392heminut Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Maybe I missed a post, but my fiancée just texted me saying the united states has decided NOT to sign the in treaty. Straight from the superior court, which by the way is very pro gunI hope that is true, that would be the best news I've heard in a while! <thumbsup>
BLKSHEEP Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Well it's kinda true, the US asked for more time...http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/07/27/un-fails-to-reach-deal-on-global-arms-trade-treaty-as-us-asks-for-more-time/I think our saber rattling worked :hethan: :gtfo2:
NoFail Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Hmmmm, I'm shocked and relieved at the same time. Maybe O'looser figured it out he'll loose if he signs.
Jgun Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I have been told that this is how it was intended. Now Mexico can sue us in international court, and it will happen anyway, without him having to take any responsibility, as has been his MO since Illinois.
edgecrusher Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Well it's kinda true, the US asked for more time...damn it, so close. vote that down!
jeffreyC Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I got this off the Brownells monthly newsletter;(Interesting point about the Senate ratification of this UN ATT. I read from a reliable source that treaties submitted to the U.S. Senate require approval of two-thirds of Senators present to be ratified. Wonder what happens if it's brought to the floor at 0200 hours when most against it are absent and the few there are for ratification and two-thirds of them vote in favor of it.)Brownells are usually not alarmist.
Team Helotes Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I think it would have to be 2/3 of total, 67 votes.
racerken70 Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 just in from the NRA treaty is dead for nowhttp://www.nraila.org/news-issues/articles/2012/nra-stops-un-arms-trade-treaty.aspx
jeffreyC Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 The US asked for more time, then Russia and China did too.So, it is not dead but held off for now.
392heminut Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 I doubt that it will ever be dead, the U.N. will just keep coming back with it again and again. This go around is not the first one! I've said it before and I'll say it again, the U.N. needs to be kicked out of this country!
unforgiven Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 U.N. has repeatedly shown it's uselessness, ain't doin poop for the Syrians.
CavScout62 Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Since US Money is the only money that keeps the UN going, I think it would behoove us all to start a petition to be sent to our Senators demanding that, in light of our current fiscal situation (thank you Obie!) all funding to the UN be suspended. The fact is, we simply can't afford to prop up this anti-American do nothing bogus organization. What say you Brothers?
unforgiven Posted July 28, 2012 Report Posted July 28, 2012 Yea layoff for the bastards.Sorry but your services are no longer needed,we will call you when things pick up. :gtfo2: :thefinger:
6132expert Posted July 29, 2012 Author Report Posted July 29, 2012 The US asked for more time, then Russia and China did too.So, it is not dead but held off for now. I'm sure that had a lot to do with what is going on in Syria, and N Korea! Also with something like 46 congress men call Hillery up and saying it would be best not to sign it helped us. From what I understand they plan to be back at the tables in the near future under radar to start back up, and they plan to do this before January. Dick Mooris sent out over 700,000 letters to congress from/for folks like us whom signed his petition. That right there says a lot when nearly a MILLION people responded to just one web site over this rediculas excuse of a Treaty!!
NoFail Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 On Tuesday September 11, 2001 early a.m. hours, I was hoping. But, to my utter distain, they missed.....
98Z5V Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 On Tuesday September 11, 2001 early a.m. hours, I was hoping. But, to my utter distain, they missed.....I hope you're not saying - what it looks like you're saying.
NoFail Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 I hope you're not saying - what it looks like you're saying.I don't think so. Not talking about like the White House if that what u thinking.
NoFail Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Hope you didn't mean the Pentagon, then.Oh hell no!! I was pissed when they hit it. Read the very recent posts before that post of mine.
jeffreyC Posted August 26, 2012 Report Posted August 26, 2012 The treaty returns for round two August 27th, as in tomorrow.
MaDuce Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Hope you didn't mean the Pentagon, then. There's a few buildings in this country allot of freedom loving people would have been happy to see taken out. I personally wouldn't have been upset to see the Federal Reserve destroyed. Sad for some of the employees, but happy for the nation's futire.
unforgiven Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Hope you really didn't mean that last remark. There is no reason why innocent people should be put to the sword. They didn't make policy just happen to work there.Anyone kills someone I love all bets are off. They will be hunted to my last dying breath.
jeffreyC Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today urged sustained efforts to tackle the illegal trade in small arms and light weaponsMr. Ban told delegates, in a statement delivered by Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson, that illicit small arms remain the weapons of choice for those who seek to challenge legitimate State powerThis is from the UN itself, emphasis added by me.http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=42744&Cr=small&Cr1=arms
