  1. NIB BCG from this Company , the ones I have go from them are almost flawless ( but I didn't look at it at 4x power <laughs> ) http://www.shadowopsweaponry.com/default.aspx As far as DPMS , I don't think they make their own BCG's , they come from an outside source & DPMS is probably the largest 308AR producer out there , comparing them to a Company that only puts out a fraction of the components or rifles , is not really a fair comparison .
  2. Ya, that has to do with Military ( Surplus ) Amor Piercing , Incendiary & Tracer Ammo , your flex point or Ballistic Tip ammo is permitted ( well , maybe not your magic marker tipped fodder <laughs> ) They would be banning 50-60 % of the Hunting ammo out there , if they were included.
  3. My Butt hurts thinking about it .
  4. <munch> This is great ! The o'lady finally asked what I was laughing at .
  5. Break out a punch & re-stake it your self , if you feel its not up to par.
  6. Since it appears the bolted end of the gas block gave out ( torque on bolts or just a weak design ), more than likely the block failed while a shot was fired , the force of that end being forced up from the gas pressure , the Bayonet lug was twisted upwards & snapped because it alone wasn't strong enough to hold together & broke along with the bolted end . The Photo of this gas block in one piece , does appear to be made of a heavier casting .
  7. Was it you that said no colored bullets at the range ? <laughs>
  8. This may boil down to , two different actions having different results . Hard to tell unless you used the exact same components & compare them . Subsonic ammo can have different results also , depending on the type of powder used & bullet configuration . If you look at the different manufacturers spec's , you will see some Manufacturers use a softer jacket or a thicker jacket & so on . I remember when I first started loading for the .44 Mag. I was using Speer & Hornady bullets , the Speer's were sized to .429" & the Hornady's were @ .430 ", now you wouldn't think that that 0.001" would make a difference with the same powder/primer loading , but it does & you could tell by the brass & the firing . No two barrels/chambers are alike , so a Barrel/chamber shooting the same ammo may not act the same as another of the same configuration. On the most part they should & will , but there will be that one that will require tweaking in some way of the other to get it to perform in the same manner , as others . Yes subs have less Velocity to make them subsonic , but they normally are a heavier bullet & that , as a reloader , you know will raise chamber pressure slightly , compared to a lighter bullet at the same charge weight . In a short barrel with a short gas system & throw on a Suppressor & unless as I said , you have all the exact same components , that you know work with that combo , some actions may take some kind of tweaking some where to get them to perform .
  9. Sounds kinda fishy , any way you read it . Not sure why the link I put in went to French ? I think its total BS.
  10. Barrel & its gas system has nothing to do with any stock configuration , throw an adjustable gas block in there & it can effect the actions performance , if not adjusted properly . Use the proper components for that particular stock configuration , meaning rifle length or Carbine & their proper configurations for the specific caliber . 308 stuff for a 308 & 5.56/.223 for 5.56/.223 .
  11. Its all fun & games , until you have to pay for the ammo .
  12. Some bbl's do not require that the a gas block needs to be backed off the shoulder to compensate for a Hand Guard Cap, you can pull it off or just back it away far enough to see if the carbon pattern is completely surrounding the bbl's gas port. Meaning the the complete port is being used & not restricted .
  13. How hard can it be for a Company to copy one pattern ( 308AR )or the other & if there is Quality control problems , why wasn't that found in testing . I'm not just talking about this Firearms maker . My question is why would you make your firearm ( 308 AR's ) Proprietary , unless you think your product is so much better then everyone else's & they will buy yours parts & yours only. That isn't reality .
  14. Its already pre lubed ! <lmao>
  15. I thought it was funny . <thumbsup>
  16. Ya ,But you won't hear the next round chamber <lmao> I cycle my Pump Slug gun in the tree stand , after I'm settled in. Rack it like your at the Range .
  17. He fell right into that one . <laughs>
  18. First off , its not about the French , so relax , take your med's . <laughs> I was more interested in the Aegis radar thing & more importantly , that some people wanted a transfer after the incident. I find it hard to believe that any servicemen would want a transfer , because they are ( Basically ) afraid to serve on a particular duty station , because of something like this . I can see a lot of other reasons , but because the Radar System failed , nope . Another thing was , the ship was transiting through a major navigation route , with other Maritime vessels in close proximity , I would think the Radar ( Aegis ) would have been off , you could fry other vessels Navigation devices. Not to mention some close to shore . Russian Propaganda , wouldn't put it past them or us .
  19. Was not sure where to put this one , but a friend sent this to me & he was quite freaked out about it . Being I was in the Navy , he wanted to show me this . Not sure what to make of it , especially the part about some sailors wanting transfer's after this incident. Unless the Navy has changed & I have had several Nephews in the Navy over the years & know they wouldn't want a transfer because of something like this , but its been a very large number of years since I was in the Service , so who knows. Another thing , was the Aegis radar even turned on ? See what you guys have to say about this . http://www.voltairenet.org/article185860.html
  20. Thank you Nikon. I had a friend with an older 3x9x50 Buckmaster scope ( 10+ yr. ), that was fogging up on him in the morning while hunting . He said just would fog up . I told him I would take care of it & asked if he had the org. receipt , he did better than that , he had it & the original box . I shipped it out before I went hunting & got an email while in camp & said it would be covered by Warranty , I got it the other day & his scope was replaced by a new Prostaff 5 , 2.5x10x50 . Good looking glass & my Friend is quite happy. Less than 30 days to get the scope replaced , not bad . I'll add a Photo later.
  21. Thats always possible , but ,really ? <laughs>
  22. Run her wet with lubricant for a while to break in the action. If not already doing it .
  23. You can tell if its interfering with BCG travel ,by measuring how high it sits above the deck of the lower receiver , comparing the measurements with the STD catch that you know works . I use a digital Dial caliper's depth reading to measure & it won't take much to interfere with BCG travel. If you plan on messing with the spring , I would do any alterations to a spare one . My gut feeling is the catch is hanging up some where or interfering with BCG travel. Bolt catch could also be out of spec's , if you can, take it or send it back , if possible.
  24. Or shoot one right out of the box . <lmao> I found a loose barrel nut on one a friend bought . At fifty yards is was printing 12gage "00 " groups .
