  1. To extend the this question, how far can you go in terms of practicality? I've been messing with this platform for just shy of 10 years, and only within the last 2-3 years have been able to shoot long distance venues. Having an 1800-yard gun won't be much fun if you only have 300-400 yard shooting venues.
  2. Gotta get him out to the desert come Fall, nobody ever challenges Larry in the Primitive Weapons Match.
  3. That chipping showing in those pics shouldn't be happening. That's evidence of metal that's too hard and brittle, or distemper. I'd get a replacement bolt ASAP just to be safe. Your "grit" could easily be very hard tiny granules of hardened chipped metal.
  4. Would you knock it off? I have important stuff to buy for the Fall Shoot! You're killing me here....
  5. I think that can be done without much difficulty.
  6. We all know what it's like to love something that's a little loose.....
  7. That's a good lookin' build.
  8. You've got bolt carrier over travel! The good news is that it is not difficult to fix.
  9. I bestowed that particular acronym upon realizing his uncanny ability to recognize idiotic types at extreme distance, thus the Dumbass Early Warning System. Our policy by and large is to let folks stick around until we can get a full sense of who they are and whether or not they will make positive contributions to a community built around informing newcomers to the platform, and learning from those familiar with it and it's intrinsics. So far the DEWS has been uncannily accurate, it's up to the newcomers to prove it wrong.

  12. I know what you mean, I'm working the weekend and thankful to have the chance to fund some more gear for the Fall Shoot.

  14. Shhhhh! You're ruining the bait-and-switch tactics we're employing! He's supposed to be keeping a cautious eye on me while Tom sneaks up and blindsides him...

  16. That'll work but it's out of stock.... http://www.primaryarms.com/kak-industry-dual-ejector-ar-308-bcg-kak-lr308-bcg
  17. Oh nice!
  18. A pistol build mind you, it is f'in ridiculous. I shot it myself, and 845 is no problem. Ridiculous, just absolutely insane, that thing....
  19. Glad to help any way I can. Do elaborate on the deviations, I'll be eager to see the final results.
  20. You sir, are going to fit in here quite well. I can already tell. Lastly, it is actually you who has been discussing this build, so now you're obligated.
  21. No sir, I just enjoy the process of making a vision become reality.
  22. I'm sorry, $1000 if you go ahead and get the SLR gas block and gas tube that you'll need. I'm on the verge of doing this very build now myself....
  23. My current list has you at ~$1400 which leaves you with $1100 in the budget to pick a stock, pistol grip, muzzle device, and a bipod. I'd go with Magpul's new offering on the bipod, at $110 it's unbeatable.
