TheRenegadeMarine
I'm leaning towards a Magpul PRS stock. <thumbsup>

LAR8Autoshucker
The GL shock is here. Its way early, thats a plus, but it's way too tight on my commercial tube.I tryed oiling it but I'm gonna have to take a file to it. I don't have a mil spec tube laying around but as tight as it is on mine it's gotta fit a mil better. It doesnt lock into place positively either. I'll take it out this weekend and let you know how the "anti recoil" spring works. Also it's pretty damn heavy. My first impression is negative. Disappointed so far. Also, this... blue109
you can get a milspec tube for under $20 vs possibly ruining your $ stock with a file.
survivalshop
Measure the inside diameter of the stocks receiver extension opening.
edgecrusher
I would suggest you switch to a mil spec tube anyway, it is thicker at the threads, an area known to fail faster on commercial tubes
LAR8Autoshucker
Where can I buy just a mil spec tube? I don't want or need a kit. Also, I just dropped 139 bucks on a product advertised to fit my platform, I should not need to get another tube, 20 bones or 10. Period. Mako Group has a history of watching blogs, I sure they see this one. Dissatisfied to say the least. The waterproof storage is waterproof and there a slight amount of recoil reduction. The "operator" pad is great, especially when I roll the weapon over to make use of the 45 degree offset red dot, no more collarbone bruises. I just want it fit as advertised. Hope that doesn't make a dick. If so then I'm a dick.
survivalshop
I would measure as said, to see which receiver extension it will fit . If it was advertised that its for a commercial extension , the stock will be too loose on a Mil spec. Mil Spec outside extension tube dia . is 1.15" Commercial outside tube dis. is 1.17"
blue109
I'm sure there's a bunch of places doing free shipping today. probably your best bet since shipping will cost 1/3 the price of the tube. I read a review when you first posted this that described the same problem. that guy emailed mako and they sent him an "updated" stock that fit better. SS..it's advertised to fit either. that automatically made me skeptical from the start, but there's a few stocks that pull it off. this may not be one of them. guruofhotrod
Interesting, Looks like RRA might use proprietary dimensions on their components - they have notices all over their website: http://www.rockriverarms.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=379 You should make the call to find out about compatibility, besides the diameter, it's possible the tube length may be specific to their design Hope you get to try your new stock - looks like a good concept! blue109
the LAR8 uses a bunch of proprietary stuff, but pretty sure it's just a standard extension.
FaRKle!
Damage Industries has a mil-spec 7075 (correct alloy) receiver extension for $20.85. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the dry film lube though (doesn't make a huge difference). Use code "SUMMER30" for 30% off. Shipping is like $5. unforgiven
You could make a hone using a wood dowel and sandpaper and hone the inside of the buttstock till you get the slip you need.Just a thought.
blue109
I don't think it makes the slightest difference. little friction won't slow that bolt down one bit. damage ind is good to go though. have an order showing up tomorrow and have had a few in the past. no problems. LAR8Autoshucker
Hmmmm, thanks for all the suggestions. I'm not sure what route I'll take although making it fit the tube I have sounds like more fun than buying a different extention. But I have heard there are certain upsides to a mil spec. I'll call rra in the morning and see if there tube is special or if the threads are different before I look into buying a spec. Thanks again for all of your insight. 98Z5V
^^^ The threads definitely won't be different. That's an industry-wide standard. The length is the same as standard stuff out there. Otherwise, you'd never, ever be able to use an A1 or A2 stock.
shibiwan
I've used a commercial stock on a MIL tube. I used some black vinyl insulating tape to snug it, and it actually worked pretty well.... then I sold the rifle. :D
blue109
note to self...inspect rifle thoroughly before buying from shibi.....:P

LAR8Autoshucker
So it took a few hours with 80 grit emery cloth, but I got the GL shock to fit alot better. Before I had to put my foot on my grip pod and give a mighty yank to extend it, now the weight of the rifle itself is sufficient to get the stock moving. I'll work on it a little more this week to get it perfect. Now that it's functional I really like it, but I will never again purchase a stock advertised to fit both commercial and mil spec. survivalshop
With any collapsable stock, a nice tight fit is much to the rifles & your advantage . ( as long as its movable , that is ) <thumbsup>
unforgiven
Rodgers super stock http://www.holsterops.com/rogers-super-stoc, which I have is like that.I have it on a mil spec tube.It comes with a plastic tab for commercial tubes also. And it has an adjustable friction cam to make it very solid.Came with a thin buttpad now they have thick limbsaver to replace the thin one. LAR8Autoshucker
The super stock looks sweet. I will keep that in mind when I start my next project, a sig 716 patrol but thats probably not gonna happen till the end of the year.
