The heavier buffer slows the BCG group down just a bit. Slower BCG it's not throwing the brass in the same place. This also gives you magazine just a bit more time to raise the next round. As long as the extractor is pulling the brass out of the chamber I wouldn't mess with things.

My 12" PSA shoots well. They do make longer barrels. Alexander arms the home of the Grendel comes to mind.

Put the extension in a vice and get a big pipe wrench and unscrew the barrel. Your getting a new barrel anyway. This should let you see some of what happened.

Soft point ammo doesn't feed well in the rifles for the most part. FMJ or the plastic tipped feed better.

The pin just locates the Barrell so the gas port is in the right place. The extension is screwed on with about 90 ftlbs of torque. The chance on a different extension indexing to the right spot to where the gas port is at 12 o'clock is pretty slim. Just buy another barrel.

Sounds like you got it sorted out. Yes your buffer was too light. The springco orange spring is good to go also. The little brass bits will go away as everything wears in.
