Now I HAVE shot a 1928 A1 Thompson! I was at an armorers class put on by the DOE out on a range at Kirtland AFB. They had two of those guns in the vault. We had a range day and pulled several guns out of the vault to shoot. While the youngsters where all falling over each other to shoot the MP5's me, another older guy taking the class and one of the instructors were busy burning up 1000 rnds of 45 ACP in that Thompson. It was a blast!

I think most of the recommendations for running it dripping wet are for break in periods. I agree with Wash, if the gun has been shot enough to be broke in and still won't run without oil dripping off I would be trying to find out what the problem was.
