While it may be true that AR10 is widely used to describe all 308 ARs, the reason we make a distinction on this forum is due to the incompatibility of parts between manufacturers. There are many threads here on the differences. Here is a brief, but outdated now with manufacturer listings, description of the differences.

It may sound similar to someone correcting your grammar, but it is important to know exactly what the rifle is when there are problems. You cannot install a Ford alternator on a Chevy pickup. They just wont work together just like true AR10 parts will not necessarily work on a DPMS 308AR or Rock River or PSA etc...
We are not intentionally sounding like asssholes ... most of the time.
It would make things easier for others here, who know much more about firearms than I do, to not give improper advice should you need it.
