  1. Talk about being funny, sad and scary all in one :cookoo: And these people are among us.
  2. Oh well looks like it just wasn't meant to be this year <dontknow>. Got out this morning and my buddy that I hunt with got a call that his boy was sick and he had to take him to the doctor so that cut the day short and I'll be working through the antler less portion of the season so thats it for me this year.
  3. Thats the system I used for the 168 A-max and CFE223 powder, plan on doing the same for the 178's I just picked up a box today but its probably going to be a little while before I can start. Getting ready to start my busy season at work (UPS) will be working 7 days a week for next month. But by Christmas I should have enough overtime saved up that I'll be able to do the upgrades to the rifle that I want and restock on my reloading supplies. <thumbsup> Hows your load development coming on your 178's NoFail?
  4. Looks like a pretty stout rifle in that video. Wounder what the weight on something like thats going to be ?
  5. Well thats cool noFail hope your family has a good time and tell your daughter brake a leg <thumbsup>. As far as being a football fan I guess I'm am but I live in the Kansas city area so will leave it at that. :'(
  6. Good luck survivalshop our rifle season opened today didn't have much luck though. Only going to be able to go on both Sat. this year wish I could schedule a full week to go just not in the cards right now.
  7. Gloom, despair, and agony on me Deep, dark depression, excessive misery If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all Gloom, despair, and agony on me. Thought we were deer hunting but the 30 mph + winds made us think we were in hurricane Sandy. Gloom, despair, and agony on me Deep, dark depression, excessive misery If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all Gloom, despair, and agony on me thought we were deer hunting but the 75* temp. had the bucks at the beach laughing at us hunters with there ice cold drinks being brought to them by some horny does. Gloom, despair, and agony on me Deep, dark depression, excessive misery If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all Gloom, despair, and agony on me Thought we were deer hunting and all I got was a thorn stuck in me :o Oh well there's always next weekend :cookoo: ;D
  8. And as far as cost savings you'll eat that up by shooting more.
  9. Another way to trim a few ounces is to trim back your P-Mag so it only holds a reduced amount of ammo. In Missouri were only aloud to have 10 round mags for hunting. I took a P-Mag removed the spring and follower and stuck it in my chop saw, reattached the floor plate with the spring and follower, and now have a 6 round mag for hunting. It almost fits flush with the magwell which helps to keep it from hanging on brush and limbs as walk through the woods.
  10. Going to take my son out deer hunting this Sat. I gave him a choice on what gun he would like to carry and I have to say I was impressed with his decision. He chose the Winchester 94 over the DPMS Oracle I figured with all the video games out there he would of chose the .308AR. Maybe the thought of carrying the 7lbs .30-30 over the 11-12lbs .308 was more appealing. So I'll be using the Oracle this weekend with a cut down P-mag (6 rounds) almost fits flush with the magwell. I'll let you guy's know how we do with some pics if we get anything.
  11. Well let me think here I have : 5 3lbs coffee cans full of .45 brass 2 3lbs coffee cans full of 9mm brass 750 pieces of .308 brass 500 pieces of 30-30 brass (hoping to start reloading for this soon)
  12. I've read on various reloading forums that ammonia can make brass brittle. Might want to check on this I can't tell you for sure that this will happen but read it enough that I avoid products that contain ammonia when cleaning and polishing brass take care Mike.
  13. Thanks guy's, It was defiantly a long road on this load but I think a lot of it was my overgasing giving the indication of high pressure so I'd thought I'd take a couple of pics to show the difference in the the brass. As you can see in the first pic everything to indicate an over pressure load. ejector swipe cratered and flattened primer bent rim along with throwing my brass at the 1:00-1:30 position. Now here's the after,I put the adjustable gas block on and tuned it. All signs of high pressure are gone and the load for the 2 cases was the same. I think the next load I'm going to develop will be the 178gr A-Max but I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my labor for now and possibly due some upgrades to the rifle.
  14. I'm not going to say its a waste, I've heard quite a few people are going to write in there vote. Thats fine as long as everybody would just get out and vote so our voices can be heard. Its the pukes that sit at home and don't do anything but complain that put bur under me :leghump:
  15. Alrighty guy's this is going to be my last post for this load workup I did some retesting and found that with PPU brass 47.9gr of CFE 223 and the 168gr A-Max with a C.O.L. of 2.790" is the best combination for my rifle. After I put the adjustable gas block on all presure signs went away from over gassing and early extraction and my brass and primers look great. Its been fun doing this load workup with you guy's and all the help you have provided through this THANKS <thumbsup>. DPMS Oracle with SSA trigger PPU Brass CCI Large Rifle Primers CFE 223 47.9gr Horndy 168gr A-Max C.O.L. 2.790" Velocity 2650fps SD 9fps And here's today's target pic. <thumbsup>
  16. Very cool <thumbsup>
  17. +1 98 I think everybody here is for Romney but for those of you on the fence still. One thing to keep in mind is they expect 2 supreme court justices to retire during the next 4 years. I really don't like either candidates but I have to go with the one more apt to leave our rights alone and choose judges that won't say its only for a states well regulated militia to keep and bear arms like this guy. http://news.yahoo.com/retired-justice-prods-congress-candidates-gun-control-020452521.html;_ylt=AjV_u1teGCeQcoU3vVxISTer9HQA;_ylu=X3oDMTQ1ZWdnNWl1BG1pdANQaG90byBTaW5nbGUgTWV0YWRhdGEgUmVsYXRlZARwa2cDNjA2NWQ3MGUtNjA0Yi0zODAyLTllZWMtZGZkNDgxNTc1YTA2BHBvcwMxBHNlYwNpbWdpbmZvBHZlcgNlMWY1N2ViMS0xNzQ5LTExZTItYmZkZi05NDYyZDQ2MjA1OTc-;_ylg=X3oDMTJtY3FlYmc3BGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDNWZkOGUxODYtYmU2ZS0zYTFiLTg3MzItNjRiODA3YjFjYWY2BHBzdGNhdAMxcGhvdG8EcHQDMXBob3Rv;_ylv=3
  18. She spent more time bailing Obumer out of trouble than moderating where did they find her? It was pretty clear that she favers Obumer. And look out Obama is coming after are AR's and cheap handguns.
  19. I'm hoping since we left Iraq, that will ease the pressure on supplies a little bit. I'm currently stocked on everything but some Unique powder for my .45 and 9mm reloading hoping to pick some up at the next gun show before the election. Could use anther 1000 primers for each caliber that I reload but I have enough for now.
  20. That is a very nice price even better than Powder Valley. My understanding is that for accuracy its hard to beat Varget from what I've read about it you'll be a happy shooter <thumbsup>. With my 16" barrel I'm trying to keep my velocity loss to a min. by trying these new powders. Before they came out I was going to try Varget and Reloader15. Since I put an PRI adjustable gas block on my rifle the brass has stopped taken damage at the rims and the dents have went away and ejection is at 4:00 o'clock so I'm going to retry my load of 47.9gr of CFE 223 with the 168's seated at 2.790" along with the temps coming down I have a feeling this is going to be my goto load.
  21. Very nice Nofail <thumbsup> I just picked up some more of the 168's A-Max so I can get started on my load again. Feel like I've been neglecting this section since I haven't posted down here for awhile.
  22. I'm wondering if one of these new powders like CFE 223 and Power Pro 2000MR would get him the velocity he wants with the heavy's and case capacity of the .308. I know I was surprised at how fast my 16" barrel was with the 168's and CFE 223. Have you decided on a powder yet planeflyer21?
  23. If my memory is working right its used for boosting the yield. Remember watching something about it on atomic bomb movie, more a documentary than movie back when they did all the testing at Bikini.
  24. Just take some extenz but you may have to see a doctor after 4 hrs. <lmao>
