  1. Magpul anything .
  2. Sorry to drop this on you , but those Match Grade Magazines won't help your shooting <laughs> This is one reason I don't load or fire soft points in Magazine fed rifles.
  3. Trimmed , reamed & de-burred about 100 308's ,all were Annealed also.
  4. Ok , pokey , just how did you see the scratches on the bullet or case ? You can't see any of that when its chambered & once the primer is set off & the round fired , the bullet is gone , unless your catching it in some way, after the bullet has exited the barrel & what ever you are using to catch the bullet hasn't caused any bullet change . That would be the only way you could inspect the bullet after it has been fired . Or, you feeding a round in the chamber & then extracting this fully loaded round & seeing , said damage . I can tell you what made those marks , if this is the way you are seeing them & that's the locking lugs on the barrel extension. The extractor , with ejector pressure , will pull the complete cartridge toward the ejection port , which scrapes the cartridge across the locking lugs. Normally when the feed lips of a Magazine are not correctly lined , you will have FTF issues. Unless I'm missing something or not understanding what you mean . <dontknow>
  5. Now if we drop that rule on everything , we won't be alerted to many new products . Maybe it needs, as said ,asking if anyone has tried this or that , not," look at this new" , but what the heck Tom , take one for the team . <laughs> Or two !
  6. That's different . Is there a hole in that forged hand guard mount , to slide the ejection port door hinge pin in ?
  7. Your saying 2400 fps from that 12.5 , what weight projectile ? Rifling twist ?
  8. The front pivot pin may just be tight for a verity of reasons , none that I would worry about & it may loosen up with time . As long as you can remove it & there is no binding of other components in the upper . Check the" Optics/mounts" section for scope/mount reviews , there is good reviews on Vortex . I have one of there red dot sights on one of my 5.56 carbines & love it .
  9. Good to hear . Makes one wonder if that pin hole is with in spec's or someone used loc tite on it .
  10. Looking up the proper information & relaying to those who need it, is not Cheating . Its a public service around here , You should pat yourself on the back or give yourself one of your Patented, pants down hugs . <thumbsup>
  11. I removed mine for Head Spacing with out a problem . Did you try both ends of the pin ? It is a small pin & small punch to remove it , so it would be easy to bend a tool . Its also easy to cover the opposite hole to keep the pin from moving , even with a good pin block .
  12. Just start off with the receiver extension you want (rifle or Carbine ) & use the proper 308 spring & Buffer to start with & there should not be a problem .DPMS or AR 10 I have std factory DPMS buffer & springs in my 308 AR's & have no problems . I also have the Superior Springs ( Tubb's ) 308 spring I am still testing & I can tell you , in my Carbine it makes a difference in recoil & where the brass lands , one nice pile next to the bench . I removed it when I rebuilt the Carbine with new DPMS complete lower & TM upper( another story ) & am using the original Buffer spring & it works fine , the brass is not as concentrated as with the Tubb's spring . I'm going to test the Tubb's spring in my 20", rifle stocked 308 AR & it has had DPMS std factory components in her from the very beginning of the its build & no problems. Both my barrels ( 16" & 20 " ) have rifle length gas systems . As said , you can always change components out later to tweak or tune the action out later .
  13. Well , all that's left is a range report . Be safe.
  14. Surprised Tom didn't just post this Then there is the Superior Springs ( Tubb's ) 308 flat wire ,buffer spring .
  15. Nice scope & rifle , of course.
  16. Different bullet configurations will most likely shoot differently , even if they are the same weight . The Barnes bullets being a solid alloy will shoot differently compared to a lead core bullets of the same weight . Of course reloading can change all that , you just have to find the right powder, primer & COL combo to do it .
  17. Need more of that & you beat me to the Beaver reference <laughs>
  18. A large heavy safe on sight & security camera's .
  19. Just because it has flow , doesn't necessarily mean it has enough to cycle the action . If you want , you can send it to me to check out , seems your planing to scrap it any way & i can see if I can get it to work . Whats the block size .750" ?
  20. <lmao>
  21. While I wouldn't use a level on a CQB rifle , they make a difference in grouping & shot placement . Short range , not so much , but even @ 100 yards , you can tell a difference .
  22. Of course that would depend on the powder , but pretty much correct & on the mark . I have tested loads side by side with my 16" & 20" HB's & while most data say there will be a 125 -150 fps difference with the shorter bbl. , with load development testing I have gotten down to 68 fps. loss with the shorter bbl . , which is not much of a loss , unless you are at the most extreme range of the 308 cartridge . I believe the 16" bbl. 308 is optimum for all around use , longer barrels have there use also , but more of a refined use . If its a weight issue , go light weight 16 "
  23. And we can thank Al Gore for his scientific knowledge on such things . :hail:
