Got that classic look big time. Does she shoot as good as she looks?

I had that sucker on and off at least a dozen times checking if there was a starting point for the threads that would make a difference. I ended up doing something similar, had it set at 55 but kept nudging some to line it up then kept adjusting the wrench till I found the click at 62 so I'd know where I was for future reference. I'm running into a similar issue with the brake using the crush washer, I need a full 90 degrees to line it up and the crush washer doesn't seem to want to go that far. I think I'll get a pack of shims for that then tap the hole so I can lock it in place with a set screw, it's just gonna have to be a little cock-eyed for the test fire.

Skeletonize the grip and you could save another oz or so. Any Lightening cuts on the BCG? No stats for the tiny group? Looks like more than 2 rounds anyway............

Had to go to the 62 FtLb setting to get the rail to line up, made me a bit nervous. The gas tube lined up but seems to be dragging a bit, high in the gas key and plenty deep. Wish me luck, I'll be going to the range tomorrow afternoon to test fire.

That would be assuming our vote still gets honestly counted.............

Very cool! I have to try that some day.

Looks very much like the old headlights I shot with a .22 for target practice as a kid. You should call it in, the smallest bit of information could make the difference in getting this random shooting stuff stopped.

Is this what you are referencing; http://www.infowars.com/martial-law-tucson-city-council-hands-authority-over-to-military/ Are you under martial law there now? Any sources on that? I'll gladly serve the cause of Liberty............

Maybe Mr Raley; "In the AR, the operating rod is the gas itself. Instead of a push rod in contact with the top of the bolt carrier, gas is diverted from the barrel, down a tube, and directed into the bolt carrier (gas cylinder) directly. When the gas fills the chamber behind the piston it pushes the piston forward (easing unlocking) and the bolt carrier backwards. The piston attached to the bolt, stops moving forward when it hits the barrel, focusing the rest of the gas rearward on and in the carrier. As the carrier moves rearward, it rotates the bolt by contacting the cam-pin in the groove freeing it to continue rearward travel until stopped by the recoil spring and buffer in the receiver extension tube." http://forum.308ar.com/topic/11818-debate/

Swear I did some drinking to that back in the day??? Hard to say for sure as I was drunk;)

Got most parts installed or at least test fit. Love the fit of the SL stock, solid lock up and no wiggle. The bolt locks back on an empty p-mag and the dummy rounds hand cycle without a hitch. Had to let the bolt fly a couple times the first try but after that in went into battery just fine. The only thing that stopped me from finishing today was my cheap ass vise:( At 30FtLbs on the torque wrench the receiver wanted to move in the jaws so rather than risk dinging it up I'll get it set in Dad's patent 1920's large bench vise tomorrow. The 30 lbs got me here so I hope it doesn't cause a problem getting the handguard lined up within the specs.

Work Benches ...where we build our awesome rifles
jtallen83 replied to washguy's topic in Club House
Who knows how to make this thread a poll? Maybe a couple, most organized, least organised, maybe even highest tool pile(Wash is on that one!) Thank you Wash, I feel a little better now;) -
You buy and I'll supply the interest!

Work Benches ...where we build our awesome rifles
jtallen83 replied to washguy's topic in Club House
It's a little embarrassing but here goes my entry for the most disorganized work space, just like it sat when the thread was started; I generally keep all the parts for specific things together in a tote that sits on some shelves, otherwise I'd loose all the parts before I could do anything with them. Had the Wilson BCG out to get pictures for SS's thread.I do have a little more organised area for reloading....a little. NEXT! -
Still no battery for my calipers but here are a few pictures, mine looks pretty close to flush in the back and a little shallow on the hook end.

Thanks, hope I can make them all play well together!

Work Benches ...where we build our awesome rifles

I see this contest going a little different direction now..... I do most of my work on a hand me down kitchen table in the basement, but that is down to a few square feet of clear space, like my weapons, I clean my work space once a year if it needs it or not! -

Maybe there is more than one Freedom Munitions??????; Shipping Address: Freedom Munitions, LLC 153 Southport Ave. Lewiston, Idaho 83501 This is where I've shipped brass and tracked my packages from for about 3 years now? http://www.freedommunitions.com/dealoftheday.asp

I shot my best 200 yard group ever with Freedom 175 gr match remanufactured bought spring 2014. The last two batches I've got this spring have not been so good. Still cycle fine but the accuracy has not been there. The 9mm I got this spring had some real underpowered rounds in it, before that I had never had an issue. For now the only ammo I'll get from them is what I can trade range brass for.

Small problem with free float handguard with rail gas block.
jtallen83 replied to CASEYPM's topic in Building a .308AR
I get similar results on my P716 pistol with ZQI ammo but not in my AR-10 rifle. I'm thinking it is an overgassed issue with the bolt trying to open a bit too soon.....but that is just a guess. I'll be following along to see what the pros say.......... -
I don't get it, what are the tactical advantages? Who is the guy in the video and what are his credentials? It's a great gun because his girlfriend can shoot it well?????? LWRC makes a fine weapon but much more tacticool advantage than tactical advantage. I'll stick with my Armalite M15TBN build and spend the extra cash on ammo......guess I already spent and shot it, with no failures. If it does fail I can swap parts with any of the DI AR's around me that number like blades of grass....2 cents spent, not even going to seal land.............
-
I've got tracking numbers on the rest of my parts so if everything goes right I should be testing my wilson BCG on the 14th. I don't have a spare DPMS format BCG to test with it so I hope I don't have any issues. Will my spare Armalite ejector, extractor, and springs swap with the wilson in case I need to troubleshoot?

FUK! I want one of those so bad it hurts....almost enough to move...........
