micmacman Posted October 17, 2021 Report Posted October 17, 2021 toying with the idea of maybe refinishing my Stag 10 in desert tan camo ,was wondering how many have done so and what their process was
Belt Fed Posted October 17, 2021 Report Posted October 17, 2021 I never have but i know there are a couple here that have. They have pics too.
micmacman Posted October 17, 2021 Author Report Posted October 17, 2021 was curious if they cerakoted the rifle tan and then did the camo accents , or if they did the whole thing with a spray bomb product themselves , i use to be big on Alumihyde2 until i had a bad reaction to a carbon cleaner that stripped it like it was designed specifically to do so
98Z5V Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) I Cerakote the fuk out of my guns, every chance I get. They start out with my custom mix of Sexual Chocolate. After that, I never know where it's gonna go. Here's how this one started out, then ended up. That was Sexual Chocolate. But I fucked with it after that. Edited October 19, 2021 by 98Z5V
98Z5V Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) I have a pretty badass "sponge-camo" job in a Savage FV-SR somewhere here too. All dirt-colors. Search it out, that thing came out sweet. P.S. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't paint a LaRue rifle or an Athlon scope - you can, but you better ABIDE by what Athlon says when you Cerakote their scopes... blue109 Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 @98Z5V I love that stripey boi dude. If we get this grendel dialed I might have to leave it with you.

shaffe48 Posted October 19, 2021 Report Posted October 19, 2021 Camo paint rattle can cerkote whatever would work. I employed a different approach which cost me about $30 and involved a mossy oak graphic gear skin, and one of two provided sheets covered the receiver and stock. I used regular camo tape on the barrel end, scope, and grip. I then used camo netting and rubber bands on the handguard/rail such that the ventilation still works. I cheat with the bipod, sling, magazines, and light mount. These I rattle canned The plus if this approach is that when winter hits I can easily switch out the tape and netting to make it more current with the season. Plus you aren't worrying about f-ing up the paint job

shooterrex Posted October 20, 2021 Report Posted October 20, 2021 This is a Grendel not 308. Just rattle can paint.
RacerX Posted October 20, 2021 Report Posted October 20, 2021 Here's a thread I started a while ago, asking for examples of camo examples: Camo photos I actually should update that thread with mine, now that it's done.
