  1. You can head space it with just the Bolt .
  2. Photo's didn't show up on my PC , Your issue with your AP Buffer system is why I brought the Buffer system issue up . The edge or lip at the Bottom of some Receiver Extensions I thought were made for anti tilt when used with Piston systems or STD systems .I think I have one Receiver Extension with that lip & it has a notch for the retainer in it . Strange how so little of a measurement difference can cause issues with these rifles . Its easy enough to take another Receiver extension & try it , to see if it is the issue , but if your Gas port is that small , that's another issue in its self .There is no magic in Gas Port sizing , it has to be large enough for it to work the action properly , with Barrel length , caliber & gas system length.
  3. And you were worried about practice ammo , there has to be a couple hundred $$ of ammo there . jeez LOL
  4. Went to the range today , it was sunny when I left & as soon as I got to the range some crap blew in from the Ocean & it proceeded to come down in buckets , waited for a half hour & it slowed down a little ,so while I was waiting I installed the DWilson Bolt in the BC of my 16" 308AR & loaded a twenty rounds up & with the original Extractor that came with the Bolt , it failed to Extract right off the bat , I changed to the Extractor that came with the Kit , marked with " Match " on it & dumped the entire twenty round mag . I did work on the original extractor , so I may have done something to make it malfunction , so I just wrote it off & will test it some more next range trip . Because it started to pour a Monsoon day out there I didn't test any further with any of the three 308AR's I brought with me , if I knew this crap would blow in I would have brought my Canopy & could have shot all day , but it was sunny all around & the range is only 10-12 miles away , WTF . I emailed DWilson with what happened today & said I believe its all about Tolerance Stacking with the different manufacturers of the components , Criterion , & his Bolt , not playing well together , like a lot of the other things these 308AR's have issues with . I will do more testing & I will order another Manufacturers Bolt today for testing with this 18" barrel . This DWilson Bolt worked flawlessly with the DPMS Extractor , but as I explained to DWilson , I didn't like the was the Pin fit , his Extractor pin just slid in with mild pressure on the Extractor , not so with the DPMS Extractor , I had to use a good amount of pressure to push the pin in , so I would not trust it to hold up for long. The Photo's in prior posts here show how the back end ( spring end ) on the DPMS sits lower in the Extractor channel also. I will post on what Bolt I ordered in my build thread .
  5. Just remember , you get what you pay for in a Barrel . The 308/7.62x51 thing has been beat to death for years . I have never seen a 7.62x51 reloading die set .
  6. Are they both Gen 3 Pmags ? They are different in how high the mag sits in the mag well , the Gen 3's set the rounds in the mag , slightly higher . The Armalite AR 10 Mag catch has a deeper or higher pad on it where it locks into the Magazine & a longer threaded shaft . The pad on the Catch that protrudes into the Magazine to hold it in place may or may not help much with the Pmag , because they have a closed pocket for the catches pad to insert into , where a steel Mag has an open pocket , so the pad can go fully into it . I have measurements of both the AR 10 & the DPMS & the pad size is the same with only the height of the pad being thicker , on the AR 10 catch ,as it will fit deeper into the mag . The longer threaded shaft , helps to set proper tension on an 308AR . You can also , just have one bad mag . I just sent two Gen 3's back to them yesterday for a different reason , but the issue was the same .
  7. Now it will be too tired to shoot .
  8. Thats an interesting idea . I'm going to check out Wally world , even though I just don't like to go in there . Hell with that , I'm sending the Wife on a mission . LOL
  9. I guess I'm just too old , I'm with Beach & this kind of cheap BS video , to me , puts their products , no matter how good they may be , out of my interest . Cheesy skin games .
  10. Fuk that , sorry for my grammar . They might be reading these posts , but I've never been one to hold back on an honest opinion . The Buffer system is a logical one to look into , but I thought we already went over that . BCG locks back manually with the Bolt Catch , right ?
  11. A bunch of Bikini clad bimbo's shooting AR's , well its in line with most commercials now a days , they have nothing to do with the product , just make you feel good to have it or maybe the chicks will dig it or my favorite ,buy this car/truck to make you into a new person & everyone will like you . NOT ! How about a commercial like ,this or that will make you a better performer shooting ,or this or that will increase the service life of this product , compared to all the others . I guess that would make too much sense & not give you a big woody , watching them .
  12. Every once in a while I get $hitty results from wet tumbling with S/S , they come out looking tarnished & refreshing the mix , doing them again , doesn't make a difference . Any of you guys using the wet method have this happen . I use the same formula every time , but sometimes the round count is more or less , but not too many . I had this happen with the 70 count of 308 I did the other day . Most of the time , they come out beautiful . One thing that may effect it is I didn't wash the sizing lubricant off , but would't that be taken care of the first tumbling . I use Dillon spray on & usually I wash them off with hot water & dish soap to pre clean them & I didn't this time .
  13. As soon as they saw LE , they were gone , the guy that was trying to pick up his bike , dropped it when the Man showed up too & I'm sure he was hurt , that foot or leg was broken , they stayed to help an injured buddy .
  14. Makes you wonder who's their target audience . Bubble gum music .
  15. My Vortex is great & I have the older model , they make a couple different models , which did you look at ? I have the Sure Fire II & its not all that light weight, but well built . http://www.brownells.com/optics-mounting/electronic-sights/red-dot-sights/index.htm?avs|Manufacturer_1=vortex optics
  16. "Ace is the place " When I looked for this paint to camo a new tree stand , Ace was the only place that had a good assortment . I have a Black Remington Syn. 870 stock I can play with . I may look for paint tomorrow on my way back from the range . Now the rubber bands , I'll have to look around , because I may go larger than 1/4 " ?
  17. When I see people do this , I just shake my head & say WTF are your trying to prove . https://www.yahoo.com/autos/s/watch-harley-davidson-rider-crash-215136813.html
  18. I have to do some experimenting , but the rubber band thing is a good idea . Just have to get the coloring I want for the Winter woods in Ohio .
  19. How do we know how he had the Gas adjusted the last time he tried that SSA ammo . He said "no matter what I did , it wouldn't work ", I guess we can or he wants us to assume he tried to adj. the gas before, not sure . I'm not into with putting more holes in my bolt face to potentially weaken it & those springs have to be weaker then a single Ejector spring , to balance the Ejector total spring pressure or the Cartridge may not completely chamber & lock the bolt because of too much spring pressure , more proprietary components , you will have to get those springs from this one place or maybe LMT . Maybe he could have just changed out his ejector spring or diagnosed his ejection problem. I just had an ejection problem with a new Bolt & changing the Ejector Spring , fixed the issue , so just having twice the Ejectors is nice if thats what you think you need . You have to think about how many rifles only have one & have been battle tested & work , so it is trendy & if you want one go for it .
  20. As you stated , my FA Criterion 16" with Rifle length gas system is 0.1095", I can see why you are short stroking . Go slow so with the drilling as to not cause any chips hanging in the bore side of the hole & if you can , start with a slightly smaller Bit , as Matt described & try a function test with that size before you go to the next size . If you can & have the proper bits , Good Bits , no cheap ones , they , as you know , make a wide range of sizes , even special order a size if you need one . They won't give out port size ? Why not ? They are far too easy to find out what they are . Send the barrel back & ask to have the gas port what ever you want , its your barrel or do it your self , just take it slow & easy . I'm not a Machinist ,but don't they make reamers in smaller sizes ?
  21. Looks good . Color looks like the Bakelite Mags for my AK .
  22. Man , anything but a Black color Shirt . Too Fuking hot down here . I like it & the idea .
  23. I didn't say it didn't move , I said the Bolt Carrier pulls it via the Cam Pin linkage & forces the bolt to twist with the Cam Pin path in the Bolt Carrier . the Bolt is never moving on its own with propellent gas pressure , the Bolt carrier is the active component with propellent gases . With out the Bolt carrier being forced back with gas pressure . that bolt stays put, locked into loaded & locked breech, position . A crank shaft or fly wheel doesn't move on its own , it takes a piston to rotate it , if the piston is not moving , the crank or fly wheel sure isn't moving . If you or others are calling a linkage with gas sealing rings , a Piston then you are saying a Crank shaft or fly wheel is a Piston also . They are both connected to a Piston via a linkage of sorts , the Cam Pin is a sort of linkage . I'm trying to get the last word in a never ending debate , Matt . LOL LOL LOL
  24. Nice job , now I want to do one , but I think I want it on the darker side . I should start out with the light colors ?
