There are builds here to copy or make near original M110 rifles , using KAC Receivers . You have to look around the Build section . In the photo's of an M110 & if thats a rifle gas system , that is a 12" rail .

My 16" , rifle gas , runs fine , DPMS carbine Buffer system .

Maybe they want the gas pressure to keep the brake/suppressor tight , that is of course its a RH twist Barrel .? ? Learn something new here every day .

Left hand threads on the barrels muzzle , that's a new one on me . Why ? Sure makes it proprietary ! That sight shows a 14mm x 1mm LH , strange thread pitch .

Wonder if it was test fired . Most any bore preservative should have been wiped / blown out on test fire . One would think . Unless it was reapplied after test firing .

I have a Criterion 18" rifle length ,S/S Nitrated barrel & its got about five hundred rounds from it so far . Nice Barrel , but then I have three Criterions barreled 308AR's.

We all know the cartridge is capable , but the rifle pistol is bolted down , I want to see how it fairs with a sling or sig brace or off hand .

Looks like because of the " Chronic Wasting Disease ", Virginia has banned any Deer Urine & other bodily fluids , even from Deer you have Harvested . No out of state Urine , not even possession of it , is permitted . I don't hunt or live in VA. You think it will help ? I use Doe Urine for when I piss from my tree stand & pour a little over it , doesn't seem to bother the Deer , they walk right by it & over it with out missing a beat . I've had Bucks , make scrapes & piss on it them selfs , quite a funny thing to see . Other wise I have no use for sents of any kind .

I agree , a 16" rifle will be less weight ( depending on the Barrel of course ) & is quicker to bring up or swing .You will not lose much down range , my 16" is very close to my 20 " @ 200 yards ( far as I have range to shoot ) Trigger makes a big difference , where the MechArmor Trigger in the 16"is an great single stage trigger , the Geissele SSA , two stage ,I have in the 20" is much more suited for the target range , as is the rifle itself , Heavy , not something I would think would be a good brush gun ?. What stock system are you going to use ? Short Buffer sounds like a Carbine Buffer .Measure the length of the Buffer & spring , count the coils on the spring & weigh the Buffer No idea what PSA is using , the AR 10 gas tube worked with that barrel configuration shown above , not sure how Tolerance stacking of the PSA Receivers will compare to DPMS components or the Faxon Barrel . You will not know for sure ,till you mock the system up, unfortunately . I have Full length gas systems on all three of my 308AR's , all barrels are Criterion , 16",18" & 20", I have yet to do testing at 200 yards with the 18" & will compare all three with the same ammo( s ) after the Holidays .

I would wait for the Upper receiver & mock it up & make your decision on where you want it . You are making a custom fit to your Cheek weld on an A2 stock , the Magpul is set up for a wide range of shooters , not that that's a bad thing . I assume this is a 308AR & a longer Charging Handle , correct ?

All I have to say is, some are quick to say how worthless the NRA is , but don't seem to say anything when they help to get major legal issues over turned or clarified in our favor . They truly don't have $$ to help everywhere , its up to you & others, in your States or cities to over turn or change laws that effect you in unconstitutional ways . It just seems like the anti's are winning the propaganda war & it doesn't help us when we sound like them , they have been trying to prove the NRA is useless for a long time .? Now back to the subject , I too was in BAS before I retired & those things brought up by Imschur are way beyond anything I had anything to do with , but thats why he is the Forum wizard & has so many .?

I think if you stay with DPMS components , you should be OK with the Areo . Plenty of Threads on Areo builds around here some where . I know there were problems with the Areo Buffer system that they sell, not sure if they corrected it yet , but you can look around & find the answers you need , just have to read up on some of the sections .

The full length guide rod does more for component alignment to reduce wear, then to help accuracy , I would think . I have one installed & hard to see a difference , unless you have a Ransom Rest . Who knows , both the Duel Ejectors & the Guide Rod , may help out with reliability .

There is a new model AR 10 A that takes DPMS type Mags. ( PMag & such ) or as they say early Waffle Mags & those made like them . , & the AR 10 B takes the proprietary steel mags . Do you know which you have ?
