checked and local shop carries the Berger 140 Hybrids. Berger also has a 144 and 153 hybird trarget to try.

Hornandy has the 140,144 and 147 in their line up to try

My .260 loves Hornady 147s, all day long.  Go heavy.  Hornady also has the 153gr A-Tip, but that's just projectiles.  I'm not ready to blow out $100 for 50 of those things yet, but that will get me one day, and I'll do it, load them, love them, then get poorer.  This is the vicious circle of life, in this community.

The 147 ELD-Match that I load has a G1 BC of .697, which is just fucking silly.  That 153 A-Tip has a G1 drag of .704 - which I'm not ready to drop additional coin on, for such a small gain.  There's also a 143gr ELD-X... Expanding projectile that's rolling a G1 drag of .625, which is very badass for an expanding projectile.  I'd shoot a moose at 800 yards with that thing, hands down, knowing how this .260 shoots already.

Never thought I'd ever say this - but I don't want to paint that gun.  That thing is sexy AF just like it sits, brother.

This new-ish 7mm-08 thing...   0.284" projectiles...

The Hornady 175 ELD-X projectile has a G1 drag of .689.  This thing should be BAD.  Hornady states 1:8.5" twist minimum, but my WC 18" barrel is 1:9" twist.  We'll see if I can make this thing work.  I hope it does.  I REALLY hope it does.  Time will tell...   LOTS of time...

If I can't get those things to group, because Hornady is correct on minimum twist, then I have to back down to the 162gr ELD-X, with a .630 G1 - which definitely doesn't suck, at all.  They state minimum twist of 1:9.5" on that one, so I know that one will work well.  I just want to strike gold with those 175s...

Alright, enough about that, no more talk on it.  /Done.  I'll work out details on it much later.  No more thread-jack.  :bitchslap:

Like I said my WK180 needs some flare as it's the only ARish gun of mine that isn't under house arrest. I'll come down early and you can work your magic

I'm running a 1-7.5 twist for the heavier bullets.

The 140s will run in both the 6.5 CM and PRC but looking at 147 and greater for the PRC. Right now Hornady 147gr Match rounds is easily availible so that's what I'll buy as a scource of brass.

It's not a real thread till it gets derailed

7.5" twist it perfect for those, brother, and your caliber.  8" twist would be great, and you're doing it a little better.  Won't have a single issue with those 147s, not in the least.  As far as looking at something more than 147s - very little out there.  That's about the pinnacle of the 6.5mm projectile.  Well, minus that crazy expensice 153 A-Tip, and some wild Bergers.  147 is the top of the "regular" pile, brother.  Don't fear it, don't look for more - embrace it.  It's the magic.

Just keeping it real, and on topic, so you don't blame me for the

So took her out shooting today, after going through the suggested barrel break in got sighted in at 100M.

Still playing with finding the sweet spot for scope/cheekrest. For a first time out with factory ammo, overall very happy as I know things will tighten up as I dial things in. Once I build up more brass, I'll be able to start working up some loads which should result in a ragged hole at 100M.

Eff the 7mm o8 If you want to build the ultimate 7mm just built a 284 Winchester it was a factory round for over 60 years brass is easy to get and it works in a short action but case capacity is much greater thn 308 case and it is the most popular cartridge in F class open which is where all the records are made for 1000 yards . Now I may be wrong but I am not sure you can use any of the 175 through 180 grain projectiles in a short action it would be a really compressed load to get it to what? 2.80 length...hence the 284 wheeler, 7mm PRC, 7Mag, anyway the 284 wheeler which is just a long throated version of a 284 made just for 180 grain Berger hybrids is a easy shooting round and not so much a barrel burner like the version I shoot 6.5x284N....

284 Win used to be made in the Winchester 100 semi auto rifle and the Winchester 88 lever action and the savage 99 another lever action and basically a 270 in a lever gun and I am positive if it was made in a lever gun it could be done in a semi auto AR style gun what a ass kicker that would be ...... check out the new berger

New 6.5 mm 153.5 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target bullets

Berger’s 6.5mm 153.5 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target™ is the latest projectile offering in the highly anticipated Long Range Hybrid Target™ (LRHT™) product line. The 6.5mm 153.5 Grain LRHT boasts a high BC, G1 0.694 G7 0.356 jump-tolerant hybrid ogive profile that is Doppler Radar verified with less than 1% BC variation. A high Ballistic Coefficient is important for competitive shooting, but shot-to-shot consistency is the most critical aspect when engaging targets out to 1,000 yards and beyond.

from a article on best 7mm bullet BC,s

Ballistic coefficient makes a tremendous difference in downrange ballistics. Hunters who choose a 195 Berger EOL hunting bullet compared to a 140gr Nosler Accubond–even if both bullets are shot at 2,800fps– would see 6″ less drop and 8″ less wind drift at 500 yards.

I’ve put together a convenient table of the highest BC bullets on the market. I’m sure I didn’t get everything, but these are some of the most popular options.

The highest-BC 7mm match bullet is the 190gr Hornady A-Tip Match, and the highest-BC 7mm hunting bullet is the 195gr Berger EOL Elite Hunter. The 7mm caliber offers some of the highest BC bullets on the market.

I'll need to clean all the maple syrup off it, maybe properly clean it, whatever.  I can fix those ragged groups you got going on.  :thefinger::hail:

So are you suggesting I shouldn't use maple syrup to lube ? It is a Canadian rifle...

Pretty sure the gun isn't the issue, now the chimp on the trigger is a whole other issue
