  1. Damn! That is a smokin deal, you pay that for the bullets alone most times. I may have to give them a go, I like the idea of a mag full of180's.
  2. Midwest Industries have several choices and list specifically for the AR-10; https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=190 You can get a gas block from them as well; https://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=253
  3. I'll give that a go. I got the 50 box for $10, figured I could burn up the box for that but was so disappointed I shelved them. If I. can find a node with R15 I'll get more at the gouge price. Good info has been hard to come by for that bullet.
  4. Nah, it's barely off track yet;)
  5. I didn't see anything excluding lead; California Muzzleloader Regulations Legal Description: “Wheel-lock, matchlock, flintlock or percussion type, including “in-line” muzzleloading rifles using black powder or equivalent black powder substitute, including pellets, with a single projectile loaded from the muzzle and at least .40 caliber in designation. Under the provisions of a muzzleloading rifle only tag, hunters may only possess muzzleloading rifles as described in subsection, equipped with open or “peep” type sights only. Under the provisions of a muzzleloading rifle/archery tag, hunters may only possess muzzleloading rifles with sights as described above. Upon application to the department, the department may issue a Disabled Muzzleloader Scope Permit, free of any charge or fee, to any person with a physical disability, as defined which prevents him/her from being able to focus on the target utilizing muzzleloading rifles equipped with open or “peep” sights. General Muzzleloader Seasons (Deer) November 10th- December 12th (Elk) September 8th- November 4th
  6. Why not swap the gas block for a low profile and widen your selection of handguards considerably? I can't say I've ever seen a 15 inch + FF handguard for the AR-10 that would let you keep the stock railed gas block, might be one out there though........
  7. I've loaded some 168 gr. Barnes TSX; http://www.barnesbullets.com/bullets/tsx/ Fit the mag just fine but I haven't found a good accurate load yet, I've only done a couple ladders with IMR 4064 and H4895 but they were all over the place. Odds are I'll have used up the box of 50 before I get anything I like. Might be some factory loads that work fine though. They have a good rep as stoppers.

    Debate

Born December 30th 2014, I bought it new in June and have less than 400 rounds down the pipe. There are several changes from what Sig shows in the manual or on the web, like the Phase5 buffer tube, but none of those changes address carrier tilt. I think it is just the nature of the beast, there are treatments for the issue but no cure.....yet.
  9. Please send a note to the NRA to help the Iowa legislature get some new laws passed that will allow me to own a suppressed SBR, right now my P716 is as close as I can get.........damn that 338 looks like fun!

    Debate

Just look at the picture I posted above and then you will have seen it............... It isn't bothering the the buffer tube but it is beating the crap out of the lower receiver just before the tube, a much harder fix. The PWS tube may band-aid this issue as far as not beating up the receiver but it isn't going to stop the carrier tilt.

    Grilling

It costs near that for the butcher and wrap around here! $1.50 a pound with nothing special done on prep or packaging.
  12. Another sign of this "open season" crap, hope they fry these guys even though they couldn't hit schit; http://www.breitbart.com/texas/2015/09/06/las-vegas-cop-shot-in-ambush-style-attack/
  13. That is a great day at the range!

    Grilling

You stole that cow at $2.40 a pound! I can't even get a price like that from my brothers that raise cattle!
  15. That's the SLR "Blem" brake; http://slrrifleworks.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=116&product_id=560 Out of stock now, they raised the price within a few days of listing them cause Tom ordered two! Hope they work good, I've got one for my Matrix build.
  16. Everything is normal on my end? I got to see a Bald Eagle snag a young pheasant this Friday, it just stood there on it 10 foot away while I drove past real slow with the window down, reminded me of your avatar, noble bird for sure!
  17. Might be worth investing in several varieties and seeing if your rifle has a favorite. Barrels from the same maker and on the same model rifle can have different results with the same ammo. No rifles allowed for deer hunting here in Iowa but if you give some more parameters, like range, prey, and bullet weight, I'm betting you'll get some good starting points from the guys that use them.
  18. The battery was dead in my calipers but here are a few more close-up pictures of the extractor that came in my Wilson bolt, there are some marks in the groove where I hooked it on a case to see how grippy it was, it seemed to grab well but then I won't know for sure till I go hot with it;

    Debate

The only plus I have found with my P716 is a cooler bolt and I'm not sure that matters much not being a full auto. I was hoping to see the "cleaner running" aspect but I still see plenty of carbon on the outside of the BCG, some of this may be due to running dirty ZQI ammo. I'm starting to see evidence of carrier tilt; The anodizing is worn off around the buffer retainer with only a few hundred rounds. Several thousand rounds into my AR-10 and there are no wear marks like this.

    Grilling

I ate at Franklins when I was working nearby in Taylor. I would have went there again and again if it weren't for the traffic in Austin!

    FNX45

I'm with ya on the dishes! I used to buy my kitchen supplies at garage sales and auctions and then treat it all as disposable. It has been some years since I even picked up a Glock so maybe I should try one of the new models with the changeable grip. It has always been the feel in my hand that kept me on the metal side of the fence.

    FNX45

Is the FNX dishwasher safe like Glocks? That's the one thing that could sell me on a plastic gun.
  23. My understanding from talking with people still in the "market" is that legalization has led to higher costs here in Iowa and other neighboring states. The high tax rate has caused the market to adjust to the higher costs pricing the illegal product just under the legal. I have cousins that have moved to Colorado to start their own farms and get rich.....they have lost everything invested and then some so it isn't the growers making the higher profits, some entity in the middle is getting rich.....wonder who????????
  24. "kinda" is the operative word there;) I don't think there is a state with legalized pot I would want to live in, I'm a midwest country boy from birth. My libertarian viewpoint makes me think ALL drugs should be legal and plentiful, there would be lots fewer stupid people in short order. The idea that government, Dr's, and big pharma get to decide what drugs are "good" for me and what I should pay for them is just wrong. Like the vast majority of Americans I have enough intelligence to figure it out for myself if the government could just be trusted to do basic, unbiased research.
  25. Amen!.......kinda made me miss the weed...........LIBERTY FIRST!
