You have been waiting for over a year for a barrel , which they say was a misunderstanding with a loss of one of there employee's ( probably went on one of there built rifles ), nuts, I would call them weekly !
-
You sound vaguely familiar , have you been on this sight before ? <lmao> They may be nice BCG , but not what is advertised or what I wanted & if they don't return my email by Tuesday , I'm calling & asking WTF, because I don't use AR 15 BCG's in my builds .
-
Unless you re-assemble them to only hold 10rds, are they not still baned or illegal ?
-
Thunder BCG & M16 BCG. I use the M16 or full auto BCG because of weight , its of course got significantly more weight & that helps feeding & timing of how the bolt unlocks & locks . Cost , not any or if there is, its not much.

I'm loading target loads for my 24",S/S HB , 1-10 twist, 5.56 chambered AR & below are how I sorted them . I do the same with all my rifle ammo. 5.56 brass LC -91.8- 92.8 Gr. , 50 ct. so far LC- 91.0 -91.7 gr. , 20 ct. so far .223 brass PMC--93.8 Speer - 93.8 -94.0 RP - 90.3 - 91.6 FC - 92.0 - 93.2 Norinco - 98.0 The different weight groups will be loaded differently , maybe not much ,but the Chrono will tell me where I need to go with each case wt.. I will use the .223 cases for plinking fodder & my wife , oh don't tell her I keep the good stuff for me .

I like your photo's better than mine , good job.

Army Now Says No Ban on Rifle Magazines
survivalshop replied to mrraley's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
It was all a mistake , ya that's it ! -
For serious target ,hunting loads , I weigh (digital scale ) all my brass (by brand ) & I can get quite picky , but the results show it.
-
Mine are loaded to around 2.795-6 " , seems to work best for me . If your primers are falling out or too easy to install ( WW is one of the primers I use ) the brass could be fatigued from over pressure & is done . This could also be why some of your groups are spreading out . Your Chrono results don't look bad , your SD & ES will go hand in hand when you get it down low . Looks like they are good also . I always try for single digits ,but too many variables to get it there & your 11-15 is good enough for sure. Just because the load is fast ,doesn't make it accurate. Your 2650 fps is what I am loaded for or close to it ,but if you are fatiguing the brass , you won't get many loadings out of them . All Powders exhibit different characteristics in the pressure area , one may be fine at a certain velocity , but another may exhibit signs of over pressure . I use WC 846 ball powder , not a pull down , but surplus & I have been using it for twenty years . I just opened my last 8 # keg. & I use 40 grs. of it (depending on case manufacturer ) for my loads & that came from a lot of testing because there is no load data on this powder & it will very from lot to lot . I would check to make sure nothing is loose on your scope/mount or any thing else , like the barrel nut . You have good potential groups & some that are spread out . a good indication some thing could be loose .
-
You really need to read up on this in the build threads , they cover all of this . Free float is just that , hand guard has no contact with the barrel .Better accuracy out of the rifle , but more $$$ STD. is just like a mil spec M16A2 or M4 types Lengths , are lengths !
-
If your riser is loosening & it has nut or bolt type fasteners , use blue loc tight on them . If you have Quick release type , it may need some type of adjustment .

Well I got the BCG in the mail yesterday , prompt shipping ,but it was not an M16 BCG , its an enhanced AR 15 BCG, not what they advertise or what I wanted. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

300 AAC Blackout Low Visibility Carbine - PDF Download
survivalshop replied to Jgun's topic in 300 AAC Blackout
Ya, now I remember that SBR. -
First I have never had a problem with any primers , till these Remington's & I also use CCI & WW with no problems . My brass is sized & deprimed & then tumbled in stainless steel tumbling media method & the brass comes out like new , inside & out , including the primer pocket. I hand prime all my reloads , with a lee hand primer , I like to feel them seat. It just seems strange to me that the primers worked in the 38+P ammo with out a hitch ,but the 9MM had a few problems . The Rem. primers I have left will only be used in 38 special ammo & I will buy no more . At least SM. pistol , I have good results with the SM rifle match primers in for the AR's. Ya know come to think of it , I bought these during the great ammo, reloading component drought after the last election . Hay , its BO's fault . <thumbsup>

fr3db3ar What is your rifling twist rate ? If you want a longer barrels performance , as far as velocity , a heavy bullet is not going to do it . The heaver bullet will be slower in all barrels , if loaded to proper safe conditions . If you have a 1-10 twist the 175 gr. may not be the best choice .Not saying it won't shoot good at long range ,but some find the lighter 168 gr. bullet shoot better in a 1-10 & even 155gr. seem to work very well . Which will bring velocity up quite a bit . NoFail The loads for a 24" barrel will work & probably get good accuracy from them ,but the are for a 24" bbl., which has more barrel to burn the powder & wring the most out of it . I have a 16" HB AR 308 & I have some chro data if you want it . I use mil spec powder so my loadings will not be of use to you , but there are great powders out there now for AR's . The short stiff 16" bbl. will hold its own against any longer barrel out to 500 yrds. , after that the longer barrel will out group it & maybe terminal performance would be better ,but I wouldn't want to be at the receiving end of a 16" 308 @ 800yrds.

Just remember you get what you pay for . Building or buying a 308 upper assembly & get it the way you want it , will cost . You can get an as built with some of what you want & change it later , when the $$ is available & that works for most . I build them over time to keep the cost spread out & make them more affordable , but I also get the best components available so I know the rifle will perform . You have to remember that right now the system is over loaded with panic buyers ,because of the pending election . Same thing happened , but after the election the last time . Parts are hard to come by in all the AR platforms . You could build one before you get the DPMS unit . I thought I was a 308 guy , but maybe I'm lost . :)

DPMS308 FEEDING PROBLEMS
survivalshop replied to charlie52usaf's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
DPMS rifles are notorious for having tight or rough chambers, as you have read here . A tight chamber may be OK for a bolt action , a semi auto will not like it very much , until its had a high enough round count to smooth things out . If its rough enough or too tight , it may never break in properly & cause stoppages , endlessly. These chambers need to be inspected & head space checked , by some one who knows & can repair if necessary , if its beyond your expertise. Flitz metal polish is lightly used to take roughness from the chamber( bore mop & battery operated drill ) & head space check will tell whats going on with the chamber dimensions. Most of these rifles take several hundred rounds to assure a proper break in . If you want a rifle that has "0" failures out of the box , you need to buy the high dollar ones or have one built to your spec's. DPMS rifles are in the most part very good rifles , in both accuracy & dependability . They are by far the most prevalent AR 308's out there & are mass produced, so the attention to detail in some cases , is not there . -
Good point on the Armilite , but they should just replace the rifle & I would say so in the packing slip .
-
I ordered one yesterday & we will see how they do , both in getting it to me & how it works . I seem to do a lot of first time testing of products . Nothing has bit me yet. <dontknow> Have you guys looked lately for a BCG , few & far between . I have looked at there BCG's before & since they are M16 carrirers , its all I use on AR 15' builds , I think the heavy weight of BCG tames the gas system down. Now I need a barrel , I have found some of those that fit my build.
-
Or made the rifle in such a way as to let it work with mil spec mags ( & there plastic mags ) & not Pmags. I know this can be done ,because I have a CMMG lower that will not work with the Pmag , but any manufacturer's steel mags work fine. CMMG did make the receiver before the 308 Pmag was made, so can't really blame them .
-
Any one use one of there Thunder BCG's ?
-
That's the same thing I read . Still , it is no excuse to ban a mag (Magpul ) that won't work in 4500 rifles , out of all the M4's in /M16's in service . Unless this is going to be the new service rifle for all our armed forces , its just not adding up , there's more to this decision , probably never know the real reason (s).
-
I like steel also , but I'm not sure it matters . I'm not a fan of adjust-ables , they have there uses though.
-
I agree , there is some thing not right about that BC . It is probably why its hanging up & if its hanging up just pulling it back , its doing it under firing conditions . Poor metallurgy ? I would ask for a return postage label & send it right back .
