I'm a Grandfather with the one and only wife for 25 years now. RECOIL is a great rag, very knowledgeable staff and some straight up reviews, no bias for advertisers. I've subscribed for a couple years and read it since it came out. I have not seen much more than a girl of the month in the back of the mag, the centerfold is always a target. There is always a section dealing with fitness, knives, vehicles, and all sorts of gear. And yes usually an article or comment on one booze or another. The website is good as well but they always cut the article short there so you have to buy the rag to get all the info. Cost wise you have to put it in perspective, less than a ten round group of FGMM, I spend more putting holes in the centerfold than I pay for the rag. I guess if you're all about retro then it may be a little too up to date for your taste.................and yes gatorboy, you came off sounding like a Dick in this thread, don't be so damn sensitive.

Difficult manual extraction of military cartridges
jtallen83 replied to Mongoose333777's topic in Building a .308AR
Never measured it myself but if I understand correctly NATO and LC spec brass is a bit thicker, maybe this has an effect on how much it shrinks back when the pressure comes off compared to 308 factory brass. Maybe a good polishing would help the issue? -

Nice collection, always liked the triangular handguards and shorter buttstock but that might just be nostalgia. Never did find a use for the carry handle though, if you carry that way you are flagging your buddies all the time.

Wonder if they have to jump with one of their own randomly selected packed chutes like the Riggers did when I was in? That would make them sweat a bit.

A simple yes or no and move on with the build would not be breaking any rules here. It's a brotherhood and your post above could be taken as a challenge or lack of respect for those that made this place what it is........if you can still see the edit button hit it, ask a mod to delete it, just don't let something as simple as a yes or no answer derail your membership here, let this just be a bumpy start to a lasting fellowship. -

Sorry for your loss, one of the tougher choices to make even when you know you have to.

I have not tried any all steel but I would have to recommend the Lancer mags, largest COAL I've seen and very well built with steel feed lips. -
Google search gave me results from 40-55 inch/lbs. Armalite was on the high end with 55 inch/Lbs.

We shot till the powder residue was burning my eyes....for days. Reagan's Army seemed to have plenty of ammo for training, most of the 45 ACP ammo was WWII vintage stuff. Sounds like you guys should've went for the blue cord.

Like I said , that was as good as it got, the rest were more like the one below at 6 1/2 inches. I'm a M.O.M. shooter as far as the goal goes, hence the silhouette targets. I read about an eyepiece that goes on the scope and lets your eyes focus on the reticle. They use your bifocal prescription but it is almost $300 bucks and they didn't discuss what that would do for the focus on the target. Many recommend eyeglasses with a bifocal grind in the upper corner of your shooting eye but then recommend a both eyes open in order to have focus on then target, that leads me to believe the target would be out of focus with the scope eyepiece. 300 yards with XM118LR, I was holding too high for this smaller silhouette, nice group, if I throw out the last two shots......;

Stretched it out to 300 yards today, this 2 3/4 inch 3 round group was my first of the day just to see if I was on paper using the a 12 inch drop from my 2 inch high 200 yd zero with XM118LR. It ended up the best with my 5 round groups running between 6 and 7 inches. Seems like I always throw the last round, my eyes start to blur out on me trying to get them to focus. Can't get myself to wait long between shots, gotta get them downrange like I mean it. The tiny little dot on the BTR reticle pretty much covers the head on the target at 300 yards. I'm thinking the 6.5 magnification is holding the rifle back at this point. Looking like the X-caliber barrel is working fine, I'm not seeing the stringing I was blaming on heat earlier. Now I have to make a choice, new scope or a can......which do I want first, odds are the scope will win out but I haven't been home since the LGS started stocking cans...............

If you mean DPMS upper to Armalite lower then no, will not work. Watch gunbroker for used ArmaLite uppers that fit your bill, the B model versions are going reasonable.

Dad sent me this today; Senator Hillary Clinton was invited to address a major gathering of The American Indian nation in upper New York State ...She spoke for almost an hour on her future plans for increasing every Native American's present standard of living, should she one day become the first female President. She referred to her career as a New York Senator, how she had signed "YES," for every Indian issue that came to her desk for approval. Although the Senator was vague on the details of jbher plan, she seemed most enthusiastic about her future ideas for helping her "red sisters and brothers". At the conclusion of her speech, the Tribes presented the Senator with a plaque inscribed with her new Indian name - Walking Eagle. The proud Senator then departed in her motorcade, waving to the crowds. A news reporter later inquired of the group of chiefs of how they had come to select the new name given to the Senator. They explained that Walking Eagle is the name given to a bird so full of $hit it can no longer fly

Got the replacement XM118LR today, super fast shipping and they all look great. I tend to think the first batch was a result of something wrong on the assembly line, up close the dents and gouges were varied enough in the angles that they couldn't all have been from lugs.

I've always wanted to know if the audience really thinks she talks with a southern accent in private, is it an inside joke, or do they just not care how silly she makes them all look????

That brings back memories of shooting the bull in the nuts with a BB gun from outside the fence while my brother was inside the fence.....maybe I need on of those "I'm an A$$hole" signs for myself?????

but it also means they prey on people's prejudices, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Fidel Castro, just a few of the more popular demagogues that followed through with what they promised. "Be careful what you wish for" comes to mind. The desires of the majority are what the constitution was set up to protect the minority from.

Just had a good resolution to an issue with poor quality ammo I bought from MassAmmo. I had ordered a 200 round can of Federal 168 OTM M1A ammo from them. I received the ammo in three days but was disappointed when I opened the can, lots of dents and lacquer runs; spent 10 minutes trying to flip the pic #*^%#* Sent them these pics and asked why they didn't list it a seconds, they replied with an apology, can was sealed and they had no idea of the condition, it should have been top run. They offered to either give me a full refund and a shipping label to send it back or send it back in exchange for an equal number of XM118LR. I took the XM118 since I normally shoot the same 175 SMK in other match ammo like FGMM 7.62 and it is priced 10 cent a round higher than the original order. This outfit has sporadic inventory that sells out fast but I've always gotten top shelf stuff for a good price, got a 1,000 MK319's for 60 cent a round last year. Now I know they will stand behind what they sell. http://massammo.com/
