I just got a MTM plastic 3 pack of .50 cans with a tray that holds them pretty cheap on amazon.

^^^   I've been eyeballing those things.  Makes MUCH sense to me. They working for you so far?  You say they're good, and I'll get a couple.

I've got a couple of them in "30 cal" with 4 to a tray.  I like them.  They are stackable and seem well made.  I wonder if they will stack on the 50 cal tray.15485420441197005004277605714934.thumb.jpg.7f65a31f0be023facb434840afdfded1.jpg

Damn, I like that, too!  You know my pain, Doc.  I can fit these bitches out by caliber.  5.56 heavy match in a can, 5.56 55gr range ammo, 25/45 ammo, Grendel ammo. One tray, done.  .308 178gr match in a can, 150gr range ammo one can, 30-06 in a can, 300BLK in a can.  tray 2, 30-cal finished.  Repeat as necessary.  It beats the 20-can shuffle to the truck or trailer...

I have went to using the plastic style of cans, even though I have a plentiful supply on hand of metal ones....all 100% USGI.

I moved to plastic for the lighter weight of the can, easier handling (for me.....you might be different), and I just like the way the latches work easier for me. I do notice there is a difference in the brands when going to plastic. MTM is the best, it only thinks about starting to flex when completely fully loaded with ammo....and I am talking about bulk loose rounds. The others...well I have one from Harbor Freight, Runnings, and somewhere else.....they all are almost identical in size and makeup. They are the kind you would find on sale for $4.99 kind of things....and they show it when compared to MTM. The cheaper versions are manufactured in China, and will have the lids start to flex when loaded to just over half full of loose ammo.

They all work for range needs. Would I use them for long terms storage......mayhaps the MTM version. Definitely not the cheaper version.

Those carrying trays that MTM puts out....those look to be the BOMB! But I am a cheap bastard and won't pony up for the deal....actually I don't have the need for any right now.

And for my money, I just order the MTM'S I need from walmart.com and have them delivered to my local store. My wife works there, so pickup isn't a problem, and online prices are better than they can do in store.

Just remember, your schits may be different than mine.....but this works for me!?

No I don't swing that way,I was Fuqing with you

You weren't fuqing with me - you replied to another guy to just Man UP with the gerbils.  Like you had experience, or something, and just BRING IT OUT.

Tell me about your Gerbils - cardboard tube, or did you just rough it, and stuff 'em in there?...  Did they crawl, or claw?  Most interested in you insertion method, as you've done the MAN UP thing on them before...   You know, just curious what you went through.  Spill it, let it out...

At least be a man about it if you're going to go there.

Back on topic,

I have broken just about every plastic ammo can I've ever used.

That your date tonight? ?

Back on thread, My 7.62x39 inventory has been in plastic ammo cans as a test for the last six months. If I get through a year with no breakage, especially with some of the sub zero temps we get, and all the transporting around, I probably will switchover for the ease of use.

Hold on - it's on Cabela's for $29.99...  They're cheaper on this?...

https://www.cabelas.com/product/MTM-CAN-AMMO-CRATE/2574825.uts

I'm surprised! Cabelas cheaper on something..... the only problem is it'll be $6 more on Amazon but they will deliver to your door for free. My closest Cabela's is 40 minutes away with my LED foot, around $25 in fuel for my Tahoe. so if I'm thinking correctly after a little bit of bird dog Blackberry whiskey, I would save a few bucks sitting here with my whiskey and order it online LOL not to mention, I have never gone to a Cabela's in only bought what I went for LOL. It'll end up costing me several hundred to $1,000 more!??
