MisterGary Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 (edited) My First AR10 Build .............Well, not exactly a full build. More like a completion. WMD Guns AR 10 Big Beast chassis. Total gun and internals nickel boron coated. Edited April 20, 2015 by MisterGary
Microgunner Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Sweet. Looks like a long eye relief with that scope though.
MisterGary Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 To some it may be a long eye relief. But for my wore out old eyes it's just right. Thanks for the comment.
MikedaddyH Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Welcome from AZ ! Another KB #18 build ! Woo Woo !
MisterGary Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Thanks Mike. I'm a little curious as to where the other 17 might be.
MikedaddyH Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 No I was referring to your serial number of #0018. I have a lower with the same number but a different manufacturer. I should have been clearer.
MisterGary Posted April 20, 2015 Author Report Posted April 20, 2015 Oh, Ok. What a coincidence. What manufacturer is yours?
washguy Posted April 20, 2015 Report Posted April 20, 2015 Welcome aboard MisterG.....looks like you got it under control ! :) Wash

98Z5V Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 Damn! You did NOT play around! "Go big or go home." Checked that block... <lmao> NICE looking boomstick!
MikedaddyH Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 Oh, Ok. What a coincidence. What manufacturer is yours?Quentin Defense.
Rsquared Posted April 21, 2015 Report Posted April 21, 2015 Nice lookin rig you got there. Good job my man.
ChaseFan9 Posted April 26, 2015 Report Posted April 26, 2015 Nice build, I bet that set you back a good bit. Almost full NiB looks amazing, almost makes me wanna drop a month or two of paychecks into getting all my stuff coated.... So, how does it shoot?
MisterGary Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 Chase it was a big chunk of change to purchase. But, I priced all parts for a full build and the chassis was actually about same price but totally NiBx coated. The only thing not coated is the inside of the barrel. It has Nitromex in it. The price was about how the same as a fully dressed AR10. I just had to add the furniture. As for shooting it, haven't got there yet. Got my headspace gauge Friday and haven't had time to check it yet. This gun has never been fired and came minus a barrel nut. I feel that checking the headspace before sending a round down range is a wise thing to do. https://www.wmdguns.com/shop-now/firearms/nibx-ar-10-308-billet-chassis.html
ChaseFan9 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Sheeit, that cost more than my whole build! So far, anyways, we all know how that goes... I don't blame you on headspacing, I'd chec any new build, no matter who tells you otherwise. Flaws in the process can and do happen on occasion, and I'd rather be safe than dead.
Magwa Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Are you going to Krylon it? you know spray paint it to get rid of the shiny parts....... :) <thumbsup> very nice Gun......
MisterGary Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 Thanks Magwa. Gonna leave it shiny.
ChaseFan9 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 Might need a good pair of auto darkening welding goggles for that glare! How would you go about polishing NiB coated stuff like that? Or would you even need to?
MisterGary Posted April 27, 2015 Author Report Posted April 27, 2015 According to manufacturer you can clean with any non nitro gun cleaner. To me, a soft cloth with a wee bit of Rem Oil does the trick.
Robocop1051 Posted April 27, 2015 Report Posted April 27, 2015 <--- Owns a NiB 308AR (upper and bbl ext.) No lube needed. Clean with a dry cloth. If you feel you MUST lube on... FireClean was actually designed for NiB coated parts, and will also prevent dis-colorization. FWIW, I think the "burnt" NiB looks cooler than the fresh/clean/unused NiB.
