  1. I don't know about too hot to handle. My question regarding this kind of stuff is, how paranoid do I have to be before I'm right, and how paranoid can I be before I'm wrong? <dontknow> :cookoo:
  2. It's a terrible tragedy all the way around. I don't think the timing is just a coincidence either... but if it is part of a conspiracy, the investigation into the incident will tell you little, if anything. Just another heyday for the anti-gun lobby and the press.
  3. My sentiments exactly. Couldn't've said it any better...
  4. I run mine wet all the time, but you will probably find that as you get it broke in, you will not need to run it quite as wet as you do at first. Trial and error would be the best way to find where it's comfortable. If you still have issues running it lightly oiled, add a little more and shoot to test. If you get to the point where you still have issues with a nice heavily oiled carrier group, it's time to look at other contributing factors. My personal method is to diagnose from the cheapest factors up.... Use whatever works best for you.
  5. I think the story is just that, a story. As long as you don't run your 308 AR bone dry on your first range session, you should be fine. Oil your bolt carrier up nice and wet before you begin firing, and just shoot the crap out of it. <thumbsup>
  6. The only truly worrisome issue you will face is the addictiveness of the 308 AR in general... <laughs> <lmao> No seriously, run before you get infected. :o :cookoo: Enjoy your stay on the forums!
  7. I think we're back to the personal opinion square on this one. Most of your counter points involved expending more money than the original fix cost. <dontknow>
  8. You're dead on about the mag length being a problem on the shooting bench. I guess to be fair you're dead on about the other points too, but the bench one is the primary one that applies to me. <thumbsup>
  9. I tried the DPMS break in, as far as I'm personally concerned, it's a fraud. Find the round that it likes and stick to it like glue. Wasting barrel life on break in rounds is pretty much pointless, IMHO.
  10. LOL @ Robocop... Welcome to the forums Makulu, enjoy your stay. 8)
  11. Welcome to the forums Brett! Thanks again for your service. Nice gun too! <thumbsup>
  12. Nice writeup buckhorn, welcome to the forums! Be sure to share some pictures of your Les Baer AR, as well as some target pics, that would be awesome.
  13. Welcome to the forums! You are correct about the firing pin retainer, make sure your firing pin sits as deep as it can before you insert the retaining pin, it would suck to have your firing pin wandering around in your upper.
  14. Yes sir, it is indeed the CAA grip, I was in fact referring to the model rather than manufacturer. If i'm not mistaken, the exact model number is UPG16, as seen here. That is also the same configuration I use, as I have pretty large hands myself. I like it even better than my Magpul MIAD grip, but to be fair there isn't really anything I dislike about the MIAD.
  15. That's a good looking build there BayouBob, how are you liking that UPG grip? I love mine!
  16. You sir are evil! That is one sweet looking rifle ckesek!
  17. Glad to see another Texan here on the board! It's beginning to look like if we ever have get together function for the members, Texas will have to host. <laughs>
  18. Is that some kind of sick joke? Of course we're interested! <laughs> Post up brother, we love our gun pics around here. ;D
  19. Welcome to the forums, we're glad to have you! As far as I know, you're the first from SC that has joined and posted in the introductions thread. It is traditional here to post pics of the "kids" once you've described them, so we're looking forward to that too. <thumbsup>
  20. In the context of anything besides the satisfying "clang" of a metal target, I wouldn't think you could do it very practically. JMHO though. :)
  21. Fishing stories have now reached an all-time high.... <laughs> So anyways, this thread was originally about a different kind of nut wrench.... ;) Having never dealt with RRA, I don't know whether their barrel nuts differ from standard AR barrel nuts.... Can anyone here help our friend with that?
  22. If you have any trouble, I'd be happy to contact him personally on your behalf, just PM me if need be.
  23. Can't wait to see some pictures and range results... You gotta get this thing finished! :D
  24. Welcome to the forums CavScout, good to have you on board.
  25. Good deal brother, can't wait to see 'em!
