  1. I questioned the durability statement, not reliability, the testing that led to the adoption of the 1911 did track reliability though; http://www.sightm1911.com/lib/history/M1911_Trials.htm Torture tests are fun to read about but have little to do with the real world application of the tool. If you are shooting a 1000 rounds rapid fire with a pistol in a real world situation then you have more to worry about than clearing a few malfunctions. Love my 1911, can't stand the feel of a Glock, but if my life depended on a pistol I would grab my 226.
  2. Glock as most durable???? I'm not sure they have been around long enough to say that. When one takes the same abuse and still shoots like the 45 year old 1911 I was issued in the service I'll consider it, keep in mind that 1911 was possibly used in three wars and a pile of training in between. Very few Glocks have seen anything close to the abuse those old 1911's weathered.

  4. Just slide a chunk of tin behind it and grind away
  5. Sounds like a job for Dremel Man!
  6. I would try a Lancer, they are top notch kit, expensive but a nice design.
  7. It's good to check your bone color at least once a year
  8. Welcome from Iowa, via Pensacola! Bolt should stay open after the last round. Could be just a break in issue, how many rounds has it fired?
  9. No issues, shoots whatever I put in it. Accuracy could be better, it does best if I don't heat it up, strings a bit when I shoot at a rapid pace but I can still get a pretty regular 1 MOA 5 round group with FGMM 175 grain.
  10. X-Caliber showed us with their posts here that they don't have a great deal of knowledge about DI guns. They are a custom maker with good quality barrels but you would need to specify exactly what you want down to the gas port size, they seem to be focused on bolt guns. I did buy early when they were just getting started and an unusual configuration so they may have the kinks worked out now but they have also raised the price a good bit since I purchased.

  12. CTD is lower than dirt! I would gladly pay more before I let them see one cent of my money
  13. MBT-2S is back to $124.99 now, wish I'd have ordered 2 now............
  14. Like several others I have a rifle length gas system on a 16 inch barrel . Took some fine tuning on the port size but it runs every thing I feed it now.

  16. That has always been the tell for me. There are lots of statistics and opinions out there on this subject but the fact that only one die set is made for reloading has always assured me they are the same cartridge for my purposes. When reloading you always start low on the powder charge to the interior difference doesn't really matter then as long as you don't mix up the two types of brass. Chambers can vary between rifles with the same designation so used rifles should always be checked anyway.
  17. For sure at least one pressure cooker involved; http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2016/09/17/explosion-new-york-chelsea-neighborhood/90605526/
  18. Why are there no calls to register pressure cookers and limit their capacity???? At a minimum there should be a background check and waiting period when purchasing one.
  19. Magazines all stay loaded, weapons locked in the safe are bolt closed and hammer down. Everything out is cocked, locked, and ready to rock.
  20. I have found the ambi safety a waste, I never use it and the one on my 716 interferes with my grip. Upgrade the trigger from the start, don't waste the time and money on a mil spec trigger. I have had great results with ADM scope mounts, never shot loose and return to zero every time. Love my Atlas bipod, tough and light weight. The price sucks but buy once cry once. For the money Vortex and the Bushnell tactical series scopes are a lot of bang for the buck. and that's my two cents....
  21. Not that there is anything wrong with the Taccon trigger but you can do the same thing with the Geissele 3 gun trigger as well as any trigger with a crisp short reset. The Rough Justice trigger is super fast.
  22. One of many reasons I only give help to individuals I know can use it. Pay it forward is so much more satisfying to me and beneficial to all. Professional charities is an oxymoron.
  23. SS for the win! Got this email from the manager of the HD archives and heritage service; Hi Jim. You’re right, they are two different bikes. The one in the snow is about 1916 model year, best guess is a model 16-J. The other is about 1914, possibly a model 10-F. In that photo, he’s wearing an authentic H-D sweater, one of the earliest apparel items H-D ever sold. 24. This American started that boycott 20 plus years ago when they began pushing "cultural acceptance " beyond my tolerance level. In the neck for all of them!
