  1. What exact stock did you buy? Do you have a link to it from the Brownell's website? The MagPul PTR-91 stock isn't going to fit any .308 AR... None of them...
  2. I've never cleaned a gas block. Gas pressure takes care of that for you, and blows everything into the gas key on the carrier, and right onto the bolt tail and into the carrier. Even with a .22LR conversion bolt in an AR - when the .22LR range session is done, plop in the 5.56 bolt, shoot a few 5.56 rounds off, and it blows any .22LR leading at the gas port right out of it. And into the carrier.
  3. Damn good job on the coating, man. Excellent work. Did you check the barrel nut on that upper? At any rate, let us know how it shoots, because that could confirm CMMG upper and AP lower compatability. Good work. <thumbsup>
  4. Like a hot chick in a bar at 2am. I'd risk it. <thumbsup>
  5. At this point, you couldn't PAY me to drive through ABQ. Seems like they're all still looking for Walter White.
  6. Gotta be careful about what category you're in, though. "Traveling" with firearms is different than shipping firearms to a different state, for your use when you get there. Big differences. Flying on a plane with them in checked baggage is "traveling with them." Shipping them ahead of time and flying in later isn't the same.
  7. Hit beachmaster's link in his original post, and it will take you directly to his specific sales threads in his section. Buy with confidence! :hethan:
  8. In his link above^^^
  9. StainTrain is WAY good to go. I'da thought this would be obvious, but I wanted to state it publicly. You rock, man. <thumbsup>
  10. I wanted this rail section more than anything, but wanted something that I could mount all at once that would give me some good adjustment for 100 yards on this beast. I've been looking at the Skinner rear sights, Williams front FireSights, and a rear NECG Peep Sight - that thing rocks! Later, I may change some things up, but I had to fix my "zero" issue in the near term. Here's my rear sight now, independent of the rail setup - this is exactly it: This is the rear sight I eventually want to try out - the NECG. It'll mount directly to the rail I have now. Williams front FireSight:

That's not fair, bro - she's got SEVEN class titles under her belt... On a note about her - did you know she does all this with NO SPONSORSHIP?!!? She's getting sponsored locally, by Knockout Energy. I know that owner decently well. Hopefully, we'll be sponsoring her in some degree soon, too. Ray, I warned you, brother, I warned you. <lmao> Grab a standard trigger and polish the little bastard up, and shoot it when you're the only person on the range that day - try it out. After that, you and I need to meet up, and you can shoot some aftermarket triggers. You really will not believe the difference between them all. You might get so excited that you'll pee a little... <laughs> This isn't the same as engine building , brother, believe me. If I fuk up an engine, I'm not going to prison as a convicted felon. If I fuk up a gun build, I might not even know what I really did, when they come knocking on my door... Big differences between the two. Precision fitment and precision engineering are a part of both arenas, but fast engines won't land your furry a$s in Gen Pop if you do something you had no idea about... <thumbsup>
  12. Good update, but... I cannot help to wonder how much of this "decision to charge" is politically motivated.
  13. Pullman, WA is where he ended up? I think he made things worse by crossing state lines...
  14. ^^^ That's jacked up... <lmao>
  15. Yes, a gas block with two set screws will work fine. The dimple is there so you can properly locate the gas block on the barrel in the correct position. The rear-most set screw lines up to hit into that dimple.
  16. First question - is your friend an FFL? Gonna have to check state laws in both states - yours and Tejas... For most instances, not legal. It will, however, depend on both states in that circumstance. The legal way, from (almost) any state to (almost) any state - ship it to a local dealer at your destination. You either may or may not have to transfer it to yourself upon arrival (fill out another 4473). Seen that happen before. Best bet to find out the real deal is to call a local dealer at your destination and ask them those very specific questions. (*** I used "amost" any state on purpose - some states it just won't matter. Don't ship anything to CA, NY, CT, MA, CO, NJ, unless you're sending it to a gunsmith there, or a manufacturer there, and directly to them as an FFL/Manufacturer.) This sounds ridiculous, but it all deals with sending firearms across state lines, in accordance with varying state's laws. You need to make sure you're legal about it, because the consequences just aren't worth it. *** This post is not legal advice, and I am not a lawyer. Just giving you information to check out so you don't wind your a$s up in the Pen. Gen Pop would suck...

  18. Good writeup, Bob! Nice results, too - very good job on it. <thumbsup>
  19. As far as I know, Fulton Armory was the only ones doing this. Criterion made the barrel for them, and Holy Schit is the barrel nice. Haven't seen one on Fulton's website for several years now - Clint doesn't bring them in anymore because he says they didn't sell well. Several guys here have them.

Yep, light stoning/polishing is about it. One thing you have to watch on polishing - you can smooth and polish a surface, but you have to make absolutely sure you don't change any of the engagement angles. Many of the aftermarket triggers don't even use the same geometry as mil-spec triggers.
  21. That's your elevation knob. That's what it'll do - up/down. Side knob is windage adjustment.
  22. No worries, brother. :happydrunks:
  23. That's an AR-15 buffer length. Not gonna work in a DPMS-based .308 AR. That's the bulk of your problems, right there.
  24. Not the pics I was hoping for... <lmao>
