  1. Mags I am late to this, but I own a standard FNX 45 and like it. I just bought the FNX 45 Tactical extended threaded barrel (guess I will be getting a tax stamp, heh, heh.). Go for it.
  2. Should be able to use the standard Springfield Armory M1A 10 rounder.

    Done. Thanks for posting.
  4. Polio is a tough one. Some got hit with it in my generation, before Salk and Sabin worked their magic. My parents said I got diagnosed at 6 months, and nothing they could do. A year later they told my Mom they were wrong. Rene you gotta be one tough dude.
  5. Have you got diagnosed on the magnesium shortage? Potassium shortage will do that too. If I eat a banana or an orange a day, I avoid them.
  6. Merry Christmas everyone.
  7. Thank you sir! That will help a lot. Appreciate it. I wanted to start light. Especially with the M1A. Since bent operating rods can happen with higher pressure loads. After the Christmas bills are paid I think I will pick that software up. I also reload 44 Magnum, and 223 and 45 acp so that would be a good investment. Merry Christmas!

  8. Welcome from Wisconsin.
  9. Hey Brother, hope your Holiday Season is going well. I have a couple of load work ups I already have, and the brass is in good shape, but over seas military 7.62x51, so I want to be a little careful.

The first is Turkish M-80 brass, sold in this country as ZQ-1 at Wallyworld. The brass weight is 175.3 gr, H2O capacity is 55.6gr. I am doing two loadings: 39.6gr of Reloader 15, Winchester Lg Rifle Primers, a 175gr, Sierra Match King BTHP. The other load is the same except for a 168gr. Sierra Match King BTHP.

The other brass is controversial, although I have not had problems with it. Later Indian Army brass had problems, but the dedicated 1975 machine gun cartridges are ok, and I haven't had any problems shooting the original cartridges. The brass is heavier though.

Brass weight: 190.6 gr., H2O capacity 52.9 gr. Loads are the same; 39.6gr Reloader 15, Winchester primers, both 175 gr SMK BTHP's and 168 gr SMK BTHP's. I have shot them through both my AR10's and my M1A. Occasionally fail to cycle the M1A, but not very often. Might be a tad under powered.Your help is appreciated.

The 168smks like to be pushed hard near max in my experience. You,d be hitting subsonic at around 500 yds with that load you gave me in the larger cases! Not good.

your loads are around 2185fps in a 16" barrel. All the loads I gave you would put you around 2500fps.

I just double cked my alliant book. Calls for 45gr RL 15 for the 168 in the larger, Federal cases. I'm confident in the loads I gave you. Just work up to em n be safe.

  10. Thanks for the T-Shirt brother. And Merry Christmas to you! Once Christmas bills are past I want to consult with you over some better carrying options for my AR10T Carbine and My AR15 Carbine. Till then, take care.

  11. In a locker at room temp.
  12. Keep me posted about those.
  13. Brother, Nothing colder than what you do. Be glad for you when you don't have to do that any more. Till then I will pray for warmer weather for you.
  14. Thanks I will do that. Right now it is -25F in my garage where I keep my reloading gear, so it may be a while. I will send you a load I have now with two different cases. I will PM you in a couple of days. Appreciate it.

Good looking rig Shepp. Think you made the right choice in the scope.
  16. Up here wolves prey on beaver during the winter. You follow wolf tracks along a frozen waterway, and they will invariably stop at every beaver hole in the ice and wait to see if a beaver shows up to take a breath. They know the pattern.
  17. Wrong thread, but my favorite AK pic.
  18. Not cheap but if it avoids one gunsmith bill or damaged firearm, it's worth it. Had a guy on another forum used to run prospective loads on it for me, but he disappeared.
  19. What we do when we get bored up North.
  20. I am going to pick it up after the first of the year.
  21. Yeah my statement is a bit too all encompassing. More like: If it's cold, it;s gonna feel colder in the city, if it's hot it's gonna feel hotter in the city.
  22. Coldest place in the winter is a city. Out here, our buildings and people are used to it. Get in the woods and out of the wind and it is not that bad down to -20F. In the city outside, you can't get away from the wind, and those big buildings just channel it. Coldest place there is.
  23. 3 hours. Between Ashland and Duluth. Welcome Auggie. Always like farm implements, the tractor is nice too.
  24. Amen on that. Any day.
