  1. This^^^ When I draw, the safety comes off as the muzzle reaches a horizontal orientation, that's just muscle memory now.
  2. If memory serves, it stems from the era of the Civil War when blacksmiths were your armourers when units were on the move. The Yanks got the bright idea that blacksmiths couldn't help the Rebs too much without the benefit of their anvils. Anvils being what they are, unless you are Tom, they're not really a piece of cake to destroy. Supposedly the Yankee command came up with the idea of blowing anvils up, and gave up on that idea very quickly after discovering that flying anvils posed a greater threat to the Yankees than they were coming back down on than the rebel blacksmiths. Makes a great story, but I have no idea of if it's credible. No matter what, it's awesome to watch something so incredibly heavy disappear into the sky for 6 - 8 seconds.
  3. Absolutely. I'm pretty sure noone is upset, but your opinion did kind of put him in a place that he had to explain himself, to be fair. Anyways, on the topic of Benelli, the M4 was the first of Benelli's offereings that I ever placed on my "bucket list" of guns. It is a very well designed and implemented piece of weaponry.
  4. Well played sir, well played. <thumbsup>
  5. Be nice to me or I'll share pictures of your days as a model for Fruit of the Loom.... LOL
  6. I see what you did there! LOL
  7. If it has strong bolt lugs, yes... but it must not be so clean that there's still a cleaning rod in the bore.
  8. It is a tradition on this forum to give such a product an obscure russian name... Let's hear it!
  9. I'll see you on the flip side sister! What's that? Not that kind of surgery huh? *sigh*
  10. Taught my wife to shoot. She's a good shot and enjoys it a lot for someone who never got exposed to shooting early on.
  11. Welcome from NC! Thankfully, there are an abundance of good AR 308 components out their now, and the list of "avoiders" is pretty brief. You'll be well advised here.
  12. Who me?
  13. Welcome to the forums! Hope you enjoy your stay. Just don't feed the animals.... ;) LOL
  14. Holy Katmandu batman! That is a big 'ol honkin sonofagun!
  15. ROFL That's brilliant! Chalk up another win for capitalism. <laughs> <lmao>
  16. You should borrow a 1911-style from a friend or acquaintance and test those factors yourself. I like the way you think in terms of simplicity of operation, it's why I elected the 1911 type as my own carry piece. In the heat of the moment, I only need to conduct 1 action to take my weapon from full safe to ready for firing. It means less time spent on conscious thought in the preparation to fire, and more time to spend focusing on how best to employ your weapon. Just my $.02 brother. <thumbsup>
  17. I gotta say, I agree with him on both points. I'm not going to lay down and die if the only thing available for my defense is a speargun. On the other hand, I understand that a prosecutor will do everything in his power to put me under the federal penitentiary, and having your carry piece on display complete with tactical light, laser, scary muzzle brake, bayonet, and big f'in 30rd mag inserted, might not quite win hearts & minds in the jury. In their proper context, both statements make perfect sense.
  18. Calvin Klein! I thought you'd never join! Welcome to the forums! <laughs> No but seriously, welcome to the forums. <thumbsup>
  19. I didn't have any problems finding massive quantities of .22 before Sandy Hook either. The wave of anti-gun sentiment and panic buying that followed is the most direct cause I can come up with.
  20. Thread cleaned. Mods/Admins can decide the fate of the hidden posts. Keep it on the civil side gentlemen. I'll throw in my vote for AI, those folding badboys are sweet!
  21. I have always liked the idea of a collet-style non-threaded attachment. I've never seen one implemented though, I'm tempted to make an empty or fake can that implements the mounting system just for testing purposes.
  22. It's a FAS, duh, anybody knows that.... >:D ... but you have a great point, at $34, the price point is a winner.
  23. The last three pages have me concerned about how the month of May could impact my nice clean criminal record. Guys, I want to be legally able to own guns when I get back.... <laughs>
  24. It will happen from time to time, don't sweat it.
  25. Nice! Dad used to have a 70s-something CB750K that he stripped down from the cruiser to just the naked bike. It was beastly for sure.
