thanks ART. Think I'll take it to the range and try it both ways.

The color is awesome Bigbrew. Damn nice looking rifle.

Thanks Bean,  talked to Fulton today,  they said my barrel was in and should be on its way. Last piece to the puzzle. Wish I did the black parts in Cerakote though to keep the color more consistent in those areas. Maybe next winter.

Well if you want to know what a NYS legal AR10 looks like, here it is. Not going to lie shooting this may totally suck,  there's nothing to hold onto. Sketchy at best I'm guessing.

Are you sure this is legal?  I expect NY commies will say you could use the bipod as a hand hold.

Forward grip isn't a bipod the way I read it. Too damn long anyway,  better have some strong monkey arms.

I was referring to how the commie authorities in NY would interpret it/  Besides, I actually have those long monkey arms and can easily use a bipod as a forward handhold, even on my 20" barrel creedmoor build,I know I've tried it.

It's gonna be tough as hell to get a good cheek weld with that scope so high.  Might need a chin weld...

Yep, I tried that high mount when I first got an AR-10, tried a setup that allowed you to see the irons under the scope, changed it real fast. Heads up height works for red dots/ Binion type sight pictures but scopes need to be kept as low as possible IMHO.

Eugene Stoner is spinning in his grave.....rest in peace.....for they do not know what they have done                Wash

I can't imagine living in a state where you have to do that, be it New York, Cali, or one of the other socialist states on the eastern seaboard...  I feel for the people there...

Believe it or not for me it doesn't seem bad,  scope was touching the handguard  the other way with the old scope. I can add the kit to my stock, got a few birthdays going on this month so ill probably grab it in a few weeks. I just threw the scope on quick last night going to give it a test run on Sunday. Scope has to come back off the rings are being sent out to be color matched to the gun. The first set of rings I had were then I changed scopes and needed 30mm rings, ill try as get it lower when it goes back together the next time.

Thanks for the advice.
