blue109
Still need to talk to them for final numbers. Last accident I was in they threw in some "pain and suffering" cash, and I'm going to attempt an argument for lost wages on the day of the accident. Would be nice to see a little more for the inconvenience of it all, but not holding my breath.

Bought the wife a new car with the extra cash from the last one. It's all how you play the game, always play to win! I treat the insurance companies the same way they try to treat me, lie, cheat, and steal! Maybe if you count the pain from the broken necks it's not a total win......... blue109
The little tank cleaned up pretty well...Considering what it did to that Tacoma. One if the license plate lights even works! I didn't really get hurt other than being sore and I hate hospitals too much to to go make a big deal about it so I'm not going to make much that way. Might make a quicky chiropractor visit if I find one who takes walk ins this weekend. Just need to figure out what I need to fix to pass one of those salvage inspections. Hope to find a tail light at a yard this weekend. I'll pull the bumper off after the inspection and see if I can call in any favors to have a cool one fabbed up. Sisco
A net profit of $700 after driving it for two years plus can keep it? Could be a lot worse.

Maybe if you count the pain from the broken necks it's not a total win......... I do figure in the pain/lasting medical effects if there are any, and the higher rates that follow. And don't think that just by moving to a different company you have dodged rate hikes, the rates given cover all the dodgers, accidents, and scammers out there. Insurance could be a good thing, but one should not have to become a cheat to make it work for yourself.
bubbas4570
By the way, if the vehicle is totaled, there will normally be lasting medical effects.....at least in my opinion.
blue109
The hitch sheared off with the brackets still attached to the frame. I was able to unbolt the brackets pretty easy so nothing was deformed to badly. Looks like the last few inches of the frame rails might be slightly bent but it's hard to tell until I get the bumper off. I don't thing a factory bumper will ever fit again though. The built in tow hook on that left side was bent up. Looks like he mostly slid underneath my truck Edited April 21, 2017 by blue109
DNP
Time for a tube bumper. Cut the top off, lose the hatch, roll cage and a soft top.
COBrien
I'd have demanded that they reimburse you the fees to re-inspect and re-title (you'll be on a salvage or rebuilt title now, not a clean title). And that's not to mention the fact that you'll never be able to sell it for anything close to market value (again, salvage/rebuilt title -- nobody will pay top dollar). Insurance is the oldest form of legalized gambling in the U.S. Therefore, I look at insurance companies like casinos. You pay them month after month, betting they will pay you more than the total premiums you've paid them at some point in the future. On the flip side, they're betting they'll never have to pay out or, if they do, it will be less than the total you've paid them over the years. So, if you have at least a leg to stand on and insist that they pay you more money in order to get you to go away, they generally will. EDIT: Having said all that, seems to me you ended up in a pretty good position. I agree with everyone else -- tube bumpers would be a great place to start burning that money. Next step should be a decent Calmini suspension... Edited April 21, 2017 by COBrien
blue109
I'm going to put together a list of all the new front end stuff I've installed the past few months as well as point out the truck didn't leak a drop and ran great and there's no way to find a comparable vehicle for their fair market assessment. Maybe get me a few hundred more or waive the buyback cost. I'll work on it this weekend.

I agree, you shouldn't have to.....but in reality if you don't play the game by the same rules they do then they win before the clock starts. For me the damage in my neck and back show up on x-rays and other scans but these tools cannot nail down when and where it happen. I simply keep my mouth shut and let them stew over the results their doctors report. In reality the accidents that actually caused the issues probably got off cheap but those since then have paid out good just wanting me to go away. I never have to lie, just keep my mouth shut on any previous history, they are not allowed this information till discovery starts.

There's at least 3 words there that you will rarely see in the same sentence...unless it's an advertisement FOR an insurance company. Morals and ethics don't exist in that world
