I just cleaned out the local Walmart. They have been getting it in every three days or so, I go in grabbing as much as possible, may be the only thing I shoot till something else is available. So far in I've gotten 2500 rds.

Slim pickins everywhere, brother.  I'm a big fan of 22LR, too.  I've got enough to get me by, but always on the lookout.

I'll send you a PM.  <thumbsup>

I think a lot of it is being bought to resell on Gunbroker.  Its going for upwards of $50-60 bucks a brick for the cheap cheap stuff.  I found some at a lgs in Freemont Ne that's just as high.  I got plenty a year ago, but there's no way I'm paying $50 for cheap bulk pack brick of 22's.  Or $19 for 100 mini mags.  Should sell what I got....

Got an email today from SGammo at 9:45 am it was 10 when I looked at my phone. Clicked the link on my not so smart phone and they had 35 units of 5K rounds in stock. By the time I tried to order they were all gone. Hard to believe in 5 mins they are gone but it has happened to me twice now trying to get 22 ammo.

Yeah we are past the point of people "stocking up" there is some serious profiteering going on. I have no problem with guys making a buck...but when it gets insane...

Know why .22LR ammo is disappearing?

Because it was mentioned in passing that .22LR ammo should be attached to any gun ban or ammo restrictions.

Ammo manufacturers usually produce in batches.  The more popular rounds get longer production runs, the less popular ones can get left by the wayside.  Last time around the ammo that was on the shelves the longest, once gone, took the longest to reappear.

And when it did it wasn't pretty.  Factory .25-20 went from $32/50 rounds to $65/50 rounds.  A couple of boxes of .405 Winchester that was on the shelves at Sportsman's since 2005 finally disappeared and has yet to rematerialize.

That's how it was here too last week I was going to buy some but they got some 556/223 in so I figured I better get that instead. They had 6-7 ammo cans and 10-15 of those 375 ct swamp people boxes along with a few brands of the 100 ct boxes. A week later gone!!!

I did pic up 400 rounds yesterday tho
