Man, that is messed up... :o You know he lives close to me, too... Ironically, I was thinking that when I read what he posted - before reading what you posted... <laughs> Speaking of SIG, I found a 20" 5.56 SIG in the wild the other day - in the rack at Wal-Mart of all places. Looked like a MOE varient, and they were asking $897. I'll snag the pic from my phone and post it up.

I hope not, man - this is info he needs for the build. I'd hope it's the opposite of being scared off... <thumbsup> <dontknow> ;D

That Spike's T3 buffer weighs in at 5.4oz. An Armalite AR-10 rifle buffer comes in at 5.4oz, and an Armalite AR-10 carbine buffer is also 5.4oz. That Spike's T3 (and spacer) will be good for a rifle-length receiver extension build - at least as good as any other standard .308 rifle or carbine buffer. After shooting it a little bit, you might find that you want more weight there, and a Tubb CWS could help you out, if that's the case.

That is the exact way my Nordic Components midlength barrel arrived, and it's a Wilson. <thumbsup> Robo, I hope you got your LEO discount on that. If you didn't, you'll kick yourself when you find out how good that discount is. <dontknow> EDIT - From the shipped price you stated, you definitely got your discount. <thumbsup> ;D You're going to LOVE this barrel - it's certainly a shooter.

Really sounds like a Wilson barrel, there. Which is good. <thumbsup>

We are definitely making progress. <thumbsup> I'm still waiting for a shipment from RRA. Temporary BCM BCG sitting in there right now, too. After that RRA shipment arrives, the only two things I'll still need will be the NM carry handle, and the Young NM BCG. I'm getting happier. ;D

That ^^^ is a definite. <thumbsup> There will be many - maybe we could make this an annual event, one day. imschur is skeered to come out and visit, because he knows he might never want to go back after that... <lmao> <munch>

Armalite add 6.8 SPC II 7.62x39 to M-15 SPR MOD1 Lineup
98Z5V replied to imschur's topic in Firearm Industry News and Gossip
Nice to see that SPR Mod 1 sporting the Armalite/Aero Precision monolithic upper. -
If you can provide the models of both rifles that you're looking at, it'll be easier to help give advice. <thumbsup>

What is your biggest complaint about the 308 platform?
98Z5V replied to constructor - Banned's topic in General Discussion
constructor = ar15performance. -
I carry everyday, and just wear large button-up shirts, t-shirt underneath. Right side is a Kimber - these days it's the Tac Pro II in a Master's minimalist belt holster. In a shirt like this, I can easily hide the Desert Warrior or the BP-Ten II. No problem. Left side is always a CMC Power 10 in a Blackhawk clip-on, unless I've got the BP-Ten II, then it's a Blackhawk double-stack with the spare BP mag. Sporting the BP with two full mags is heavy. <laughs> That's a shitload of .45ACP. :o

There's so much out there already - you can pretty much do anything you want with a .308 AR build. Barrels - any configuration you want. Uppers and lowers - everywhere. Companies jumped on the bandwagon, and billet stuff is everywhere, even though there are problems with billets sets from companies. Triggers - pick an AR trigger and put it in, for the most part. Stocks - almost all of it crosses over. Gas blocks - everywhere, from all the big-name manufacturers, because these are AR15 parts, and one of the 4 diameters will fit your .308 AR barrel. Handguards - they're coming out everyday, more and more. The hardest thing to find is something for the RRA guns, and those are about the smallest market anyway - market dictates manufacture. Really, what are you looking to make for everybody, that's really ground-breaking? -
Extreme Polymer Research’s Polymer Handgun Cartridge Cases

We will certainly pay for the R&D - even though that all went down in the automotive industry... <dontknow> -
This original post is almost a year old, guys. Just sayin'... <dontknow>

Couple questions about this part of parts selection - Why a 1:12 twist, especially when doing the M110 barrel, and Custom built Sniper model. What bullets do you plan to shoot with this, as a Sniper model? If you're shooting heavy, you should really consider something with a faster twist than a 1:12. Next - that LARGE PIN Geissele trigger is only gonna fit a Colt lower from the ban era - Nobody else ever made a Large-Pin lower. It will not fit your Mega lower. At all. Just sayin'... That SSA-E trigger is a very sweet unit, though - just put one in a build I'm doing. Very nice.

Troy TRX extreme, and an adjustable .936 gas block under the rail????
98Z5V replied to Horsemen's topic in .308AR Parts
Call them up, brother - they're great to talk to, and they'll definitely guide you on the right direction on which one you need for your build. <thumbsup> -
All the bad press they currently get stems from problems in the early models, and that technology. It keeps going now, with the internet keeping that stuff alive, like it just happened yesterday. The three main things I can think of, with the early ones, were: 1. Battery life. 2. AA Batts, mount in line with weapon recoil. 3. Auto-off, after 4 hours of being on. About those things: 1. Batt life - they didn't last long in the early days, not at all. Now, you can squeeze out 1100 hours if you're using Lithium batteries. That's not a short amount of time, but now, this gets compared to Aimpoint and their brilliant technology. You can run some Aimpoint sights for up to 80,000 hours on a single battery - that's not a typo. Nothing can compare to that. That's 8 years of constant-on. :o At any rate, some people think that's something to bash EOTech about... <dontknow> 2. The early sights have theAA batteries inline with the bore, and when you'd fire, the batts would lose contact (from recoil) and the sight would shut off. Not good. However, that has been fixed, and the models that still mount the betteries inline have seen improvements that prevent the batts from losing contact. In short, that is an old story that keeps on living now... 3. Auto-off after being turned on for 4 hours. This is still there. The sights still shut off 4 hours after you turn them on. I don't see this as a big deal, if you're going to be shooting (and having that sight turned on) for more than 4 hours. It's a training factor that you have to live with. If you're going to be shooting for more than 4 hours, know when you need to turn it off, and turn it back on. Combat is a different story - if you're in a 4-hour firefight, you're in some pretty deep poop. That "feature" they have might cost you dearly, but you're in such deep poop in the first place... That's a tough call on that one. :-[ Here's something I posted awhile ago about both brands of sights: From this thread: http://308ar.com/forum/optics-mounts-buis-sights/red-dot-comparo/

Money to build them all, time to build them all. Has nothing to do with what's available. -
Welcome, man - let's shoot sometime. I'm down in SV. <thumbsup>

DPMS Barrell Gas Tube Alignment
98Z5V replied to Fishco's topic in DPMS LR-308 General, Technical Discussion
I have no idea, brother, but I have two PRI blocks, and both are like that. I thought I had another that was drilled all the way through, but I need to go through the guns to find it. I'll keep looking. I know there's one of them that the gas tube is flush with the very end of the block, so it's silver gas tube and black block, all flush at the front. -
Uuuuhhh - that's what she said... <lmao>

Love those pics, AL... <thumbsup> ;D

And I am COMPLETELY with you on that, brother! <thumbsup>
