Lr-308FUn
Hello thank for having me.. From Indiana.. I am into the budget working class working AR10 rifles in either DPMS or Armalite profile. Some companies that I have used in my current new build Aero Precision Acme Machine KaK Vortex Division G4 Magpul UTG Just curious on others new from scratch builds. I think it feels good when you put a rifle together & it functions correctly. Ammo used Federal 7.62X51 Nato (40)* Federal 308 win 180 grain/150 grain Soft point (40) Tulammo 150 grain 308 win FMJ (120)* UMC 150 grain FMJ (20) Winchester 150 grain SuperX 308 win (20)* Not a single malfunction using all ammo listed. *=grouped well Some was shot using a Primary Arms 1x6 Acss retical scope around half The rest was shot using 6-18 Vortex Crossfire ii V-brite retical Divison G4 mount Has a Rock River Arms mount/FAILED/ would come loose even after tighting them down. Good mount for 300blko or 5.56/.223 but not 308 I like the new mount looks streamed line more. Thanks for having me I hope to hear some feedback & suggestion on perphaps another good budget barrel not stainless in

Belt Fed
Nice looking rifle, welcome to the site. I really need to build a rifle one day.
Sisco
Welcome from Wisconsin. Return your Rock River Arms mount. I would say it’s defective. I have had one on my Armalite AR10 since 2011 and never touched it once. Still shoots MOA With my Nikon Monarch 4x16.

I have had one on my LAR8 for 7 years and only did anything to it when I changed scopes. It has been great.
Lr-308FUn
I did return it & got that Divison G4 mount off Amazon, I have used the 30mm tube size mount on a AR15 with a Primary Arms 1x6x24 Acss retical scope but on the 308 it just wasn't enough magnifacation for what I wanted to do with the 308 so I saw that Rock River Arms mount, paid $70 for it at my local gun store, it came loose 3 times, paid $39.95 for the Division G4 mount free 1-day shipping. The 1x6 scope was used for about half the ammo shot on this build, that Division G4 mount didn't even flinch. I like it also because it is lighter than the Rock River Arms mount. Thanks for the like & replies.
Sisco
That PA is a good field scope. I just had some commentary on it under “black rifles”. Might be changing it out, but not because it is a bad scope, just my needs have changed.

98Z5V
Interesting that you never stated that you were in a gunsmithing school, when you made your introduction. Maybe you weren't in it yet. Then.
Joshua
Hello from SC. This looks like a nice build. Similar to what I'm hoping for. I'm a novice so this may be a dumb question, but what made you pick a 15" handguard? I saw that Aero has 12" ones which threw me for a loop. After trying to dig up information yesterday, I'm still no closer to understanding what difference it makes. Presumably for SBRs? Also hoping you're still poking about the forum to tell me 2 years later. Edited April 28, 2021 by Joshua
